Since there's no rhythm mc this week.

yeah, I meant the Rx bandits song with the Sting comment. Kinda hard to mistake Cornell for anyone, except maybe Ritchie Kotzen.

Last week I made an oopsie and tried to re-learn the mc song using The Dave Mustaine Spider Chord(tm) technique. It was a mistake, took loads of practice time away, and I still can't get back to playing the song at full speed. Now even trying to play it normally makes my fingers confused. So I don't recommend it. Anyway, here's some sight reads: Lead: Played it a second time because I forgot to screenshot on the first try. Had to check wikipedia to make sure it's not sting on vocals. Looks very 100%-able, but then again so was last week and I didn't find the time. Just for fun. Rhythm: Bass:

It's hard to keep up the speed in the fast parts, but luckily rs does not care if you stray from the tempo a bit. Certainly seems easier than playing slap, at least to me.

This is gonna take a lot of work...

Oh, I can't slap. Two fingers only, with anchoring on the pickup and resting on the lower string. The simpler the technique the easier it is to avoid learning it wrong I find. Then it's just a matter of building up speed.

Bass sight reads: I'm getting pretty comfortable with bass playing. Strictly fingers btw, no pick.

Finally, I can leave that Death solo behind me. I'd rather listen to baby shark on a loop for a week than play it again. Anyway, this week looks a lot more fun. Here are my guitar sight reads: Lead: I have played this before, years ago. It's really fun. I have also played this before, but it wasn't this CLDC. I even remember trying to play this long before rocksmith was released. I'll be aiming for 100% on both guitar parts. Rhythm: GOG: Not my best playing, but my fingers still tired from last week and I'm celebrating not having to play that Death solo ever again with beer, so it's expected. I really like this one, the solos have melody and make sense, to me at least. I think it's gonna be fun leveling this up. All things considered, the championship makes me play a lot more than I would have otherwise. I haven't worked on my playing this hard in years, the competition is really motivating. So, to everyone involved in this, I'd like to say thank you.

I've been grinding this the whole week, still, can't break 98%. I'll give it a couple more tries later today, but I doubt I can improve it much.

Sight reads: lead: Is this the song where she was accused of copying someone? I played the pitch-shifted version, didn't like the tone. I'd definitely have to spend some time in rr to get that strange riff. Also, had to play it twice because I forgot to screenshot. The riffs seem straight-forward and the tapping part is kinda slow, but the solo was totally incomprehensible to me. Rhythm: Had to pause during that one, that's probably why the score is lower than accuracy, but idk. Bass: other stuff: @ Anitomer What are you studying? Is partying really more important? Also, I feel old. @ Jakobgreve Dunno how you managed that Death solo, but don't feel too complacent, I will try to win. Also, where you born in 98? You're clearly better than me, I had to sweat a lot for that score. My hands are tired now, so I guess you win in lead. Kudos.

Well, this does complicate things... Still, there's a couple hours left, so I still have a chance I guess.

progress for today: I think can get into 97-98 area tomorrow, once I sober up.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you, but my advice would be: 1. Try playing them with fingers instead of a pick. 2. If you decide that you have to use the pick (like me), play riff repeater turbo-slow, and watch your right hand. Try to make as small and efficient movements as possible. Optimize and repeat - there's only 6 strings so it's possible to muscle-memory every move, I think (I'm still working on this myself, so dunno). 3. Memorize the left hand movements before you practice picking. It's usually just static positions on the fretboard, so think of every change as distinct phrase, where the right hand does all the phrasing. If it helps, you can try practicing the right hand without fretting, just open strings. Whatever gives you the fastest progress is the way to go. 4. Don't avoid them like I did for 10+ years, so you won't regret it like me. Practicing arpeggios really forces you to get you to focus on the right hand, which is vital and easy to ignore until you reach a certain level. And if you do ignore it, you'll have to rebuild your technique from scratch almost. 5. DISCLAIMER: I'm self-taught, with no knowledge of proper teaching methods or technique. All of my ideas on this are merely a reflection of the mistakes I've made. I can almost guarantee that there is a simpler approach/solution to this, that I'm not aware of. Maybe someone else can chime in?
