  4. Not a huge deal but kinda annoying.... If you click on my profile page you will see me steam ID as Michio XL(I added the XL to try and fix this because there was more than one Michio) Then off to the side(when I am in my profile editor) it some random name that isn't Michio or me at all. The names aren't even close. That's when I added the XL which no one else has and it still showed the same name. This after clearing out the cache of the other person. This is what I assume everyone else would see if they clicked on my profile and it would send them to a steam profile which isn't me. Don't work to hard on an answer, ill just delete the steam link totally if no one knows what the deal is.

  8. Just a warning for others. Use what Motive does.
  9. FYI Evanescence sent me to zippyfile which popped up a very unforgiving pop up that I had to go into task manager to shut down. Just annoying and letting people know in advance. Yes I have pop up protectors on and such.

  11. @@Joey - You could just ask a true beginner if it is an appropriate song for the class? I mean I could just go down my mastery list and say what an appropriate song is. If all beginners submitted a list say from 100% to 85% mastery it would give you a good guideline anyway. Then simply weed out any official DLC and other no no's. Just me thinking out loud.
  12. I personally think we should be challanged in the begginer class as well. Im not saying to toss up crazy song but just because it has a small solo in it I dont think it needs to be taken off the begginers list. Id rather get 70-80's on a challanging song than 90-100's on an easy song.

  14. The original post says we can add our own reasons for being apart of this comp. For me I really am competitive but it is not why I am doing this. I did it for focus. I have been playing the guitar for less than a year now and only seriously started playing more and more when RS2014 came out. I found out very early about people making songs to play such as a little know previous site to this and CF as well. I wanted to play everything....I am 38 and have enjoyed music as long as I can remember. Older brother is 6 years older than me so I grew up on Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Maiden and a long list I wont write. Got older and got into Pantera, Rush, Tool, Queensryche, Dream Theater and so on. I always enjoyed very skilled musicians and was an expert air guitarist(wasn't focused enough for the real thing then). Long story short is I wanted to play everything, every note that was already ingrained in my head from 30+ years of being a die hard Metal fan. This contest allows me focus each week on a song or songs and play stuff I never would have played before...Scorpions and The Black Crows(from week 37 as I write) would never make it to my play list but The Black crows at beginner level isn't a cake walk which pushes me to learn the song even more which in turn helps me become a better player. Bottom line is this helps focus your skills into a song for a week before moving onto the next while RS2014 missions will have you playing 10 songs in an hour.

  16. Try releasing conversions of your own. You'll get very deep in the understanding how a song is build up, about tuning, timing ...and if you care, you have to test your project a lot of times before giving it out to public. That's the way I stick with a song. I have come a long ways in 4 months but thanks for the tips :) Chords started to seem more common between songs so moving from one song to the next got easier and I started to notice more commonalities in songs.
  17. Lots of APC, slipknot, dethklok, mudvayne and so on in C# C standard and custom tuned where the low E is in B. Its all good. the tech who set me up recommended Ernie Ball skinny top fat bottom and they do very well. I learn more everyday.
  18. I am getting a new guitar and was wondering if there was a magic gauge that could go from E standard to say down to C standard(maybe lower on some songs). As you know on Rocksmith we are changing tunings often enough if we are cycling through songs. I am wondering if 12's will be tight enough on the lower settings but loose enough on standard E to get a little bend action still? Anyone, any thoughts on the matter? Having multiple guitars around(or rather buying multiple guitars atm) just isn't an option though I could keep my Fender around for E standard with its 9 gauge but I prefer an all in one solution if possible. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    Newb help

