  1. Just out of interest I tried alt+tab in Win7 with 1369 (I normally just use mouse clicks too) and it works perfectly. Must be a Win8 problem... One of many, many problems with Win8. The first time I used my kids laptop with Win8 I had to ask her how to turn the bloody thing off :D
  2. You also need to enable in the File>Preferences "Write Separate RS2 Files". It's a tick box. It might also say Write Rocksmith 2014 Files, but you know what I mean. Once this is enabled and you save your project, EoF will write the Part_Real_Guitar_RS2.xml, which is what you want.
  3. There is a video lag compensation option, a slider you can adjust to help with this. I don't know if it extends all the way to 2 full seconds but its worth a shot.
  4. Can I ask a noob question? I made the jump to r1369 using the RC10 1337 base build, and now it insists on saving a separate .wav. I had turned off before but I can't for the life of me see the setting to switch off in the new EoF. Click the box that says "Do Not Write WAV" And also, how do I turn off chord names at the top of the waveform window? Change the "Top Of 2D Pane" selection Edit - one more.... How do I make new gems (right click mouse) have a length of 1ms? I set in preferences Min Note Distance and Min Note Length both to 1ms and they still come up with a tiny tail (it's not a constant length, but it's 1ms + 1 mouse wheel scroll up). Click the box that says "New notes are made 1 ms long" I answered my own questions in italics. I left the post in case someone else has the same questions... Yeay yeah, Plum's a noob. Bite me :D
  5. To max out DD (almost straight from Time Is Fading's sig). When you start the song - Press space bar - Press and hold 0 - Press down arrow - Press and hold right arrow - Press delete key Wow, that must have taken 10 seconds :) Sarcasm aside, it does bother me too. I wish there was a global setting in options to always max out DD. Also, on the control thing. I have a xbox 360 pad permanently hooked up, and I use the keyboard to navigate the game. Once you learn the button it ain't so bad. What does really annoy me though, is that stupid deliberate pause before it does anything e.g. hit ctrl to change path, change the path then press esc to come out. How many times I've hit esc over and over because I think the game is broke - nope, for some reason it needs to take 5 fkn seconds to respond to a button press :( It does this a lot, using tone designer is nippy too. All those little pauses can get quite frustrating. And when you assign a tone to a slot you need to make sure you wait the 3 or 5 seconds it prescribes, or it loads the slot instead of assigning your new tone to it. AGHAAGHAGHAGAGH Why can't it just be a slick, quick menu system... Rant over, bring on RS16 :D
  6. The problem you described in the opening post was because you used the wrong audio file. If it's that short then you probabvly used the intro music instead of the full 3 minute song. When the audio ends in game (after 30 seconds or so) the game has no choice but to stop the song/chart. Its happened before, you ain't the first :D
  7. I love my red sharkfins http://www.sharkfin.eu/layout/footer_logo.png Hard to find them now (in shops in my local area). I'm down to my last one, I'm gonna have to buy some off ebay or something...
  8. Lets hear what you did to fix it/what you were doing wrong? Its just so anyone else reading this with the same problem will find a solution :D
  9. I only described the way I do it, I am aware that there are other ways. Consistent variable names is pretty basic stuff, and it will help people learning how to do it concentrate on wtf they are doing. Random names in EoF and the toolkit is a recipe for a fuck up. TranceXZero its easier if you upload your folder and let someone have a look. Although I'm guessing this is the problem. When you bring the arrangements into the toolkit it auto adds the names of the tones you used in EoF. You are probably assuming that these tones somehow work dandy oh. They won't, they are empty tones with the names you made. You need to get the tones you want from somewhere - other customs or your personal save file or tones you have downloaded. Put them in the toolkit then make their name to what you called shit in EoF. Erase whatever empty tone the toolkit made. This is why I put the tones in BEFORE the arrangements - no empty tone shit to deal with
  10. Mark it as an arpeggio section instead of a handshape section and it will display the chord name. I hate arpeggio secitons (I think that they are more confusing than helpful) but it's your custom, and my opinion is not everyone's :D
  11. You need sections in your cdlc for the counter to work.
  12. It is worth noting that there is a difference between songs which change tone only once (for example and intro tone, then changes to the main tone and stays there) and songs which change regularly (for example verse tone/chorus tone/verse tone/chorus tone etc etc). I'll explain the easier one first, where there are many changes. Here is what I do: - In EoF, go to where your first tone change to be (you do define a "default tone" for the song later, so I am on about where you want the first actual change to take place). Remember for fine movements in EoF hold down ctrl and use the arrow keys, this allows you to be far more precise in placement - Press ctrl+shift+t - Give it a name that makes sense and you will remember e.g. SongClean (ffs write down on a piece of paper what you called it) - Move to where you want your next tone change to be - Hit ctrl+shift+t - Give it a name e.g. SongLead (and probably write this down too), be careful with your spelling now!!! It does matter. Once you have all your changes in (and anything else to do with the chart) save it. EoF will give a message about defining a default tone (what tone is used when the song starts in game), I then accept EoFs advice and go to the tones list and mark one of the tones as default. EoF HAS NOT SAVED YOUR PROJECT AT THIS POINT HIT SAVE AGAIN!!! Now, in the toolkit it is worth setting up your tones before you import your arrangements (the XMLs that EoF made). Import the tones you want to use - it don't matter what they are called we will fix that. Click on the tone you want for SongClean and hit Edit. Call it SongClean, use the drop down menu to make it a Lead/Clean/Acoustic (its set to Bass by defautl) and save it. Once you have all your tones done then import the arrangements. Here is the test, if any extra tone names are added to the bottom of the tones list when you are importing the arrangements then you have made a mistake somewhere - probably a spelling mistake. You really need to take care when naming tones to get them correct, and they are case sensitive. For Example, if you import your lead arrangement and SongCleen appears in the tones list then obviously you typed SongCleen instead of SongClean in EoF. Now hit Generate and give it a go, it should work fine. Don't worry too much about volumes and stuff at present, these are easily changed. If you save the toolkit template and you want to change any volumes, just load up the toolkit save, mess with the tones and rebuild the custom. Some things are a nightmare to change however, the main culprit being tone change positions in the song. These are a complete CNT to change and needs a thread all to itself. But volumes/amps etc are easy, as long as you don't try to change their position in the song. The only other thing to remember is that if you only have one tone change in the song then you still need to setup a default tone in EoF. You need to introduce a "dummy" change near the start of the chart so that you can define it as the default one in EoF. This is how I do it. There is more than one way to skin a cat and I am sure others will chime in with their versions of events too, so just read them all and do it whatever way seems most straightforward to you. Good luck and have fun :D
