  1. ARTIST...................: Devin Townsend ALBUM....................: Terria TITLE....................: Deep Peace VERSION..................: 0.2 0.5 1.0 INSTRUMENT(S)............: Lead, Rhythm, Vocals TUNING...................: Open C (CGCGCE) CUSTOM TONE..............: Yes DYNAMIC DIFFICULTY.......: DDC v2.1 PACKAGE ID...............: Cherub Rock PLATFORMS................: PC Release: http://customsforge.com/page/customsforge_rs_2014_cdlc.html/_/pc-enabled-rs-2014-cdlc/deep-peace-r4403 Video of song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilVH50CaasU Changelog: 0.5: - Improved the syncing in various parts of the song - Other minor improvements Hi everyone, I could use some help for my next DLC... basically I want your opinion on a special problem with this great song. Deep Peace is kind of one long solo, and there are about seven changes of the BPM in the song, as well as changes from 4/4 to 7/8 and 6/8. All of those changes are tabbed out very accurately* and I was able to apply them in EOF. The problem is that sometimes Devin does not really stick to the rythm or how the notes may be "supposed to be played" according to the tabs with "perfect rythm". When his instrument is the only one, you don't really notice that he sometimes plays a tiny bit too late or too early. I see the following options here: Add BPM-changes to every single beat that is effected. I tried that but it became quite a mess (e.g. in a 4/4 shorten the first three beats that contain notes and making the 4th much longer, so that the next measure still begins at the same time) Move around the notes. From everything I read so far, this should probably not be preferred. Also I think DDC does a better job when all the notes stick to the beat grid Simply do nothing. I have to slow it down to 25% to be able to move notes to the correct position, so my thought is that most of this stuff isn't going to be noticed by a regular guitar player. It might even feel better to play exactly with the rythm!?While I tested 1 and 2, I cannot judge option 3 simply because I lack the skills to play it  So this is where I count on your help: Which option is the best? If you can play the song but feel like something is slightly off, you are probably right, so I would like to know about it. Also this is the first time I tried editing tones for a song, so please give me feedback on those. Thanks, Azrael Credit: *Tabs by Jesse Cohan http://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/devin-townsend-deep-peace-tab-s69985t1
  2. Hi, did you already find this website? http://ddcreator.wordpress.com/ All the important stuff is explained there ;-)
  3. Oh man, I'm sorry you went through all that trouble... If I had changed the file I would have created a version 0.5 and mentioned it in the changelog! I simply didn't update the file in the Dropbox, because I wanted your opinion on the volume first (in order not to make you test so many different versions...) Now I uploaded the following changes, and I feel like this could be my final version: Changelog Version 0.5 Adjust tuning of bass arrangement in EOFAdjust bass volume to -26 Thanks for the second video!
  4. Nice, resetting the tuning in EOF totally did the trick for the bass track! About the volume: I now changed the volume back "up" to -23 again, but I couldn't hear a real difference to -15. Judging the volume is difficult for me, because I use an acoustic guitar that is sometimes louder than the ingame sound... But I compared the bass to some other "authentic tone" basses and it seems quite normal. Since you thought -23 was to silent, -15 must have been super silent for you... can you give some advice here? The Toolkit suggests that even -21 is "HIGHER", so it seems to me that I shouldn't go higher... Another question: Should the bass be fingered, or picked? Thanks again for your help!
  5. Thanks again for your input, Rockfirstlast! Just wanted to leave a quick note here that I will continue my work on this in about a week, when my exams are over. Thus the silence the last couple of days... In the meantime: If anyone with a ps3, xbox or mac stumples across this and is willing to test a version for their platform, please leave a message. I would like to support all four platforms, but I will only do so I if I know everything works fine  I don't yet know what I have to change in WWISE and so on... so I prefer this method to just uploading something and then having someone complain about it not working. Edit: I finally got the time to work on this one again  Changelog: Ajusted the vocal lengths, thanks RockfirstlastChanged the bass tuning to CGCG. I realized I just left it at default in the Toolkit, I guess. @@Rockfirstlast, thanks for the info, but why did you say CGCF? I chose C, so that I did not have to retune my guitar for trying it out in emulated bass mode. Anyway, would you mind testing it again? Maybe Rocksmith has problems picking up my lowest string (red C) in bass mode... I just miss most of the nodes, no matter what I do. The yellow G string works way better...Changed the volume of the bass tone. The default was very silent, changed it from -23 to -15. I hope it's not too loud now!Resolved "COUNT" phrase issue by adding 4 beats before the first beat. Doesn't seem to have any influence ingame... About the hard part in the beginning, do you really mean keeping the index finger on the 7th string? All the notes are on 8th to 12th, so do you mean barre on the 8th with the index finger?
