  1. Just built a new PC this week which is why I'm a bit later than usual The steam overlay currently isn't working for me so I wasn't able to get europa. Guess I'll just take the L ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ To be completely honest, I don't like the gog song this week. Not because the song it self sucks but because it's one of those technique show off songs and I don't enjoy randomly playing notes in the hope that I get some.
  2. Finally moved into my new apartment but I'm not in the clear yet. Should be back to full participation by the end of August instead of my usual 1-2 submissions a week Really enjoying this one, also appreciating that its my style of playing and the sweep sections are at my level as well
  3. As fast as this song is, I was expecting a much harder and faster solo. No clue why it says 97% mastery as well @@ZeroPingNZ After playing the bass track, I don't think its random. If you listen carefully you can hear the drum kick go from playing eighth to sixteenth notes or essentially doubling its speed. If you're having a hard time keeping rhythm then unfortunately the only way to get better is to practice with a metronome. Rhythm is one of those things that can't be taught, you'll have to practice until you understand it. If you don't have/want to use a metronome then play prog. songs or songs with odd time signatures. It's a good way to learn rhythm since it'll be constantly changing.
  4. @@ZeroPingNZ I'll probably take a look at it later tonight and I'll get back to you with what I find
  5. What song and problem are you having so I can take a look at it?
  6. @@ZeroPingNZ It was a bit harder than I thought finding songs that were playable but also had techniques that would help with stretching. I'm not sure what is easy for you but all these are intermediate - advanced. The only way to get better is to push yourself. DLC difficulty notes Black - Pearl Jam 6 good chords but the ending is what you need Pardon me - incubus 5 Mr. Brightside - the killers 7 will help adjust to odd hand shapes Message in a bottle - Police 7 Probably the best song to help besides "every breath you take" CDLC Erotomania - Dream Theater 6 The intro will help with using all 4 fingers Stream of consciousness - D.T 6 Lots of stretchy chords and quick fretting. Only thing that isn't playable is the solo 30-hour workout - Steve Vai x If you want to get better I highly recommend using this to practice In Game Plug-in baby - Muse 6
  7. @@ZeroPingNZ I'm actually able to stretch my fingers to reach the 15th fret. so I keep my 1st finger on the 10th, 2nd on the 12th and I use my pinkie to slide between the 14th and 15th fret or I just use my ring finger depending on the setup. When trying the string skip I found the easiest way might be to try keeping the 2nd finger on the 10th fret and sliding the 1st finger behind your 2nd to play the 9th and 10th fret while using the pinkie to play the 12th fret. For now I recommend playing songs with suspended chords to help with flexibility. Sus chords use 3 fingers and go up 2 frets on each string. Example: e|-------------------------------------------------------------------| B|-------------------------------------------------------------------| G|-------------------------------9-----------7----------------------| D|------6----------11-----------7-----------5----------------------| A|------4-----------9-----------5-----------3----------------------| E|------2-----------7-----------------------------------------------| If you'd like I can recommend some songs that will help you get used to stretching your fingers. It'll hurt but it's the best way to get your hand adjusted to making those moves. For now the best example that comes to mind is "every breath you take - police". It might be a bit hard for you but you should at least practice it so you can get used to the hand shape.
  8. You should keep practicing until you can improve the flexibility and dexterity of your hand. However, you can bypass it in the mean time by using the g string to play the 14th and 15th frets. I put a tab example below like how you would play the picture above. The 14th fret on D is the same as the 9th fret on G and the 15th fret on D is the same as the 10th fret on G. e|---------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------| G|-------------------9--------------------9---------10---------| D|-------12---------x---------12--------x----------x----------| A|-------10--------10--------10--------10--------10---------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------| Nvm, just saw one of your more recent posts and saw that you already knew to skip a string. It'll definitely be easier on the hand but it might also be harder in a different way. Just experiment and see what works best for you.
  9. Idk why but this song puts a real strain on my wrist with all the power chords. Gonna be a real test of endurance for me
  10. @@MellonFarmer No worries, it's the effort that counts. Just keep practicing until you're able to play it. I gave it a try again and it's an irregular pattern so you would have to memorize the entire section. Don't feel bad if you're not able to play it because it's pretty tough for me as well.
  11. @@MellonFarmer I believe in you, just keep practicing and you should be able to meet your goal. Note detection on Run for cover isn't working for me so I'm just gonna take the L this week for the masterclass. You're only 0.3% behind vjohnal so keep working and get the win this week
  12. Late to the party once again Note detection is pretty wonky for me, might try again but I might also just take the L Always a pleasure to play anything by JP even though I'm not good enough to play his stuff well yet
  13. Another great week and another week I feel like I'm not able to play enough Slight Improvements Fun song to play, Opeth is becoming one of my favorite bands to play
  14. Well, better late then never I guess What I've learned after being in the championship for almost half a year is that if a masterclass song seems easy. It means the solo is going to be incredible hard. Surprisingly I already had this song in my playlist. Idk why but for some reason the way the lyrics where charted just bothers me. I don't get why they put "2" and "U" instead of putting "to" and "you". Everything else is in English, why did you have to put texting acronyms
  15. If you mean you've repaired it yourself then it's fine. I've done it a few times as well to repair songs or just modify the tones and volume. As long as you're not changing the song in EOF then it should be allowed.
  16. Trying a new strategy since I'm not as active as I was a couple months ago. Doing a few playthroughs instead of just one so I can have a semi-competitive score while I wait for more free time. Customary selection playthrough Good song but not my style so it took quite a few runs before I was able to play this decently
  17. First plays of the week, wish I wasn't so busy so I could participate a bit more and sooner.
  18. Score update, looks like I'm gonna have to start practicing Evile some more as well
  19. @@Rodman No worries, I figured you were probably busy or swamped with other notifications. Interesting that it's traded and not a permanent award. Means I'm gonna have to keep working a lot more if I wanna get as good as joker.
  20. @@Rodman Left me on read last week bro. How do you get the gog award? I probably won't get it for a while but it's nice to have a goal.
  21. First plays of the week @@Rodman Just for future reference, how does one acquire the greatest award? The gog award? I don't see myself getting it for a while but it's nice to know what the goal is.
  22. Another great selection, seems like I have no clue when I'll finally get some free time to fully practice so it seems participation from me will be pretty minimal for a while