  13. Handshape feature does not make chord names appear in game...
  14. What version of EoF are you using would be the next question? I've never, ever seen that and I do that stuff all the time to re-import GP files. I'm still using r1363 though.
  15. If you use the handshape feature you will not get chord names appearing in game. The only way to get chords appearing in game is to use an arpeggio setup. Good luck, bring on some MacGuyver :D
  16. Fingerpicking is a nightmare in RS14. It invariably ends up a mess, and the player really needs to be confident with his/her chords in order to make it work. It's not something which Rocksmith is a good "teaching tool" for. Maybe in RS16 they can clear up the arpeggios sections (removing that stupid vertical line which is attached to every note in the arpeggio), or let chord names appear on screen with the handshape feature (like you see in EoF). Although I've just complained about them, I think the way you need to go is to use arpeggios. At least that way you can have the finger positions visible at the beginning of the picked chord.
  17. I realised after 100+ customs that gems could go "off snap" just by reloading a saved EoF project. The maths involved in loading up a project is complex and creates rounding errors (using milliseconds to measure beats). I'm not complaining I'm just pointing out that your gems can go very slightly off snap grid through no fault/action of your own. To this end I always resnap all notes in all arrangements before I save. Couple of things though - Yes, if you have notes extremely close together (fast solo for example) it can snap them together, but you get a warning for this so you just have to spend a minute highlighting selections of gems throughout the arrangemet and snapping them, missing out the mad solo with the ultra close notes. - Remember to resnap the tech notes too! Tech notes are far more likely to want to snap together, because there may be 3 or 4 of them close together just for one complex bend on one gem, so be careful. I always make sure all my tech notes are white/green again after a resnap. Thanks for looking into it though, I think everyone has problems with secitons not being selectable. A lot of my customs must have it and I haven't even noticed because I do not test every section of every song. There are also issues with sections which make arrangements crash... I think. If you use global sections (i.e. the same secitons for all arrangements) then this can lead to, I believe, crashing arrangements when you have multiple sections at the start of the bass but the bass doesn't actually kick in until the chorus (for example). Now I set global sections where I know there are gems in all arrangements (most of the song in most cases) then use local sections to fill in specific parts of individual arrangements. I've never reported this cause I cba expermienting to prove my theory, so well done to you for taking the time to test this out :D I will engage "Highlight non grid snapped notes" from now on, thanks guys :)
  18. I was changing from Bass to Guitar using the ctrl+shift+up/down arrow. There is only one difficulty per arrangement and I have it in Amazing. Its no real problem, I just thought for a second that were gems hiding that I couldnt see.
  19. Hi, purely by accident just then I noticed a bug. Well, I don't know if its a bug or expected behaviour? When you change lanes while its playing with handclaps on, the handclaps from the previous lane still play and you get a kind of "double clap" going. A simple stop/start cures it, but I thought that I would mention it anyway - it confused me for all of 5 seconds :D I'm still using r1363 incidentally.
  20. The quickest way I have found to do chords is right click to get a gem (coloured note thing) where you want it, then press F. This will bring up the chord definition box and you can fill in the numbers you want (and some other things). Remember copy and paste will save you heaps of time once you get the first chord defined :D
  21. WTF is the Custom Song Toolbar? And glad you got it sorted, now you can play some fo my amazing customs :D
  22. My bad, you don't have to erase anything. I've recently wiped my pc and got customs working again last night. But I have to say it was as easy as installing the game and putting the .dll into the Rocksmith root folder. Steam even saved all my scores (inlcuding scores on customs), profiles and tones... I really can't fathom why you are having trouble, sorry.
  23. When you put the .dll into the root folder it should replace the exisitng one, so Windows will give you the choice of erasing the exisiting one or keeping 2 copies. If you keep 2 copies it may be confusing the game. If you have succesfully implanted the .dll, when you launch the game it should have a DOS console come up quickly (the black command prompt) before the game loads properly. A little black window top left of the screen with a message about loading successfully.
  24. It's more annoying when you click on a note and it moves slightly  Dunno how to turn it off, but I have learned to take my time and be patient when selecting notes. I use a gaming mouse and I gots plenty practice at shooters, so giving them gems a headshot comes naturally :D
  25. If you need the tabs from the songbook let me know. :) I think I will. I didn't know the song at all and seen a 5 star tab... a 5 star tab which doesn't have the lengthy slide solo :( I've got it synced up (pretty dissapointed Black Keys use a click, I expected quite loose drumming) and I was going to find some youtube vids and maybe written tabs to get the solo done. If you could forward the tabs for the solo that would be great :)