  6. If there ever will be an official list of things required for the "perfect" CDLC, I would like to add "section names"! When you name the sections of a song "intro", "chrous", "verse", "brigde", "solo" and so on, Rocksmith regognizes those names ingame. So when you mess up the solo, the recommendation for that song will most likely be "go practise that solo", or "seems like you're having trouble with that chorus" and so forth! While this is not very important, it adds to the authentency of our CDLC. Also, I think it helps the DDC to do a good job. This is important if DD doesn't make it onto that official list :-)
  7. I just reverted my "YES" into a "NO" because I realized that a "YES" means voting for "a new CDLC area for APPROVED CDLC's only". From reading the posts here, it seems like the majority (of those who post at least) are for an integrated system into the current search engine... still we have almost 90% in favor of the seperate list... If you, just like me, thought your vote is for the general idea of an approval system, please check your selection :-)
  8. +1 on the "bagde" idea / highlighted Lead, Rythm and Bass +1 "Approved" should not be a separate list from the main search database +1 on need for DD. I already downloaded a song where DDC simply did not work. And those users who really hate it that much can always remove DD with DDC, am I right? That is at least much easier for them as for a noob who first needs to find out what the toolkit is. Also: While charting, you have to restart RS a looooooot of times for testing and editing... doing that just one more time at the very end to check if DD works is not that much of an extra... My thoughts: 1. On the entry page for a song, there could be simple checkbox fields for L,R,B: "thumbs up", and "thumbs down". Then you could present results like: 75% of 22 people liked the Lead track, 22% of 5 people liked the Rythm track and so forth. The badge or highlight could then be automatically applied when some criteria are met - minimum number of votes e.g. 10 people - 50%<bronze, 70%<silver, 90%<gold This would keep the process simple, automated and influenced by the whole community (because I cannot imagine how a limited group of selected people want to test 3 tracks on currently more than 1600 songs) 2. Another thought, because it seems like nobody has addressed it in this thread: Should "approved" require support of all four platforms? In terms of "having the same features as any official DLC"?

  11. Snake, thanks for taking your time and explaining this! As I recognized, you already marked Glen's DLC accordingly, so in fact those are the only ones that have to be recreated. The rest will migrate to this database eventually, so we just need to be patient and wait for the problems to be sorted out - good to know!
  12. Hi everyone, I just wanted to give you a general feedback on this discography project from the point of view of someone who has entered the whole world of Rocksmith and CDLC less than two weeks ago. To me, the songlist in the first post seems quite "misleading" in the sense that it lists a lot of CDLC that seem to be have created somewhere by someone, but are not publicly available. For example "Nothing else matters" is listed as "(2012) (2014, Lead only)", but I cannot find it in the database, nor in a WIP thread. I hardly know anything about the reasons why SA stopped and I have no idea what the difference between SA and http://www.rscustom.net/dlc is, but somehow I stumbled upon the latter and the search reveals that "Nothing else matters" had been posted there - yet there is no download link. All in all, less than half of the listed songs can actually be found through the customsforge search engine (quick count of "2014" tags). I explained that I find the song list misleading and see two consequences: Consumers see that CDLC exists and demand a download link - while at the same time a lot of those CDLC are not available for whatever reason. This puts pressure onto those who may still have them but are not officially allowed to share them, and may result in bad feelings for a lot of persons, including the original charter (who's decision not to share some content we must simply accept) Charters who would be willing to recreate unavailable CDLC might get confused, whether those will become available someday... and this may stop them from creating contentBy reading through this forum the last days, I understood that customsforge now is the one and only place to celebrate the joy of CDLC, to enable charters and consumers to get together and to make consumers happy by letting them download customs, while making charters happy by seeing that people enjoy their work. In this sense, customsforge represents the creativity of the CDLC community, and so does this thread with regard to the efforts on Metallica. Therefore a great band deserves a great and productive discography list! The bottom line of my post is that I suggest a cleanup of the list: Only the content that is actually available or has been confirmed by the charter to be made availbable should be included there. This will prohibit a lot of false expections and hurt feelings - as seen in this thread. It must have been a lot of work, but The Muse Projekt seems to me like a perfect and beautiful example! Regards, Azrael Well... I hope this was appropriate feedback, my apologies if I simply misunderstood something. But I just couldn't get those words out of my head, so I had to write them down, if you know what I mean...
