  1. It's not really possible. Most of the customs posted here would need to be converted to PS3 format first, which is PC/Mac only software. Then, as you've already read, you need PC/Mac software to transfer the files to your PS3. You also need to mod/jailbreak your PS3 in order to have access to the filesystem and to be able to load the customs.
  2. It can't just be a reboot. It happens all the time. Sometimes several times in the span of a few hours. I always assumed that it's because the server(s) is overloaded or the website has exceeded it's allocated bandwidth.
  3. It's also part of the Toolkit.
  4. Whether the file is referenced as a "Document" or "Unix Executable File" in Finder makes no difference. Mac just can't seem to decide on what to call them sometimes. In fact, for me, usually only about 1 in every 10 customs gets referenced as a Unix Executable file. It seems to depend on what file hosting service it was downloaded from. The rest all show up as Documents. As long as the files end in "_m.psarc" then they're fine. Just make sure you've got everything installed in the proper directory, you have Steam open before running RSInjector, and that you've purchased "Cherub Rock" by the Smashing Pumpkins. Have read through this thread: http://customsforge.com/topic/10547-how-to-add-custom-songs-on-mac/ You'll find a lot of good info there for running customs on Mac.
  5. Dazed Confused is technically a cover by both the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin. It was originally written and recorded by Jake Holmes in 1967 and was never officially recorded by the Yardbirds (only a live version was recorded). Jimmy Page stole the song while with the Yardbirds and recorded it as a Led Zeppelin song, but Holmes was too foolish to do anything about it at the time. I believe Mistreated was never officially recorded by either Whitesnake or Rainbow (except live), but I would consider both a cover. Same with Catch the Rainbow. It's a bit of a grey area though, depending on how you look at it. Since the original songwriters are the ones performing the song, it's technically their song. But, like I said, it's a grey area... Dave Grohl wrote "Marigold" and released it on his indie album Pocketwatch!, under the name "Late!" in 1992. It was then re-recorded by Grohl during Nirvana's In Utero sessions, and released as a b-side to the Heart-Shaped Box single in 1993, and credited as a Nirvana song. A live version was then recorded and released by the Foo Fighters on Skin and Bones. So does that make it a cover of a cover of a cover?
  6. Older customs that were packed with an older version of the Toolkit, and don't include a custom tone, cause this to happen. The newer versions of the Toolkit automatically assign a default tone if no custom tone is added to eliminate the problem. You can repack the custom(s) with the current Toolkit to correct the problem so that it stops happening.
  7. No. You'll have to buy RS1 for PC, and then buy the Disc Import Tool in order to import the songs into RS2014 (unless you're okay with simply playing RS1 when you want to play those songs). All of the songs except two (an Eric Clapton song and a Cream song) import into RS2014. RS1 goes on sale quite frequently, and usually for a good price. Steam's Spring Sale should be coming up soon and there's a good chance it will be on sale again then. If you add RS1 to your wishlist inside Steam, you will get a notification when it goes on sale.
  8. If you have a DropBox account you can also put them in the "Public" folder as well.
  9. Sorry, I think that was my fault. Looks like somehow the link got some extra characters added at some point that were making it invalid. I've corrected it now.
  10. @@fabbr, did you make sure that Cherub Rock downloaded properly into your dlc folder? Sometimes there's a delay if you purchased it in the Steam store and then launched RS right away. The easiest way to confirm is to check the song list to see if it's listed and playable. Also, not being able to access the store from within the game is normal while using RSInjector. the Steam overlay is disable when RSInjector is used to open the game. I usuallly just use the Steam store inside the Steam app to purchase my dlc. If you have Cherub Rock properly downloaded and you're able to play it, then there are a few things to try out: 1. Make sure that the customs you downloaded use Cherub Rock as their AppID. Most of the songs here do, but some don't. If you go to the record page on this forum for the songs you downloaded it will say on the information page. 2. If you downloaded songs from other sites/torrents I would get rid of those as they may be corrupted to begin with. 3. Read the comments of the songs you downloaded to see if any users have reported problems with them. 4. If you downloaded the Mac versions of the songs you are trying to use from this site, try downloading the PC version and converting it yourself using the Toolkit. A lot of older customs that were converted with older versions of the Toolkit hang in the game. If none of the above help, let me know and we'll go from there.
