  1. I played through all of Gish (well, all of the bass parts) Sunday and had a blast! The three bass charts you did were my favorites - Crush, Suffer, and Window Paine
  2. Sorry about the repeat of Too Bad - I love Rival Sons and had this one on my list to test, but checking against the songs from the past slipped through the cracks.
  3. Regarding "Victory", apologies if there are any issues with that one. I had to add it at the last minute as I needed an advanced rhythm song so I didn't have a chance to test it at all. That's part of why I put it as a bonus on bass.
  4. The average winning score for Intermediate Lead typically isn't higher than 95-96 percent and sometimes lower (we had two weeks in a row where it was high 70s-low 80s). I would guess that this is because of the steeper learning curve for lead as opposed to rhythm and bass, and the fact that intermediate lead may have some soloing and/or fiddly bits. But no, you're not the only competitor. Based on your scores so far you may want to consider moving up to advanced at some point.
  5. I didn't realize that was a hard and fast rule. I won't be playing the GoG song so it doesn't matter to me but doing my selections from a musical standpoint I'd much rather have Zappa there. GoG competitors - please let me know ASAP if you were hoping for a second week of "Jato Unit". If I don't hear anything I'll just leave it as is. Also, a note: the Adv/Int/Int song this week, "Too Bad" by Rival Sons, was taken off CF recently for some reason so I've linked to my own copy.
  6. Had to post a bit early for family reasons - if you post a new score within the next few minutes I will update accordingly. Week 397 is up now!

  8. One hour warning before the new week is posted!
  9. Now that "I Get Around" is officially the advanced song on bass:
  10. I just tried Mayonaise on bass for the first time...great job, it feels amazing to play and the tone is good.
  11. First tries on everything: As others have pointed out, this one is more advanced-level...6ish: White Limo is probably the track I most enjoyed playing in this list...I'd probably rate it a 5 in difficulty: Bad Reputation is challenging in the sense of making your bass sound good given all the palm mutes, but in terms of Rocksmith score it's nowhere near MC...I'd give it a 6: And then there is this beast which feels like just one more guitarist showing off with no real musical vision..at least it's not boring but I find it tedious, won't be playing it again:
  12. Yeah, Bad Reputation is definitely not MC level on bass. @shaggy_malagy I can recommend Edie Brickell & New Bohemians - What I Am as a good alternative. I rated it a 7.5 so it's probably upper advanced but it would be more of a challenge than Bad Reputation.
  13. I can't get the screenshot URL for some reason but it's the latest one: https://steamcommunity.com/id/863690/screenshots/ (Galneryus Wherever You Are Bass, 98.76%, 438 streak) In any case, looks like I've fallen a bit short of @diceslinger and @Mikson, but good competition this week guys!
  14. I appreciate all your work on the Pumpkins catalogue, @arrov. Your list is great, I would also be interested in Frail & Bedazzled, Obscured, and Blue from Pisces Iscariot, and Shame from Adore. As for Soma, I'm a bassist so there is no current version for me
  15. I felt the same way about the Galneryus song and had also never heard it before. I'm not too far off your score so I'll see if I can catch you
  16. So putting on my bass player participant hat for a moment, I'm open to whatever. As long as I'm getting a variety of songs each week and a nice challenge that helps me improve, I'm good. There are many, many excellent CDLCs available for bass between the bass-only charters like JamesPrestonUK and SlickWilly (and now, myself) and the fact that bass parts are more straightforward to chart. I could easily fill the selection list sheet with good options. As a fellow organizer, I agree that the need for change is not clearly established. But if the other bass players are in favor, I'm open to Mikson's suggestion.
  17. @Anitomer What level would you like to compete at? Your scores so far suggest you should be at least on intermediate for lead.
  18. @Orkkongen We get it, you're frustrated and think some sort of change to the Championship is in order. I can't really say whether that's right or not, but what you don't seem to realize is that you are asking a lot of a handful of people who are volunteering their (often limited) time to make this run. In this case, you have expressed the opinion that people who are too good for one level but not good enough for the next (ie, you) should have some accommodation that would make the transition easier. But your only constructive suggestion (adding another level between int and adv) was not viable and it seems that you now expect us to just magically come up with something that will make your particular experience more enjoyable. I have to say also that your statement to @Rodmanabout changing the championship to keep a handful of people (spread over 6 years) from leaving is a bit ridiculous. This is not a paid service and the participants are not customers. The more people that can enjoy the championship, the better, but as I'm sure we've all experienced, sometimes people just decide to be unhappy because they want the world to revolve around them. And change doesn't happen in a vacuum - by trying to please one person or group you risk upsetting another.
  19. You're getting better, for sure! The same thing has happened to me with my improvements making it harder for me to rate beginner-level songs.
  20. Hello and welcome! And in case you weren't aware, you can request songs by adding them to the Song Selection List tab on this spreadsheet
  21. First tries for the week...all of these were fun to play. First up is one I requested from the amazing The New Abnormal album: Then one of my favorites from the post-Roger Waters era of Floyd: A classic new wave track, one of my favorites from New Order: This one really blew me away as I don't care for most Japanese rock/metal: And finally, the inimitable John Entwistle at what I think was his best and most jaw-dropping:
  22. Thanks @Mikson for stepping up to do selections this week on short notice! I'm looking forward to these. @Banjoclan An asterisk just means that particular level is not the one you are currently competing in. Here is the quick legend: Black text, no asterisk = your current level of competition (your score will be eligible to win) Black text, asterisk = above your current level of competition (your score will be eligible to win) Gray text, asterisk = below your current level of competition (your score will not be eligible to win)
  23. Alright, a decent improvement though I think I could do better if I had more time. Finally starting to hit those A string slides consistently...