  13. Hi Rockfirstlast, holy sh*t, your playthrough is impressive! Currently, there is no way I can play what I called "pre chorus" and "transition" faster than maybe 50%... And... did you know this song before, or did you just learn it that fast? Anyway, I'm happy that even the parts I cannot play seem to work fine, and also that the ridiculous zero-2half-1half-2half bend in the solo seems to work. Would you allow me to link to your video when I submit this CLDC to the database? On Youtube, the description is "Found this one at customsforge.net". It sould be ~.com I guess, maybe you want to change that ;-) (I just realized your video is "not listed", so it doesn't really matter... on the other hand, I would appreciate it if you made this one public and add "Devin Townsend" somewhere, once I have submitted it :-)) 1) Ok, good to know. 2) Looking forward to your bass try. I used the bass tone from American Idiot for that one, so hopefully it sounds ok as well 4) Thanks for the info, I havn't used anchors yet. I'll try that... 5) I ended up using Ultrastar as well. But I was just wandering about the *length* of the notes he is singing, currently I have no notes at all in the vocal track. But again, this is completely unimportant^^

    Tone Requests

Hi everyone, I am looking for tones for "Life" by Devin Townsend. Please see my WIP thread for all the details: Devin Townsend - Life Thank you, Azrael

Doesn't seem to have any influence ingame... Hi everyone, I bought Rocksmith 2014 about a week ago, because I found out about this great community. I soon found myself importing the tabs for this song into EOF. When it worked quite nice, I realized I had to buy Rocksmith... and I really enjoy it. Only problem is... my fingers hurt so bad, because its been a while since I last played so much! Now I proudly present to you the first song by Devin "Heavy Devy" Townsend on Customsforge  Alright, so this is my first CDLC! I did a lot of testing and revisions, but now I am at a point where I cannot further improve it on my own. Known issues / Question: Currently, the applied custom tone is from here, I found the link somewhere on this board. I quite randomly chose "American Idiot" and it doesn't sound extremly wrong. But since I do not have any knowledge about creating sounds for electric guitars (neither in real life, nor in RS), I do not see myself creating that anytime soon... I do not know bass and did not try the bass track. The instrument is set to five strings though, and I have no idea if that is even possible... (anyway, only the two lowest strings are used)I am wondering whether dynamic difficulty works as expected. What I did was set the sections (intro, chorus, verse, prechorus, chorus, bridge, solo, transition, chorus, modchorus, outro) and create the phrases with the same names. It did not divide the sections into more than one phrases. Now DDC e.g. splits the chorus into three phrases, and the different phrases level up very differently, even though they are nearly the same and I play them with equal precision. I added 3 seconds leading silence in EOF. When I save it, I get a warning that "the first beat marker is not positioned at 0 seconds [...]. Reset offset to zero?" I click "no", because when I click "yes" it changes the bpm to a completely different value and I cannot savely re-import my guitar pro file if I mess something up. This causes another warning "there is no COUNT phrase, but the first beat marker already has a phrase. You should move that phrase" - currently, everything seems to work fine, but I wonder what you think about it Not that this is really important, but... is there an easy way to import the vocal notes from a guitar pro file into EOF? Because right now, all the vocal notes only last for one beat.So please, enjoy the great Dev and give me your feedback! Thank you very much, Azrael Credit: I used the tabs from here and they are pretty accurate, as far as I can tell. I had to edit lots of tiny bits and use some tech notes though, to get all the hammer-ons and bends working in EOF. See below for the original credit in the .gp5-file.
  16. Hi everyone, I've just registered on this board, because I am strongly considering buying Rocksmith 2014 since I found out about this great CDLC Community (listen to that, Ubisoft!). This thread is just about a minor thing, but I guess it might be worth noting... the search at least brought no results. On the sign in page there are two options for signing in through Facebook and Steam. I'm not on Facebook but clicking the link brings me to a Facebook page as expected, whereas clicking the Steam button doesn't seem to do anything, regardless of whether I am signed in at steampowered.com or not. I would have used this feature if it had worked! Regards, and keep up the great work, Azrael
