Replacing song audio in CDLC?

I just completed a CDLC only to realize that the recent remaster sounds much better and would improve the CDLC. I generally prefer the original mixes to new "remasters" but in this case it would work better.

Unfortunately the remaster timing doesn't match up perfectly so I cannot just simply drop the new audio in, even after trying to line up the audio in DAW it still goes out of sync, so it will have to be re-beatmapped all over again.

I'm just wondering what the best way to do this is: Can I can delete all beat anchors in the original EOF file, or have to start from scratch and then import the xml files - I have added some handshapes and FHPs, etc, would like to preserve this without having to redo if possible.

I replace the guitar.ogg in the project and delete every other audio file in the folder (so the leading silence operation works properly) and adjust the start offset/leading silence. From there you can reset the bpm and start syncing again.

FHP and handshapes adjust as you change the beatmap so there should be no issues there. Assuming there's no major changes to the tab that need to be made you'll just have to redo the tone changes since they aren't affected by the beatmap and will be out of time.
