  1. Some first run scores from the weekend. I've been too preoccupied with finding new songs for the contest to post these I guess. Bass Lead Rhythm
  2. @@Rodman I think my score of 97.46 got put on the intermediate lead list for Smooth Criminal. I believe that was my best for Sinners, I think my best Smooth Criminral score was 90% or something. (Edit: it was worse than I thought, only 80%) It doesn't change beginner lead points, but @@ZeroPingNZ should get the intermediate points, not me. I certainly didn't earn them.
  3. I had this issue with my guitar early on. I watched a couple "how to set up your guitar" videos and tried to set my guitar up properly. That helped a great deal for me. If you play the open string then the 12th fret and it sounds out of tune it needs some intonation adjustment.
  4. Thanks for taking the time and explaining it to noobs like me. I know there is a rules document and such, but I wasn't sure which parts were still in effect. So one more noob question, where there are two songs like this week in Beginner Bass, which one is counted for points? You are just unlucky. And all your songs are all in intermediate and that is where most of the song suggestions are. So chances of getting songs in that class is lower.
  5. Yep, will do! Like I say, I downloaded 200 songs so as I find good ones I will add them. It has made me realize how hard it is to pick beginner level songs! Again, you organizers do a fine job!
  6. I appreciate the work that goes into selecting the songs, but I too would welcome a bit different style of music sometimes. To that end I just downloaded 200 CDLC that I'm taking notes on which ones are playable, difficulty, etc. Hopefully I can add some suggestions based on that. Again, I respect the work that the organizers do in choosing songs, a big thanks to them. I'd like to help if I can.
  7. @@ZeroPingNZ, As someone who strives to chase your scores, I understand the struggle. Keep fighting the good fight!
  8. If 10,000 monkeys strummed on 10,000 guitars they too might get lucky to get a 97%. I think I just had an accidental good run, but I'll take it.
  9. Wow...progress on the lead part for the contest on a Sunday night. Usually I can't top my sight read for half the week, so this is a nice change.
  10. A little bit of lead My daughter tried some bass with me. Then on to rhythm
  11. First runs on Bass. Since you asked I'm providing some feedback on difficulty. I would agree this a 2 This one was a bit harder, 2-3 I've played the guitar part on smooth Criminal before. It is half "I can't believe they want me to play that!" and half "Wow I can't believe I played that!" I feel like it is a 5 difficulty at least.
  12. a small improvement, don't blink or you will miss it.
  13. First tries on lead And since I was in D I did the rhythm path too. I enjoyed it more than the lead.
  14. first runs on rhythm Didn't tune down for Ghost...maybe I"ll do that today.
  15. Teensy bit better on lead... Then I had a good run on rhythm in master mode. I was shocked.
  16. Help! It is a Hazy Shade of Winter here, and Louie Louie "gotta go now!" I'm getting Scarified that the Winds of Change won't ever come and bring us new songs! Yeah, no progress. Just banging my head against these songs while others make them look easy. I actually shouted at the game when I missed the last note of Winds of Change and got the final red X to fail me out. I did try a master mode run on Louie Louie rhythm. I seem to have memorized the notes, even if I can't play them.
  17. More work on Louie Louie, finally moved the needle on both lead an rhythm. Small improvement, but I'll take it. And a small improvment on Help. I have to be honest I havern't really been working the lead path of it tho.
  18. Well, I have to admit, I couldn't beat my scores from my first playhough on Louie Louie all week. I didn't imporve much on Help or Winds of Change either. But I'll be a sport and try them again. Starting out on Bass tho...
  19. The bass part of Help was gnawing at me. I feel like I would be better if I switched to the pick, but I'm trying to learn fingered bass so I stuck with that. At least there is some improvement, I feel like I haven't improved much on any of the lead parts this week. I haven't been able to beat the first sightreading score on lead Louie Louie or Help from Saturday.
  20. Hmmm, the only progress I made last night is for a song way above my class. Oh well, I really enjoy mangling this song. I have added 15 minutes in the Temple of the Bends to my practice routine to finally get better at bends. Long overdue!
  21. I gave Hazy Shade a shot because I heard a version on the radio by The Bangles. I thought, hey, that doesn't sound too hard. Yeah, I was wrong.
