  1. Rocksmith 1 used the free holiday pack for most CDLC Song IDs. Most people use Cherub Rock's ID for RS2014 since it was free with pre-order, but if you didn't pre-order the game you'll need to buy it in the in-game store (or buy another & convert the song IDs on all your CDLC to that one).
  2. I was actually thinking of having "lyrics" with the names of each exercise (e.g. "Angular Exercise II"), held for the duration of each section. Shouldn't be that hard to do. I should have some time to work on it this weekend. On a related note, I've got a 'Glare Guitar School' magazine w/ a bunch of exercises from Teru & Hizaki of Versailles/Jupiter (among other v-kei artists), & 1 "song" by another guy that's basically a huge etude of multiple techniques, which might be fun to put in. The Versailles exercises are extremely short, though (10-37s), so I'd probably put them all in 1 "song" by sections, like the Steve Vai thing. You can see some of those here.
  3. I've taken the exercises from Steve Vai's 30 Hour Workout & expanded out all the "etc"s up to fret 13 so there's more than the printed 1-2 repetitions of each pattern, & made each exercise its own section for Riff Repeater. I then recorded the output from GuitarPro w/ the metronome on & imported it to play around with. My main issue now is trying to figure out what an appropriate base tempo is for the audio track- I tried to imagine what a "skilled" player would play it at (pretty damn fast) & figure everyone else will be using riff repeater at 50% (or lower) to start off with- or should I be setting it lower overall? I don't really want to feel like a complete n00b by having to set the speed ridiculously low (not to mention it takes a while to set it down that far), but then again, you can always slow it down, but you can't make it go faster...
  4. I had an acoustic in college, but never got much further than simple chords & a few easy riffs. Then a few years ago I discovered a whole community of people who met up in practice studios & played covers, so I went out & got an electric & started joining those. I pretty much played only the rhythm parts, since I didn't have the skill (or confidence, heh) to play any solos. When RockSmith came out, I generally stuck to the default 'combo' arrangement (the 1-note & chord arrangements usually weren't very interesting), unless the solo was particularly fast/shreddy (Hangar 18 XD), where I'd switch to 'Combo 2' or whatever didn't have the solos in. For 2014, I usually leave in on Rhythm, unless a song doesn't have it, or the solo is slow/easy enough. Last month I picked up a bass & started doing that, too, so now it's pretty much all parts, unless they're just plain too difficult.
  5. Now that I've gotten a few CDLCs up, I figure it's about time to make one of these fancy WIP/project posts I can throw in my sig. :D Current Works In Progress: ?Planned: ANY song by LUNA SEA or BUCK-TICK (yes, even the 23m epic THE ONE, but that may take a while to tab out track XD). Any requests for pretty much anything by these 2 bands are welcome at any time, as long as they don't require specialized equipment to play (i.e. Imai Stabilizer or POT models, ZTAR/guitar synth, etc). Songs w/ guitar sustainer on Sugizo/Imai parts may be possible if I can figure out how to emulate the tones w/ what's available in RS, but I'm not that great w/ tone design yet.Pretty much anything by The Cure, The Smashing Pumpkins, or Voivod. Requests for these may be entertained, but accurate tabs for them are a bit harder to come by, & anything super fast or complicated may be beyond my abilities to figure out myself.some tracks from Shadow of the Beast (original 1989 Amiga game).Johnny Cash- Ring of Fire or I Walk the Lineother stuff I'm interested in- I've got a "TODO" wish playlist of ~140 nearly 400 songs in iTunes (mostly of the above & related bands, and 80s Billboard singles), although I doubt I'll ever get through them all (although some of the original 200 or so have already been done by other CDLC makers)Completed CDLCs: BUCK-TICK - MISS TAKEBUCK-TICK - Zangai (残骸)The Cure - 10.15 Saturday NightThe Cure - Another Journey By TrainDavid Whittaker - Inside the Tree (Shadow of the Beast game BGM)D.R.I. - I'd Rather Be SleepingDuran Duran - New Moon on MondayeZUKA from GRANRODEO - Glare Guitar School guitar inst. 6. Maveth managed to re-generate the file & got it to work in the Chat- dumb question, but did you restart it between tries? >_>
  7. Margh. I've regenerated w/ a newer toolkit, please try again.
  8. Posted this last week in the Workshop on SA but got no replies, & not even a single download (!), so hopefully that'll change here. For those interested in JRock (particularly LUNA SEA & BUCK-TICK), I'm hoping to do a lot of these, so feedback in the early stages while I'm still naïve & impressionable will go a long way (and hopefully make for better CDLCs, most notably w/ the tones), hint hint. :D OK, I started working on this literally over a year ago, but couldn't get very far w/ a Mac & a non-modded PS3 so there was a bit of a break. XD Finally got around to working on it again a bit ago, & while I'm still not happy enough with it to post it in the "submitted" forum, we'll see if anyone notices it in here! This is my first attempt at CDLC so I'd really appreciate constructive feedback. My main issues are: [*]I'm not entirely happy w/ all the tones yet (not very good at creating them in general- even w/ web sites listing the gear the band uses, the settings, etc. aren't generally listed, and it's sometimes hard to match things up w/ what's available in RS) [*]the sections seem a bit wonky- I've fixed this to some extent- somehow the song wasn't lined up w/ "beat 1" when I started- but it seems like the horizontal blue bars that should mark the measures still don't look like they're lining up w/ the first beat- it's a bit difficult to tell on this song since most long notes start 1/8 note before the next measure... [*]scroll speed? I honestly can't tell if it's lining up correctly or if it's just my computer being slow. I supposed it'd help if I took a video & watched it (since it's hard to notice exactly while trying to play along with it) but I have to figure out what I can use to do so on a Mac... [*]anything else?
