Can't play NIN I think and I'm avoiding the mmmmBop so I added some lead and vocals to last week's mix lol this feels like showing off macaroni art y'all but I gave it my best and learned a couple things

Aww i thought i was selecting an easier song for the cover. Was looking forward for your rendition and vodkas. And I will still be on the lookout when you guys do it cause i know you can and will 🙂 !

I can actually hear your voice!! grats on making that work! and you added some guitar lead to cover it hehe. very neat to see your 2 different renditions. youve got some nice call and respond sections with the guitar and vocals.  i personally would just give the vocals a little bit more space to breathe in some of the sections  to make it shine more. Kinda like if the lead guitar were ad libs vocals. Buts its easier said than done as its easy to overdo guitar leads and the important thing is you had the guts to do it /m/ so respect.

always crazzy how small changes can change a song, its the reason why i never finish songs cause theres so many options which is a blessing and a curse.

Also is that your guitar in the pic? looks sick!

Ahh yes fair point, I know I got a little happy fingers but now I understand why Muse’s version sounds like a hot mess, cause it’s easy to do too much …plus lowkey I’m still fighting the instinct to cover up the vocals 😂 it’s like when a beaver hears running water and just starts building dams

My biggest issue with the NIN is no good tutorial on YT 🥲 I’ll see if I can figure something out tho I’m not giving up

Well I haven't tried it myself yet so idk maybe its harder than it sounds :V you could always do trial and error if you dont like the tabs...trust your ears
or maybe rodman could point you in the right direction if he found something useful?

Alternatively you could just do something completly different like the pop goes punk covers. ig here maybe punk goes pop/ any style (now imagining reggeaton lmao.) 
just pick random chords and sing, theres no rules in music just happy accidents... and perhaps angry neighbors

girls tend to have a higher register so shifting the song up might be an option/ make stuff easier for you? if you are doing vocals on any cover

I think we are our own worst critics... When I listened to my cover all I could listen was the bad timing, the sound not very clean, the buzz of the strings.

And that's why I shared it 🤣

If I look back to what I improved playing Rocksmith, I know I can only get better. I know little to nothing on pedals, effects, recording but looking forward to improve

I would love to have the skill to shift a song but I don’t think I’m there yet! Looks like it took her a year to figure it out so maybe by 2026 lol

Actually scrolled through to her original cover without the shift aaand I’m thinking it’ll take me a little longer than that 😅 Cool channel tho I have the same tattoo as her, no color & peonies instead tho

Don’t joke, as soon as I figure out MIDI I’m slapping reggaeton beats on everything and singing in the style of my queen Bellakath 😂

Well I think you're absolutely right. Take a look at @ drand  second version! This one is absolutely incredible isn't it? Vocal, lead guitar. And everything's played so cool.

And what I'm hearing I'm playing guitar? MUD. Wry broken transitions. Wrong gotten chords. Noises. I know we're everyone learning and trying to get better players. 

And to be honest I didn't make the cover in my head. Can't "combine" my thoughts together. Can't find a time. I'm making excuses I know. And I really want to create a cover. It's harder than I thought. Someday I will make it.

@ Vodka  I know you didn’t just take 1st with a 100% on both lead and rhythm last week and still think you are too bad to record 😂

A song based on a cool riff, I think 3 is ok.

A song like: I think I've heard it before, it sounds familiar but I don't remember. And this is a fun old pop song to play! I agree about 4.5 diff.

A classic that we already played in the championship but in a different version of CDLC. As for this version, I tested it a long time ago and rated it 7.5, but I don't know why. I tested version 1.0, maybe something has changed since then🤔 Now that I played again, I'm more inclined to @ cacahuate51  rating 6.5 is ok, max 7.

Yes my suggestion, but I played this like 3 months ago and I don't remember the chart. But I'm sure this is good 😆

 

@ Vodka  Damn grats on the score!! Song is pretty tricky so respect. 

As others mentioned, no one will be as harsh as yourself. I think its pretty normal to have this feeling and it is usually refered as "impostor syndrome". Infact I think the new robbie williams movie kinda does a good job of diving into those aspects. Unfortunatley not many people watched it, but it is kind of a hard movie to sell with it might not being the music people like, the darker aspects, or/and the fact that the main character is a cgi monkey 😅  

Anyways,you probably aren't that way to your friends (well...maybe to the closest ones to mess around) so you shouldn't be to yourself. Never down yourself comparing to others cause you don't know how much practice or help theyve had through out time "learning the craft". They should only be used as motivation or inspiration.

There is no shortcut to music and there's no right or wrong (what you love others may detest and vice a versa) as its an "art" so its purely subjective. So there is no reason to not try today and have fun making abominations!! Unless you don't want to (which is valid). Perhaps what you consider a flaw is what makes your cover stand out more and what makes other people like it more. Just do your best (listen, practice, record, edit , etc)  for this week, upload it, and learn what you could do better and try to incorporate it in the next cover and repeat. There is always something to learn 🙂 

I think the covers is a great idea if we keep doing it till the end of the year (I say "we" yet I havent done one yet hehe). then you can go back at the end of the year and hopefully see some progress. If not, well atleast you gave your best on each cover, and will have an album for deaf people 😂 Atleast thats the way i see it. So I will submit mine sometime this week and hope to see everyones aswell !

I agree with @ drand  that a week might be too little to do a cover especially if its a song that isnt being played in the championship week. 2 weeks imo would also be ideal just cause sometimes weeks can get pretty cluttered with work or other events. But we'll see. 

 

 

 

 

You're absolutely right @ cacahuate51  @ drand  . That's a magic. Magic of music, magic of guitar, magic of RS & CS. We're "working" together here. Trying to be as good as others and even better. And if someone is better than you, you try to rise as high as the first one. So than someone is gets high his/her pull the others of us. 

Well in the end of "not-doing-the-cover-time" I must sat "Thank you" everyone for advices and continuous support. For the fun time we spend together. 🤘

That is so outstanding!!!! The crazy thing is is did a very long response yd home sitting in the bus back from playing tennis - blame it on the freakin cellphonefirefox, blame it on the 2 large beers in my head not really having eaten all day.... but that one and all the responses to the cool stuff later on that page... gone hahahaha.
Here i go again just shorter - what´s absolutely your gift is creating ambience. You immediately put me in another place when your music starts - very special. Great vocals there, cool and heavy lead/solo - sure you could have stepped back a bit and let the vocals out of the cage - but the way you did it is dramatic. Love it. Thank you!!!!!!!!

Soooo +1, absolutely.

I hate to hear me sing and it absolutely feels i just cannot play guitar.
That´s why i was forced and forced to bring the cover challenge back.

You know what - i had a weak moment, and as i was pretty ok with that weeks cover - mainly cause it came out that way with only a few hours of time - i.... gave my kids a listen.
At the mid-end ... they said - "is that you!?", "Pretty bad, eh?" i replied. Both shook head and had the urge to add "No!" Strange things happen. Love em guys. Made my day.

For me still - far from the point i think i shall give any of this a listen to anyone (except you lovely ppl of course working on the same ship)... worst critics we shall be.
