  1. It doesn't HAVE to be Cherub Rock, though as ShrillBear52 said, most customs use that as the AppID so it is the easiest. However, if you choose not to buy Cherub Rock you MUST buy a RS2014 dlc. RS1 dlc won't work at all. It has to be an official DLC that was released for RS2014. Keep in mind that if you choose something other than Cherub Rock you'll need to use the RS Custom Toolkit to change the AppID of each custom you download to match whatever dlc you do buy.

  3. Sounds like you forgot the .dll file.
  4. When was the last time you calibrated your guitar inside Rocksmith?
  5. You can find all of the instructions here: http://customsforge.com/topic/10547-how-to-add-custom-songs-on-mac/
  6. Yeah, 3.1db is the default setting for the game. You would usually only need to change it if your guitar was too quiet in general. I'm not really sure what could be causing tone problems, but I have some questions to try and rule out some things. When was the last time you changed the batteries for the active pups? Is your version of RS2014 a legit purchased version? Is the dlc that you've been trying legit and purchased?
  7. Have you been recalibrating after switching guitars? There's a huge difference in output between active and passive pickups.
  8. @@Dazzcoll, what's your Real Tone Cable gain set at? You can check in the game under the Options menu. Also, what is the input volume set at under your OS X Sound settings (System Preferences -> Sound -> Input -> Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter)? I think 40% is the default value, which is fine. Also, does your guitar have active or passive pickups? (I'm a fellow Mac user too, btw)
  9. @@Dazzcoll, have you tried calibrating your guitar inside RS2014?
  10. @@Bingles, what kind of stability/crashing issues are you having? Updating AppID's works fine with any of the native versions of the Toolkit for Mac, and always has. Same with converting files. The only time I ever run into an issue with converting is if the filename has a "." in it (before the file extension). So "file.name_m.psarc" for example will cause a crash, whereas "filename_m.psarc" will not. The only part of the Toolkit that doesn't work properly is actually importing and creating cDLC's, and that's because there isn't a proper working version of vWise for Mac that is compatible with the Toolkit.
  11. Thanks for letting me know. I'll add that to the instructions. Looks like the dlc purchased has to be licensed for RS2014. Glad you got it working :)
  12. Buying Cherub Rock will definitely save you some time, because you won't have to change the AppID of pretty much every cDLC that you download. I'll try and think of anything else that might be causing it not to work.
  13. Were you playing RS2014 on PC before? Or only the original Rocksmith? The only other thing I can think of is that Dammit was Rocksmith DLC, and not RS2014 DLC. It could have something to do with that.
  14. To rule out some things, can you answer the following please: Is your version of RS2014 legit, and purchased through Steam (or by Steam key)? Did you actually buy the DLC, and not just pirate it from somewhere else? Did you wait for the song list to finish enumerating before going into "Learn A Song"? Have you tried removing all of the cDLC that you've downloaded from your DLC folder and tried with just 1?

  18. Why not just ask him what he likes and what he wants to learn and then see if it's available? Learning to play guitar (and just playing in general) is a lot easier and more fun when you're playing songs you know and like instead of songs you don't know very well.
  19. Did you follow all of the steps in the tutorial? http://customsforge.com/topic/901-how-to-use-custom-dlcs-in-rs2014/
  20. Did you download the .dll file again and put it in the Rocksmith root folder?
  21. @@peteh, did you put the .dll file into the Rocksmith root folder? That's likely what you missed.
  22. Here's a little guide of the symbols and techniques in RS2014: http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/ncsa/rocksmith/website/guides/Notehead-tail%20guide.pdf Going through some of the lessons in the game will also help you a lot in figuring out what the different symbols mean and how to properly execute the technique.
  23. As long as you transfer your save profile, all of your progression in the game will be transferred with it. You can also move cdlc in and out of the dlc folder at any time without losing the progression. If you have Steam's Cloud feature enabled (which it normally is by default) then you won't even have to copy your profile over to your new computer. Simply reinstall Steam, download RS again, and it will download your profile as well. I play RS on 3 different computers. My profile is updated on all three by the Steam Cloud.
