I should post a score this week, so here is the obligatory 100% Wonderful Tonight on bass. I haven't spent much time on Challenge selections this week, partly because I don't like most of them, but mostly because I've been in the workshop. The FreeBird police (if they have recovered by the ukelele assault posted above) know that that means some guitar is loosing it's head. The Secret Agent Man has been restored to 25.5" scale. A new Bass VI conversion neck has been grafted onto the Doodlecaster to make sure that I have a daily player. The spare Bass VI conversion neck has been ear-marked for @@GNat to use on a project in the Talkbass Winter Build-Off.

You get 10 points if you win your league. 5 points for second place. 3 points for third place. 1 point for 4th place. 0 points for 5th and lower. You can also get points for your effort in upper classes, if you happen to get 1st - 4th place in those classes. Your best placement at the moment is 5th place from week 255 at intermediate class of rhythm league. You had 4th place in beginner rhythm last week, but that doesn't count since you were placed into intermediate class. You can ask to be moved down to beginner class, if you feel like that's where you belong for the time being :) edit: Also there are two extra points available regardless of your end placement. 1 extra point if you complete the song in master mode. 1 extra point if you score 100 % in the song (hard mode is enough). @@Toni-Wan Kenobi - don't forget that there's FreeBird too - kind of like a RS cross between Tyler Durden and Peter Pan's lost boys. We play what we want. Better yet we don't play what we don't want. And we occasionally deposit steaming piles in the Master Class tree houses. FB will keep you working on a couple of new songs a week. When you want to jump back into competition, you just say so and go back to your previous class.

Somebody call the FreeBird Police

GJWHF on bass - 100%

Breathing Underwater on bass = 100% Cross Eyed Mary on bass = 99.8% . I believe that we already played this one a long time ago. It only took me a few passes to beat my previous mastery score. I haven't decided whether I will chase the myth of perfection on Cross Eyed Mary or just jump ahead to Fishbone.

Some first tries on bass (once through on RR, then play it) 100% on Action Cat 99% on The Razor's Edge Cars will take more time in RR because it's just a weird line. I fell asleep and forgot to take a screen shot, but I certainly had room for improvement.

Been a crazy week. I took this screenshot last weekend and forgot to post it. I never even went back to improve my score... Better luck next week Rhinocerous on bass and I don't even care about the score
-
I've had a busy weekend and day today, so I haven't put in enough work to match my previous score on Riverboat Song. So here's my lame attempt to get back into it. Improvements to follow later in the week.
-
I don't like re-tunig just for one song, so I started with What's Up = 98.6% on bass - I will improve that before moving on to Get The Funk Out,
-
Take Me to Church on bass = 100% on the second try I was getting a lot of note recognition issues on Sex On Fire, so I'm going to try @@blejusca 's link (thanks) As for Are You Mine, I never really got that track down, and haven't played it in a long time. I'm going to try to transpose it on the fly to keep as much of it as possible between the 2nd and 5th frets.
-
Smooth Criminal on bass ~99% Given the speed, I'm not expecting to improve.
-
Dis Moi on bass - 100%

This song by @LaceyB is no longer available. LaceyB passed away a few months back. http://customsforge.com/index.php/topic/46027-laceyb-has-gone/?hl=lacey RIP I'll try to find another link.

You're welcome. While I was at it, I added 2 tracks by The Beat. How T.F. did I miss them? I had The English Beat, but not The Beat. (Same band, different name in North America for legal reasons). I guess that that tells you where I'm from. Edit - Added several UB40 tracks

I finally got around to adding all of the Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto tracks to the OP. Thanks @@Saturnation for waking me up ;)

Chain of Fools 99% Respect 98%

Being a FreeBird, The recycling of week 250 isn't a big deal. If I like a week's song selection, I make submissions. If you notice my absence, the selected songs are probably not to my personal taste. I will use this week as an opportunity try out a more guitar like finger picking style. I normally use the floating thumb technique, where the thumb rests on the next lower pitch unplucked string and pluck with my index and middle fingers. I'm going to try plucking with thumb and two fingers to see how that works for me. I'll have to dust off the exercises and post any resulting train wreck.
-
Whenever I post about "transcribing on the fly", I really mean playing my preferred fingerings with the same notes, but not adjusting the charts. I did this all the time, even before building the Bass VI. So I don't even bother recharting it. (take that FreeBird Police)

I'll just drop my first two bass tracks here for today... 100% on Louie Louie - The original version has a much more challenging bass part, but Lemmy was not known for embellishments. 99.3% on Help I'll move on to Europa, but need some time to transcribe it to my bass VI tuning. Transcribing on the fly was a train wreck.

Still Take Yo Home on bass 100% I might not get a try on Gods of Whatever this week because I am rebuilding my headless 34" scale bass into a headless bass VI. It will be tuned to D standard, so that with a Capo on the second fret, it will have the same scale and tuning as a "normal" bass VI. Whenever a song needs me to downtune to Eb or D, I will just move the capo. Edit... almost forgot...Take THAT FreeBird Police!

Rolling in the Deep on bass 100% Contrary to @@NoonyDeloony and @@ZeroPingNZ, I find Highway To Hell far easier than the Arctic Monkeys' track - 100% on HTH, but still working my speed up on Still Take You Home

After a few passes in RR, I scored 99.2% on bass on Du Nich. Unfortunately, the screen shot didn't upload to Steam properly, so no link. Rather than just play the track again and take another screen shot, I choose to blame the FreeBird Police and vow revenge. The FreeBirds have been complacent for too long. So thus follows, my diabolical plan: The weapons at my disposal are my "Secret Agent Man" bass-VI, tuned EADGCF, one octave below guitar tuning, and the DLC for Gangsters, which I have played on bass about 168 times. I played it today for yet another 100%. Hint to beginners - this track is trickier than it looks because most of the bass is played behind the beat. Now I bet that you are all asking yourselves, "OMG, will he play it in Master Mode?". NOOOO! far too predictable! This week, I will play the guitar part above the 12th fret on the Secret Agent Man. The plan is still in need of a few last details - Will I capo the 12th fret? Will I tune to EADGBE?? Why??? Stay tuned for updates. Take THAT FreeBird Police!
