Artist Name Sort that begins with "A"

Recommended Posts

The artist sort field automatically moves the stand-alone letter "A" to the end of the field with a comma.  Is there way to turn this correction off so that artist names can be sorted correctly; ie, "A Flock of Seagulls" instead of "Flock of Seagulls, A"?

@@KJParsley *dlc.xml is a toolkit template file (save and load template buttons at the bottom)

1. Save template with all info added to toolkit

2. Open xml with text editor, change

<ArtistSort>Flock of Seagulls, A</ArtistSort>

to

<ArtistSort>A Flock of Seagulls</ArtistSort>

and save xml.

3. Load this xml into toolkit and generate your cdlc

@@KJParsley Are there any ODLC examples that you know of where a sortable field (Artist, Title, Album) begins with "A "?  Will consider revising toolkits sortable field validation if there are a couple of examples.

@@KJParsley In addition to ODLC artist sort for "A flock of seagulls".  Also found ODLC songpack artist sort for "A day to remember".  I will revised the toolkits sortable field validation in next beta release to accommodate these, as well as others.

As a side note:  The ODLC sortable fields are very inconsistent when it comes to upper or lower case usage.  Only the first letter of the first word seems to be capitalized consistently.

They seem to be inconsistent very often when it comes to things requiring a bit of attention to detail.  As it is an accepted and widely used practice to stylize names and titles, capitalization and punctuation should never be 'validated' for them.

For example:

"B.B. King" should be listed and sorted with the periods (note also that it is stylized with no space between the "B."s)

"a-ha" should be listed with no capitalization and should be sorted with the dash included

"KoЯn" is a tough one, as it can be difficult to reproduce and alphabetically place the "Я", so most likely will always be listed and sorted as "Korn"