  11. That is a Tronical. They make them for Gibson/Epiphone. I have one installed on my Gibson LP and I think it's great. I don't find manual tuning to be a problem at all. Sure, the tuning heads are a little stiffer, but they turn just fine. You can also use the up/down buttons to have the Tronical move the heads independantly for you. It's one of the main guitars I use for playing RS because I can switch tunings in between songs in a matter of seconds. If it wasn't for the Tronical I'd likely never play any songs in D standard, Open A, or Open G.
  12. Yeah, I always assumed that the skins were configured/set in RS itself, and not in the psarc files. Since they're unlockable "extras" that are user dependant, it would make sense. But I've never actually paid any attention to the gear while playing customs/official songs to see whether or not the skins change. I just always assumed that if I changed the skin on some gear, whatever tone used that gear would use that skin. Have you tried assigning your custom tone with the skin changes to the Tone Stick and then selecting it while playing the custom you used that tone with to see if the skin change applies then?
  13. Do you mean how do you unlock them? Or how do you use them? You unlock them by completing various missions, and they get unlocked in order. Here's a link that has a list of all of the rewards: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/802338-*SPOILER*-How-to-Unlock-Rewards-(Normal-Uplay)-and-Full-List-of-Rewards-Forums To use them, you just open up Tone Designer, pick your amp/cab, and select "Change Skin". The default RS tone that loads when you start the game has three colours for the amp, for example.
  14. Have you checked the websites for your local stores? The 2015 models are coming out in the next 2-4 weeks, so most places here in my area are having inventory clearance sales to dump the old models. I'm always skeptical about buying guitars online, unseen. You never know what you're getting in the end. Lots of places that sell guitars at high discounts online are selling b-stock stuff.
  15. Somebody (can't remember the groups name) claims that a jailbreak will be available at some point in 2015, but I'll believe it when I see it. Never say never, but I doubt it will happen. Nobody can jailbreak a ps3 past OFW 3.55 and only on models that are ancient, so I'm not getting my hopes up.
  16. You can try online classified sites like Craigslist, etc. I picked up an extra cable for $10. There are other methods to use different types of cables with Rocksmith using a type of crack, but you'll still need some form of 1/4" patch cable-to-USB adapter. Or a sound card with a 1/4" input. Both of which are either an equal cost or more expensive than the realtone cable. **Edit** I just took a quick glance at Craigslist for Atlanta (not sure where in Georgia you live obviously, but you can narrow down the search results to nearby cities).... There's a few people selling the game and cables. One person was selling the 360 version with cable for $15. So it's at least a viable option to search there for a cheap cable. It doesn't matter what platform the cable is for either. They're all the same. The only difference is that the cables that came with RS1 do not work with USB 3.0 ports. Other than that, they're all the same.
  17. Was it @@L33tr's version of Stairway? I downloaded the Mac version he posted and it works fine for me. I also downloaded @@GetTheLedOut's version of Hotel California. It looks like, based on the comments, there are some issues with v1 of that song. He' updated the PC version to v1.1, but not the Mac version he posted. I downloaded the PC version of v1.1 and converted it with the Toolkit and it worked fine as well. Give it a try and see if it works for you: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6fskdeuw014vdwl/Eagles_Hotel-California_v1_1_m.psarc?dl=0 If you downloaded different versions of those songs, let me know and I'll try them out. There are several versions of each song posted.
  18. There's nothing to run for the import tool. It basically just gives you the licenses for the on-disc songs, which are already part of the RS2014 game (sort of). It's possible that that one file got corrupted somehow, but Steam should have fixed it for you when you verified the files. Any RS1 dlc is automatically forward-compatible with RS2014. The only caveat is that you have to own RS1 to purchase them through Steam, which obviously won't affect you since you already own it.
  19. If you're a PC user you shouldn't have to convert anything, since all customs from here are natively for PC. However, the source/target you listed is the regular default settings for the toolkit. I just did a check in my game though, and Mean Bitch is a RS1 song. That's why you can't find it in your dlc folder. Did you buy RS1 and the import tool? If so, one of the files related to RS1 may be the file that Steam said is corrupted.
  20. That usually works, but not always. It's weird that you can't find the file for the song, and yet it shows up in your song list in the game.
  21. Did you purchase it? If so, you can try redownloading it from Steam.
  22. If you're talking about the Taddy Porter song, it's an official DLC. If you purchased it, the file could have possibly gotten corrupted, but it's more likely (if you did purchase it) that there's a conflict with another song. Try removing any other custom with "bitch" (or maybe "mean") in the title and see if that fixes it. If you pirated the song, you won't be able to get any help from here.