Hello CF world. Long story short. I cant go to a guitar center to pick out my guitar and have to trust in the word of others. I posted before but I think I have finally decided on a guitar to step up to from my Squire Strat. Can anyone please tell me... does anything stand out about this guitar as being not worth the price? Are the pickups decent and all that god stuff? I am needing that 24th fret and I figure I might as well get a mid grade guitar over my 60 dollar used Squire. Ok I cant paste for some reason... its an Ibanez GRG270DXB The other I was thinking of is the RGD320 Which is tuned to D standard rather than E standard. I play more drop D and D standard and even C standard is why I leaned towards this but wasn't sure how going back to tuning to E standard would work? I would think just a bit harder to bend n stuff... it comes down to you!! please help a newb make a final choice. Thanks in advance.
  20. I thank you all for the help. I f i didn tmention it above I can not simply grab my pocket money and go to the guitar store. I am disabled and I play Rocksmith to basically waste time but I have gotten decent at it and its why i want to make the next step up because I love the music and want to improve even more.. My disability leaves my less than mobile without a lot of planning which is why i was asking for specifics from this community. I know there is 50 different guitars that would fit well, I was just hoping someone could point out a specific guitar for me with what im looking for such as 24 frets and better pickups. A lot of Dimebag stuff has that 22nd fret i need... and i want the game to recognize a sustain for more than 3 seconds and actually pickup that im am bending the crap out of the string. The thinner neck was just a bonus and the Ibanez has that easy sit on your lap and play for hours shape so i was leading towards that. If anyone wishes to suggest a model that fits those small guidelines and isn't an arm and a leg in price... I would love it. I wont hold it against you if it isn't perfect because I am not an expert and didn't even know what to look for at all before this thread. I know not to get humbucker or single coil which was a huge help because a lot of what i was looking at had one or the other on it. The only other thing i can do is call guitarcenter and tell them these same things and have them suggest a guitar which they will likely look for a higher priced one.. So if anyone want to shoot some models at me. I will purchase from Guitarcenter and there is so many listed it is hard to pick even based on what i know now... I can pay more than 200 bucks. i was expecting more like 3-400 or so for a good mid range guitar. Again, Thanks in advance.
  21. Thanks thlunasa. Like i said the Fender was a good start. A thinner neck will do wonders for my hands as i miss a lot of chords that need stretching, pretty much non simple chords:) Only 5 foot 9 so my hands aren't huge by any means. I will check into Agile as well.
  22. Sorry the Quote didn't work. Was replying to Mvega for this first part. I cant seem to copy/paste either... different problem though:) I grew up on Slayer, Megadeth, Pantera, Prong and so on. Got introduced to Rush, Floyd and Queensryche have always been a fan since and now listen to other progressive styles like Dream Theater, Nightwish and ill toss Tool into progressive. I also listen to the Nu metal I guess its called like Mudvayne, Deftones(Tonedef backwards) Fear Factory, slipknot, Soulfly, static-X. Don't know how to classify the rest. Older Incubus, NiN, Nirvana. AIC, Manson or SOAD. Not a full list but I can switch from E-standard Megadeth to Rush to C# Static X back to Drop D Tool or Pantera in a moments notice. Mvega I named the guitars Dimebag and Mustaine play:) but as you can see i enjoy more then just old school Metal. I have been looking at Dean and Ibanez, atleast leaning towards that way, more towards the Ibanez after all the replies. Noahfence, My concern for tuning is gone now. I constantly change while playing and have no problem tuning. May not be perfect by ear but I always know if I am tuning up or down based on my previous tune and roughly what it should sound like. Thanks Philo5080 for the lengthy response. You have guided me towards Ibanez the most along with Dazed giving me specific Models to look at. The biggest problem of it all is i am a disabled Vet. I cant just run to Guitar center and pick up 20 different guitars looking for the right one, my condition sadly doesn't allow for it and I will be doing an online buy. This is why i needed the guidance of passionate players which this site obviously has to sit and recreate music for others to enjoy learning from. Thanks for all the responses and in that may come after. Playing guitar will never be anything i become a pro at but I love playing along with the bands I grew up with, no matter how bad i am at it:)
  23. I know this will probably get 50 different answers based on user preference but I have no idea what to step up to next for a guitar. I bought a Squier Affinity Strat about 6 months ago never have picked up a guitar before except for a couple of days in my youth which don't account for any real world value. I got it at Guitarcenter for about 60 bucks in what looked like new condition to me and all I had to go on was how it felt in my hands since I barely know how to hold one and of course being a Metalhead all my life I know the big name brands and Fender is a recognizable name. It has been great for me to this point but I am getting to the point where I need that 22nd fret. I also am getting I think it is called fret buzz on 2 strings but the Low E is pretty bad on the 1-9ish frets. So rather than having a pro setup the guitar to fix this, I am thinking of a new guitar. I also have a problem where the game doesn't recognize my bends even though I have broken a couple of strings now trying to get the game to register that I am actually doing it... This would be the pickups I am guessing? So that is my dilemma. I need a guitar that has 24 playable frets with decent electronics in it so I can progress in the game with bends. I really like the way the Strat sits on my lap when playing but I am sure I would get used to another style though I think except like the Dave Mustaine Dean or the Dimebag Dean extreme styles due to me sitting to play as much as I love to play the music. Any of you kind souls out there that know much more than me, I ask of your guidance. I am not sure of my price range but if its the right thing I guess I don't really have one but if it come down to a Corvette or a guitar... I am going with the Vette. I will most likely get it from guitarcenter if that will help in the guidance. Thanks in advance Tonedef
  24. Thanks tRIACTIs I guess the week is almost up but maybe they could add the link to the first post since the song is kinda hidden.
