My opinion on muting with a hairband:
    - if your name is Guthrie you can do whatever the hell you want, just pls keep doing it
    - I don't know anything about this Matteo kid, this was the only thing I saw of his playing.
    - After watching the single video I'm under the impression that the uses the extra muting not for the tapping parts, but for the finger picking. Like where his wrist is almost parallel to the strings. That looks hard to make it sound good.
    - If he gets results from that approach, who am I to judge? Sometimes unorthodox technique leads to really great and innovative stuff.
    - If he doesn't then that's on him.
    - Yes, the hairband makes some stuff easier. And yes, if you see 2 guys playing the same stuff note-for-note then the one who isn't using it had the harder job.
    - Overall, IMO, don't use it at practice time. If you can't hear your mistakes they're gonna compound. But in a TV performance setting? I'm not gonna judge. Just know what you're doing.

    As for the ban itself:
I will post a long rant, filled with quips, jokes and voice impersonations later. For now all I got to say is it's no wonder why @ coldrampage left if this is the shit he's been dealing with on a daily basis. And big thanks to @ Rodman and @ aNDESmASAMUNE , without whom I probably wouldn't be here rn.
But all that will have to wait, because tonight we ROCK.

    @ RaZrShReD race to 100% ?

Well, sorry for another da capo week, I didn't have it in me to do a proper selection. On the other hand we get to play Vektor again, which is always fun.
    Other news:
    - @ hellothere1 you have no class assigned in rhythm path, you want to be in adv?
    - @ Hikikomori you have no class assigned at all. mc?
    - no promotions this time
    - regardless of the insulting politics the site decided to engage in, the show must go on

yeah bass emulation is not possible to check....  but since @ nlbsmglsk  brought up the issue of RR and cheating in scores, i wanted to mention this RS addon app called Rock Buddy which is a leaderboard system developed by fellow streamer and friend @ TNTMusicStudios !

Its a leaderboard app for Rocksmith and the scoring features make it impossible to cheat as the score gets unverified if the song is paused or RR is used, it gives accuracy upto 2 decimal points  in learn a song mode, (e.g 88.35) just like the Score Attack mode, check it out for yourself:  https://rock-buddy.com/

these features seem useful for the competition. maybe at some point it can be implemented in the RSC

Ok, after a short adventure (I was still on the 'previous version' beta) I got it working. Looks really nice & works like a charm.
The only problem is I get my own personal leaderboard for every CDLC I try. Turns out that importing songs with CFSM with fixes applied makes it register as a different version. So, basically 99% of my library will have to be re-downloaded for this to work as intended. I which I might do, but it's hard to decide if getting destroyed by pros on every song attempt is worth it. It might just be the motivator I need rn.

Also, @ RaZrShReD did you really get 100% on Revocation - The Grip Tightens, or was this the 100% bug that CFSM fixes?

EDIT: @ TNTMusicStudios I see you reacting, so I'm gonna tag you on this. Figured the feedback might be useful.

i dont get it...whats wrong with rr? is there some exploit that im not aware of? only thing i can think of is doing rr and quitting the game session and maybe that gets a high percent... but the streak would be low so it would be obvious that its not the whole song or am i missing something?

It's probably about playing in slow speed in RR mode or some other tricks, but I don't know what. I often use RR myself because I want to know how many misses I have while playing, but I play at full speed and only at the end I stop the song and turn off RR so that it doesn't rewind to the beginning.

So what I did is I riff repeated each and every part in this song, most to 100%, in a single run. Took me 6+ hours.

Is this a valid score, or is it considered cheating? I checked the rules and I don't see anything that would forbid this.

😂 ... log time i have not seen such a post, cool!
Short answer - no not allowed

Long answer - well, scores are allowed for full runs on songs, the only thing allowed is pausing within an attempt, no going back and forth.... there has been quite some discussion about alike screenshots, as they cannot be in all cases separated from legit ones (in your case the mastery is far off the acc as a hint). Well there have been voices among the orgas 5,6 years ago to only allow  Score Attack scores cause of that issue, but i voted against because basically cheating with entrances is easy, also in SA - the pro cheater can replace any note in the song by empty E strings (or whatever) and will get a perfect screener with a 100% on any song, the lame cheater can just photoshop a bit.... it´s a friendly competition and we are all here to improve, if someone thinks he has to push his self confidence by manipulating his entrancescreeners - oh boy.... so be it.
If there will ever be giveaways or anything - a video playthrough will be required for a valid score.

    Rod.

Surely we thought about it. Whatever you do, going back in the song is disallowed (going forward is.. that is useful in the rare case of long long intros, can be skipped by going to RR, moving to first section with played notes and continue song)

Playing the whole song in one pass in RR is no problem.

    Rock!!!

But how do you want to check whether someone played a normal or emulated bass? It is not visible on the screenshots, so the participant would have to mark it himself. So probably no chance.

Yeah, that's a though one, all we can do is appeal to players sense of fair play/sportsmanship. BUT, there already is a similar situation with regards to using RR in submitted scores. Or even photoshoping the images. So I see no problem to include this in the rules. (well, there is a deeper discussion about unenforceable rules, but let's not get philosophical).

btw. I just took a glance at the rules thread to see is this wasn't included and sadly I must conclude that years of accretion made them really hard to parse and unclear. Maybe a rewrite is in order? Surely it would make things easier, especially for new players.

    1. Thanks for a new week and thanks for choosing Seventh Wonder song. I've been listening to them for a few days now, really great music! I added the song suggestion yesterday and RNG immediately favored me, great 😄  I will immediately add that I assessed the bass path only visually, but this is definitely a very difficult masterclass or even GoB.

No need to thanks me, I just roll the dice. I did try the bass part and it looks 9-ish to me, but then again I might a bit rusty with bass. Let's wait and see if anyone complains about the rating.

    2. Please check scores from last week and correct the winners list. @ RaZrShReD  couldn't win in two classes in the rhythm path. From what I can see, he is entered twice on the leaderboard in different fonts.

    Fixed (I think).

    1 hour ago, Mikson said:

    3. By the way, I'll ask why you haven't competed in the lead and bass paths for a long time, only in the rhythm path, and last week not even in this one? Simply lack of time?

The times have come when, unfortunately, there are few players competing in masterclass. And last week in the lead path @ RaZrShReD  was basically competing with himself (literally look at the table 🙂 ).

Yeah, it's mostly time constrains. I have 3 young kids (8yrs, 3yrs and 9 months) and also switched jobs this year to a one that requires me to actually do stuff (poor me). Hopefully I'll make a comeback in 2024.

my bass not taking low tunings well so i had to play on emulated.

    3 hours ago, Mikson said:

That's what I thought. In song Bull in the Bronx, the bass chart looks like it's easier to play on the guitar. On the bass I had more problems with recognizing slides which made it harder to achieve 99%. But ok, the victory is yours. 🙂

IMO the emulated bass should have a handicap or something, just so we can have a level playing field. Now, I'm not gonna push for a rule change or anything, just voicing my opinion.
