Help! Installing d3dx9_42.dll causes bad audio.

fuzzhead

Question

This happened on my old laptop with a pirated copy of rs 2014. Now with my shiny new laptop I went ahead and purchased a legit copy of the game and the cherub rock dlc.

When I went to install the .dll so I could use custom dlc. It caused the game audio (right from launch) to be terrible and crackly. It was tested and working fine before the file was installed. I haven't seen anyone else post about this issue, but was hoping I could get some help.

Since it's a new laptop, it might be best to start by troubleshooting your audio devices and drivers. Make sure those are working properly and have the most up to date drivers. Do others games and/or audio work correctly? Also, what are the performance specs of your laptop? I'd assume it's capable of running RS smoothly, but you never know. Obviously, make sure that any unnecessary programs aren't running in the back round, and that your CPU usage and available memory are where they should be before starting RS.Since you said that it occurs as soon as Rocksmith is launched, I'd guess that it's one the two things above. Depending on the specs, maybe you'll need to tweak some of the RS settings in order for things to work properly.

Good luck man!
