  1. I haven't posted in a few weeks. So just to prove that I'm not in FreeBird jail, here are a couple of quick scores. Bad Rep on bass = 100% Nothing to Lose = 98% on my first try. I know that they're relatively local to my home town, but I don't care for the song enough to chase a better score. I do, however, have other treats in mind for the FreeBird Police this week.
  2. I hope to have more time this week. Here's my start Metric on bass = 99.7% NoMeansNo on bass = 98.8%
  3. Last week and this have been crazy busy. So I'll just drop in a couple of sight reads in case I don't get the chance to work on the tracks. Who cares = 99% Turn it Again = 89%
  4. "This site cannot be reached"? Fixed link
  5. and either further off topic... Love Stinks Edit Fixed link
  6. RIP John Geils, band leader and guitarist (but not singer) of The J. Geils Band. Here's my replay of week 120, Centerfold on bass
  7. https://www.yahoo.com/music/j-geils-longtime-leader-j-geils-band-dies-233515534.html We lost another one. The J. Geils band might not have been influential but they might have been the most fun. RIP, John
  8. It was said before, but we do have a bunch of new participants so... not a chance. It basically means having another, separate Championship, and we don't have time to spare. Everyone is free to try and organize something like that, but I'll be honest, it's not that easy to keep up running ;) Judging by the number of bass players that like this post, there seems to be an appetite for some bass only tracks. The GoG is a relatively recent change, so how about something like Ace of Bace Ace of Base Ass of Bass Lowest of the Low a similar concept judging the ability to lay down a solid groove rather than self indulgent guitarbation virtuosity.
  9. Started with Blink182 on bass. It took three tries, but I have my 100%.
  10. They are hometown heros around here, but I've never been a fan. I admit it - I'm just not in to Rush. Let the flaming begin. :P The Spirit of Radio on bass = 98% It's a busy week. but I'll still try to eke out a 99% on it.
  11. I just calibrated before trying again and it made a world of difference - 99.8 % I think that this is required because the BEAD is set as a bonus rhythm guitar track, and would be calibrated for guitar input.
  12. As usual, I started on the beginner tracks and worked up in difficulty. Live to Ride, Ride to Live on bass = 100% I'm Picky on bass tuned Drop D = 97.8% I tried I'm Picky again on a bass tuned to BEAD and had a lot of note recognition issues. Even notes on open strings that are in tune often show as misses. Is anyone else having problems with the note recognition on the bonus track?
  13. I switched back to normal bass 34" scale length and have No Particular Place To Go up to 97%. Just to do one track this is actually on this week's selection - JBG on bass 100%.
  14. I gave up on my two week experiment of changing the display setting to invert the strings. My brain just couldn't make my fingers find the correct strings. My string skipping on No Particular Place to Go (on bass, of course) immediately improved, but I still don't get the bass pattern during the guitar solos. However, I definitely suck less with the normal setting restored. No Particular Place to Go on bass 91%, but recovering nicely.
  15. If you find Johnny B. Goode to be too easy on bass, try No Particular Place to Go, also by Chuck Berry. It has a lot of string skipping which is kicking by butt. I'm still struggling in RR at 75% speed.
  16. RIP Chuck. Let me double check my archived CDLC to get a difficulty rating for the bass line of JBG.
  17. Radio Song is a fun track on bass. I'm starting at 98% and will make some improvements before moving on to the other selections
  18. Square Hammer on bass is up to 99%. I won't chase perfection this week because I have other tings to do.
  19. I've started working on Square Hammer on bass. So far I'm at 97%, but we'll see how far I can take it.
  20. It's down-tuning week - Perfect timing! I just strung my main bass for BEAD. I was having difficulties switching between basses of different scaIe lengths. Now with a capo on the 5th fret, my main bass is tuned EADG and has the same effective scale as my travel bass. When I want D standard tuning, I just move the capo to the 3rd fret. And Monstertruck is my first test - 100% (Don't Tell Me How To Tune) Edit - For the record... Take THAT FreeBird police!
  21. I've only just started on Dani California on bass for the week. My measly 95% doesn't hold a candle to some of the better scores already posted. I'll keep working on it.
  22. Note to self - Read the weekly challenge thread before working on a song, in case it changes ;) A&A on bass = 98.86% . I'm very happy with that score. I had to try several different fingerings for the fast riff at the end to find one where I have a chance of playing at speed.
  23. Congratulations @@Vodka. As my Russian in-laws say, "smaller children cause smaller problems". As my Canadian drinking buddies say, "with a boy, you only have to worry about one penis".
  24. You and I are FreeBirds so we don't have horses in this race. So I vote to just leave it as is. I'm working through that section in RR and can keep things together up to about 90% speed. After that, the wheels fall off.
