Can you verify that it works then please? A few other people have tried and said it didn't actually work in game. If it does work, that's great :) Yeah, it works perfectly! Just select Rocksmith 2012 Disc Import Pack (258341) in the patcher, convert the songs and install them and the DLL like normal. Only problem is finding a song that isn't ludicrously difficult for an intermediate, or really easy.

Actually I just downloaded the toolkit to check and Rocksmith 2012 Disc Import Pack is listed as an option, so I can use CDLC without owning any DLC, as I asked. Thanks for the help anyway :)

Is there an option in the patcher to use a song from the RS1 song selection to import CDLC? I don't have any other DLC and don't want to waste my time downloading things if it won't work. Sorry if this is a duplicate post but the search won't work and Google isn't showing any relevant results.
