Movember Thread Hijack Post # 1 In honour of the late Lemmy's mo The world's simplest version of the world's simplest song = Louie Louie by Motorhead = 100% in Master Mode
-
Actually, that's perfect timing. Movember rules state that you have to start clean shaven. But being a FreeBird, I say "do what you want". BTW, How could I miss Frank Zappa from the list? Especially since he was taken down far too early by cancer.

It's been a while since I taunted the FreeBird Police, but the fun bass lines this week have flushed me out of hiding. In honour of Movember, https://ex.movember.com/ ,I challenge all wannabe FreeBirds to do both of the following during the month of November: 1) grow a 'stache and 2) post a score on a song made famous by a mustachioed rocker Channel you inner Lemmy/Freddy Mercury/Tony Iommi/Hendrix/Prince/Beatle(Sgt. Pepper era) or just about any southern rocker from the '70s. Take that FreeBird Police!

Would you believe 100% on bass on my first try at Gimme Shelter? Well you shouldn't because I've played it about 150 times over the last few years :D really fun bass line. And speaking of fun bass lines, 99.7% on Tio Sam on bass (good choice noony) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1194059945

Technically, this was from yesterday... so call the FreeBird police :P Little Bones on bass
-
Awesome song, my favorite version is the live track with "The Killer whale Tank" rant. Shouldn't that be "killerwhaletank"?... all one word.
-
Just a start - I have to get out of the man-cave and into the kitchen before I burn dinner. New Orleans is Sinking on bass more later.
-
R.I.P. Of course we will do this! @@RSjeffH - would you please choose a song of them, and test for difficulty? Rod We played Twist My Arm in week 88, and then again sometime later as a bonus bass track. Of course, now that there is a FreeBird (me) paying attention, you can trust that I never wait until next week to post a tribute. Back in a moment

I don't recall ever hearing Fluorescent Adolescent before. I like it - It's just my kind of silly. on bass = 100% Maybe I'll work on this song in master mode this week.

Rocksmith 2014 Championship Week 206
2groggy replied to fripponomic's topic in Rocksmith Championship
Current reports are that Tom Petty is clinging to life, but not expected to survive. :( Don't Do Me Like That on bass You Don't Know How It Feels on bass (with room for improvement) -

The bad news of the day...http://www.msn.com/en-ca/entertainment/music/rock-and-roll-icon-tom-petty-dead-at-66/ar-AAsP8gc?ocid=spartandhp Tribute to follow this evening... -
Riff Repeater on I'm A Believer on bass doesn't seem to work for me. @@Sphincto 's screen shot shows that number of times the song is incrementing, where it isn't fpr me. Anyhoo, I'm up to 99.5% on the second try with no RR.

I'm still working on Peg on bass as a tribute to another of the fallen rock icons. My score is no longer a train wreck, but not yet respectable... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1128941521 = 93% I'll start on Sweet Home Chicago soon just to be in tune with the rest of the challenge (like that ever mattered to me).

More sad news for the music industry...RIP: Walter Becker, co-founder and guitarist of Steely Dan https://www.tinymixtapes.com/news/rip-walter-becker-co-founder-and-guitarist-steely-dan Always one for a tribute, I tried Peg on bass. The result was a train wreck ( 80% ), but I will improve this one in the normal manner over the course of the week.

I'm not to the point of memorizing the notes of the fret board yet either. To be honest, that's just laziness on my part. Why do you think I'm a FreeBird? What I concentrate on is the patterns. E.G. up 2 strings and up 2 frets up is an octave; up one string and seven frets up is also an octave; up one string is a fourth, up one string and two frets is a fifth. But if you ask me to find a G#, I have to start counting on my fingers and toes. You don't what to know what I do at the 21st fret. So in reference to my last post... I knew that the patterns were an octave apart before thinking of them as G#5 arpeggios.
-
I don't find it to be a big deal. It's just the same pattern and timing (root - octave - fifth) up one octave starting the G# on the A string instead of the E string. That being said, I'm only up to 98% so far. I did change the fingering because I prefer to string skip instead of shift up and down the neck.

I think that I have Fly Away on bass to the point of diminishing returns = 99.84% in Master Mode. I won't chase that last random miss for ever. There's always one slide or another that doesn't register.
-
Fly Away on bass - bonus points for Master Mode B) That's only a starter score. I'll do better if I have time.
-
Have a god one @ Fripps

Like all evil geniuses, I have the irrational urge to share my previously secret half-baked evil plan before it come to fruition. Stop reading, FreeBird police. I am trying to transcribe the guitar parts of Wish You Were Here for this four string guitar tuned to open G (GDGB). Typically, the different chord voicings on a resonator sound good, but aren't recognized by Rocksmith. So I expect stinky scores but a true FreeBird doesn't care. B) I hope that none of you are silly enough to ask why, because there is neither reason nor excuse. :P
-
Here's a quick place holder while I do a feasibility study on my next attempt to offend the FreeBird Police. Wish You Were Here on Bass = 97%. I know that I could make 100% after a few passes, but my mind is on my diabolical plan. Oh, and Cheers @ Rodman!
-
Seeing as I originally chose this song, Twist My Arm, two years ago, I'll play it now. I must admit that I always had difficulties with getting the timing of the groove down. So even though it is rated as intermediate, my best score, today is only 97.5%
-
I just love the groove of The Flipside. Here's my 100% after a half an hour in RR. The last time this was in the challenge, I couldn't make it past 99.6%

I know that I haven't been around much in the last few months, but I can't pass up a tribute. <<KAPOW>><<BLAM>> As for the rest of the bass selections, I always pass on Dream Theatre and Anime themes. So I started working on the Moody Blues bass track.
