  1. click on the [CDLC] button at the top of this page to open the search window. At the top right there is a button for [Filters]. There is a filter for tunings
  2. I didn't get a chance to post yesterday's progress - minimal progress, but progress. Underwear on bass http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=485872715 Sweet Dreams rhythm played on a bass tuned to open G http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=485872725 Apparently straightening the truss rod tuning to open G,and nailing the intonation don't really help with chord recognition above the 12th fret. I'd better find some interesting explanation to avoid the conclusion that the problem is actually my skill level. I should probably get on with The Grunge before the week is gone.
  3. Srlsy, someone run to a donut shop and find the Freebird police. When 2groggy couldn't get the G# chords to register, he re-tuned his bass in open G and it only made things worse. Now he's threatening that tomorrow he might try Sweet Dreams rhythm on bass in open G with a slide. Either that or he'll start loosening the truss rod, lowering the action and playing with the intonation. Nothing good can come of any of this.
  4. Somebody call the Freebird police. 2Groggy is doing weird and tasteless things in public...Sweet Dreams Rhythm track played on a bass. "Why?" you all ask. "Do you really expect a logical answer?" I reply. To play in the correct register, I transposed up one string and up seven frets. I ran out of strings for a few cords, and the decode routine really wasn't fond of a lot of my bar cords, but I scored just shy of 80%
  5. Making some improvements... Underwear on bass. I can get 100% accuracy up to about 90% speed in RR. At full speed, I score 97%. I'll keep working on it. Sweet Dreams on bass I've gotten up to 96.3%. I haven't bothered with RR, because it's the slides that mess me up and I really don't care. In the freebird spirit, I am going to try something different with this song.
  6. no screen shot, but I can make it through Underwear with no misses in RR at 85% speed. So I'll start slowly increasing the speed until I can play through at full speed.
  7. I did a couple of runs through Sweet Dreams on bass and only got 92%. Hmmmm, I'll have to look to see what I'm missing. And spend some time in RR for Underwear on bass. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=484105708 This one is fun to work on, so I'll focus on it for a few days,
  8. Is this is all in English?! Just checking :P. Brits and their weird language. I was in Montreal on business for a couple of days. What on earth did I miss? @@NoonyDeloony - If I'm ever on your side of the pond and you're having a party, I want an invite! I'll bring car keys and try to stay on the correct side of the road.
  9. I got my second bass working again so I can leave one in standard tuning and the other in drop tuning. (yes, I'm that lazy) So here's All That She Wants after a slow RR pass and a couple of runs through = 98% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=480443879
  10. I haven't spent much time on Jethro Tull yet, and I won't for a few days. After once through RR at 80% speed, I tried full speed and got just over 80% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=480426822
  11. Fair enough. I'll still play Free Bird :D
  12. In first for Free Bird. This week I'm playing bass on Hard to Handle by Otis Redding. The version doesn't have DD and RR is all one section, but I could slow it down to pick up the riffs. My score came up as 98.88%, but I still hear a lot of room for improvement in timing. The song is simple enough for me to aim for 100% in master mode by the end of the week. Given that the FB rules are deliberately nonrestrictive, I'll explain how I plan to play. I'll focus on bass (not a surprise)I'll focus on one song per week and try to master it in the same way as player in a classI'll try to pick a song for which I already own a legitimate licensed copy on vinyl or CDOf course all other FBs should play as they please. That is the point.
  13. Seeing as I haven't been able to buy a point in eight weeks, I'll give Freebird a try. That will save me from whining like a wounded dog about needing to drop back to intermediate bass. Time is limited this week, but I'll get you some test results.
  14. I have the same problem running FireFox on Ubuntu 14.02. I don't have the problem running Firefox on the Windows laptop at work. edit - Ubuntu 14.04
  15. Spend your money on getting a technician to set up the guitar the you already own. Forget mods. ignore shiny things. Get the most out of the LPJR before spending money on a new machine that will probably need a setup anyway. Better yet; learn how to do your own setups
  16. @@DevStereo, I have a skull trophy for sale. I skipped a week a while ago and will be away on surf safari next week. The mods/gods will take it away if you don't pick it up soon. it has been aggressively discounted... mint condition...going for a song...
  17. http://www.udiscovermusic.com/chris-squire-r-i-p I learned this from talkbass.com
  18. Maybe I'll recognize it with the guitar in the mix.
  19. I'd imagine he's doing that so he can hear the bass part clearly while he's playing along with it. Probably not necessary for the fast part of the song, but it might help for the softer part of the song. I remember @then3everend also used the noguitar version of 21st Century Schizoid man a few times when we had that battle. That or he just really wanted to know what the bass on ...And Justice for All actually sounds like :P Let's pretend that this is the real reason.
  20. Why are you playing the bass part with "no guitar"? Good question. So I have a question for your first. Does the "no guitar" mean that is is a CDLC with only a bass part, or that the guitar was stripped out of the audio? I assumed the former, and never having heard the song before, I didn't know the difference. It did sound a little sparse, though.
  21. I'd forgotten about Fields of Gold. I had downloaded it months ago, played it twice, and then deleted it to make room. It took 3 times through but got the 100% that I wanted last week ;-) Yes, this is a far simpler song to play, but I believe that musicians sound better if they can master a simple song rather than butcher a difficult one
  22. One on bass. The first half seems a little random to me, partly because I've never heard the song before The second half is one of those avalanches of sixteenth notes that causes the high scores and long streaks on bass even when my timing is messed up.
  23. aaaaargh! If it isn't the second slide then it's the third slide... One miss. Every time. For the last 3 days. Needless to say, I'm a tad frustrated with BTO on bass.
  24. I still need to tidy up the measure before the second slide http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=468581790, but I'm almost there.
