  1. Got em nothing sticks out other than the SoundRecorder error, I'm taking it the order sent is the order in Event Log. I was really hoping for either a Steam error or a Rocksmith app error. Leads me to think it's possibly a sound issue. This is going to sound dumb, but are you using the same USB port each time? If so try a different port see if same error pops up. USB ports are good for around 2000 connect/disconnect. Also you are running nVidia drivers, make sure there isn't something extra in the driver package say a firewall for a NIC. Typical Code 51 from Steam lists monitoring software including firewalls and anti-virus as causing the code. Following thread for responses. Good luck.
  2. Having played on off for over 20 years, yes and no. It will teach you songs and some technique which is applicable in other areas, but not completely. Nephew can play many songs, I can play a few, he can't create a piece of music, I can as well as improvise during a song that's slack in a guitar part. The quick answer is, if it get's you playing and you are enjoying it keep doing it because it surely won't hurt or hinder your learning. Over the years, I've tried many methods, and learn quick techniques and most are snake oil, Rocksmith is not snake oil. It is a genuine learning aid. I've actually added it to my practice regimine to further my playing and I could see results in my playing in the first week of using it.
  3. ^ This A friends son turned me onto RS 2014, he's 17 and can nail 80 - 90% anything he plays first time of note he can't play a lick without looking, I can play it but I actually have to take time to learn the track, no longer have the reflexes for on sight playing.
  4. I had this issue as well, I tracked it to Windows 10 pushing updates randomly, and doing behind the scenes scanning.
  5. The good news if you have a cable you should only need to repurchase the software. Depending on your specs you may be surprised to find it can run on some low end systems. I was originially running it on an HP laptop that originially shipped with Windows Vista that I had upgraded to Windows 7 in order to get Windows 10 to run on it, which it did. I was able to run Rocksmith 2014 on this laptop even though it had less than a 2 gig processor and only 4 gigs of ram. The only issue I had was the video in lessons and the lessons in general were unusable, the rest of the game ran well enough to be usable. Sorry I can't remember exact specs but they were pretty low. If unsure, post PC specs prior to purchasing the software.
  6. The bad, I'm not sure if there's a way to restore or rebuild a profile. The good, it won't take you two years to get everything back to 80%.
  7. Can you post error from Event Log? First thing I'd try is Run As Admin. Check this list against your installed software, https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289 As you've tried the ClientRegistry.blob already this and the nVidia glitch would be the last 2 things to check. http://steamcommunity.com/app/205190/discussions/0/846940249221043346/ Last post in that thread suggest something to do with nVidia console. More on Error Code 51, https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2235-YXVB-8261
