As figure this list could be invaluable resource for intimidates and beginners After having looked at things like Marty Music videos, etc. as you do when you first start to try pickup a guitar & then discover what you've been shown is little more than humming along badly to song (e.g. if a tutorial is shorter than the song its self, it very very likely wrong). The same can be said of various tab books (e.g. the recent 'New Model Army' official version I came across) which are just straight up dumbed down and wrong. I figured being able to point people in the right direction and with correct advice as to how to qualify the accuracy has to be a good thing.

is just me or is the sound knackered now...? e.g. the tones are extra tinny

Is there anyway to view what each tone consists of effects and setting wise? the option to see which tones are used in a song an which effects and settings they are constructed from would be invaluable practising outside of rocksmith.

I'm gonna throw this in here One of the best aspects of RS is forces the beginner to explore the entire fret board And learn to use barred chords Which alot of beginners and intermediate players never get around to Also playing full song arrangements rather than dumbed down beginner versions Gives the RS player a fuller understanding of why scales are useful

really wide, thin'ish neck though at the lower end (in EU at least, I think states has multiple choices on the neck)) other than that they are a steal and definetly a shredders guitar

Good stuff, quit away, the less players there are the better I sound in comparison to the remaining few. Don't forget to make sure sell your stuff to someone else who is likely to quit quickly.

Yep Put riff repeater on Record via nvidia shadow play or similar and the just transfer the videos to your phone,then cast them to your TV Just make sure you put them into tuning folders on storage device's

I'm gonna save you a lot of cash and heartache take your amp and a pedal, to the guitar shop and try as many guitars out as possible, if you find a good one but with the view that it just needs...this that and other doing, walk away try another guitar shop, try another guitar. Firstly no 2 guitars are the same, even if the are same model same year so don't be scared to try lots and lots of guitars even if they are the same models when you find 'the one' even if it's not what your expecting it to be, buy it (or live in regret). Honestly if you get 'the right guitar' then that constant nagging feeling just goes away I've ended up with 5 guitars and gone through 7 amps before I finally broke the cycle and didn't care if i was annoying shop staff or any associated embarrassment. I've ended up with a Mex strat+ and a blackstar ID TVP 30 (both which items I'd been prepared to pay up £1k+ for the right items) which are my goto combo (plus a few pedals), but in getting these 2 i tried out alot of kit over and over again which involved visiting various shops over a 6 month period, until i found each of them. Also when you find a guitar or amp, make sure you get the ones you played not the ones from stock room. Since finding my combo my all consuming gear compulsion has just gone away, don't end up like Scot Grove etc. with a warehouse full of nearly guitars and a constant itch at the back of your mind that the next one will be the one. All the reviews and suggestions and youtube clips are not even in the same league as taking your gear to the shop and just trying everything out and not being worried about walking away without making a purchase

@@Puddle Of Mudd Agreed I haven't been doing right (so after i broke the 1.5k hr mark on RS I reevaluated what i was trying to achieve and how i was going about doing so, I'm now taking lessons and spending alot more time away from RS), as i originally mentioned this above was the advise I would have given to myself when i first started. The fact is when you was start at anything, you no don't know what you don't know. Everyone's progression is and goals are different, but the above is the foundation i'd advise to start from. in regards to where the "intermediate level" starts I suspect we are both placing the bar in different proficiency levels, which is fine (mentally i'm deliberately making the effort to avoid the 'blue belt blues' & the 'post graduate drop off' syndromes), i'm under no delusions that achieving proficiency is marathon and there are no magic bullets, other than effort and planning.

Jim despite this being an old thread my advice to myself would be as follows; learn the basic chords outside rocksmith (repetition is key(even if you know them backwards keep practising them to improve muscle memory) A,Am,B,C,C7,D,Dm,D7,E,Em,F,G & G7 learn the pentatonic minor & major scale all five positions (repetition is key(even if you know them backwards keep practising them to improve muscle memory) - this will sort your lead & solo stuff out faster than a fast thing and practice barr chords every night at least 15mins get to grips with basics like blues shuffle and rhythm patterns (oasis 'song bird' is a good basic pattern) - see youtube - i cant emphasise enough getting a good selection of rhythm patterns under your belt (which rocksmith sadlly sucks at displaying) record yourself playing for 5mins each month DON'T EXPECT TO BE PLAYING J.HENDRIX PERFECTLY AFTER A FEW MONTHS! (think decades if your lucky). finally do the calculation if takes a 10,000hrs to get to intermediate level then given the number of hours you put in each day with give a decent scale as to when to expect to at the basics of competent with instrument. (I've been learning for the last 2.5yrs and still suck).

If you are after tapping, etc. Try a few guitars with P90's Which seem to pick up the slightest finger movements Alternatively have a look at the Chapman range

Concentrating souly on the screen gets easy pretty fast (bear in mind a lot musicians rely on sheet music) But rather than DD throwing lots of incorrect notes and timing which gets annoying when you accidentally memorise them Resort to riff repeater and turn the speed down to 50% then play through and gradually increase the speed over multiple play throughs
