  1. Hey Terry, I've put tabs for Surfin' USA into the folder with all the tabs. Check them out if you need help. Hopefully I can test all the Beach Boys customs this weekend but I'm not sure yet. I'll let you know when I did.
  2. Hey Terry, Here you go: https://app.box.com/s/ccnb08lwmj01b73domlm9izrbdgb97ke I put all the tabs in that folder and I also included some band scores from a songbook that I totally forgot I had. Apart from that, I'm not sure I'll be able to help as much as I promised because work for university has been piling up and I need to work my ass off now to finish it. If I want to work on any customs of my own, especially when doing transcriptions, I can't take on any other transcriptions now or all my free time will be gone for good. I'll gladly check out the songs on bass and try to note and maybe correct any issues but I think that'll have to do. Sorry. :(
  3. I have no objections. The more the merrier. :D
  4. I simplified this part and made it double stops, so it would be easier to slide into the new position. And of course I used tech notes to connect the double stops via slides. The first slide is a regular slide, the second one is unpitched and then the same is repeated for the second part of the phrase.
  5. @ Here are tabs for the lead part: https://app.box.com/s/pn8e2dfz8ej0st5q65oca9mmhkzpc0xb
  6. Recognition in the intro part is a bit spotty and maybe it's better to remove the open string. I don't think it's absolutely necessary anyway. I did manage to get it recognized though if I strum on lightly. I don't have any recognition errors on the other parts though (as far as I know) but I'll check it out if others have issues with it as well.
  7. Well, here we go: http://i.imgur.com/UcYhTF5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0qNCY9X.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vGOSPFs.jpg I can definitely improve on that a bit but for now it's fine I think. I tried Belzeboss as well on bass but it could really do with some clean up and improved fretboard logic. I might give it a shot and try that myself just to see what can be done. Notewise it seems fine and is a lot of fun to play. :D
  8. I didn't think the bass part of Camarillo Brillo would be masterclass material (and I still don't) but I guess one has to always see it in comparison to the other tracks. Also, yeah. One of my customs is in the CS, so no matter how busy I am, I gotta produce some scores this week. :D Also gonna play some lead and rhythm on Camarillo Brillo, because I can get some decent scores on those. Won't be hard to get 100% though for the pros.
  9. @@avdocatwork I can certainly look at those two and if I find the time, make a transcription but it won't be a priority. I'll focus on Beach Boys and my own projects first.
  10. @@manchot66 I don't use EoF for that and I don't think it's possible but you can use Audacity. I personally use "Capo 3" on Mac for making my transcriptions and it comes with a lot of handy options, like gradual slowdown without pitch shifting or changing pitch in half-tone steps, some simple EQ options, metronome and so on. @@avdocatwork I actually just wanted to help you out with the bass, so you would have a complete and correct file to work with. Since you'll be doing the real work, it's obviously you who should release the custom. All I'm gonna do, is check the bass part and correct anything if necessary. I'll send you the gp5 when I'm done. I hope that's ok with you. :)
  11. In all the time I've been doing bass transcriptions, I came to the realization that without the pitch change it's almost impossible to transcribe bass parts accurately. Every time I go over available bass tabs that seem spot on without eq'ing and pitch change and then compare that to the track after it has been eq'ed and pitch changed, I immediately start hearing the differences, especially those concerning the rhythm. The drums so often cover up parts of the bass line that you really need to bring it into a higher octave to start hearing clearly what's going. It's a simple trick but for me it's the most essential. Doesn't really work with guitar parts because the sound usually becomes to thin but that trick can be used for low pitched instruments in general.
  12. What I do in those cases is eq the bass and then change the pitch, so the song is an octave higher. That usually helps figuring out if the bass drum hit covers up a note of the electric bass. I just did that for "Love Me Do" and the first bass drum hit sounds very dry to me, so I would argue with 90% certainty that McCartney's playing it straight on this one.
  13. I'll send you tabs for both and if you need bass transcriptions, just let me know. "Wouldn't It Be Nice" should definitely come to RS and was on my list as well.
  14. I got a new Beach Boys songbook, so if anyone is interested in tabs, then I can arrange that. I would also transcribe the bass (because it's so simple most of the time) and send you the GP file, after I'm done. Available songs are listed here: http://i.imgur.com/Jd2Su8Y.jpg I'll also add guitar to my "Sloop John B" custom, now that I got tabs.
  15. If anyone of you has the time and the skill, check out my test build for Frank Zappa - Uncle Remus (B,L,V). I recommend using the bridge pickup position like is usual with Zappa. Let me know if you got your ass kicked by that outro solo; I certainly got mine handed to me. Also, the bass is really fun.
  16. I think this has been discussed before and the simplest solution would be to have your customs somewhere else on your hard drive and to only put files in the DLC folder that you want to play in any particular session. The downside is of course that you'll have to select the songs you want to play beforehand and you have to sort them on your hard drive (which is advisable anyway).
  17. Just fyi, my "Likes" are not as low as written here. I guess nobody really cares about that anyway but I was kind of confused to see such a low number.
  18. If you say so then how am I to disagree? :D
  19. @@albatross213 I don't really care about my class, tbh. I would say I'm intermediate to advanced but I don't mind playing easier stuff if it's more fun for me. Masterclass is not for me, that's for sure but other than that, I'm good to go. :D
  20. I didn't think that 100% would actually stick because the song was so simple but then again, I'm not a beginner anymore, so probably not totally fair. Well, I play only for fun anyways, so let's see what I can manage this week. :D
  21. I agree, Steve. I tried to mimic the Hognose portable amp Zappa was using for these recordings, so I tried to get as close to a 5 watt amp and 5" speaker as I could. It's sounds quite close, tbh, but I know that it's not quite there yet. I try to brighten up the sound a bit and give the lead a bit more edge. Maybe I even try a different amp/speaker setup to get what I want.
  22. Thanks, Steve. I'm not quite happy yet with the tones and I found a small mistake in the chorus but I'll correct that tonight and release it then.
  23. Yeah. Roger Dean is an awesome artist. His style is so iconic, I have a lot of his paintings as wallpapers in constant rotation.
  24. You're welcome, Jerry. Transcribing the bass was fucking hard, at least at the end because it was so difficult to hear, even after eq'ing it. Thankfully I managed to do it and it came out great. Working out how to play it in the most comfortable way was another matter however but I think I found a good solution. My first test run was already 99%, so... :D
  25. Hey guys, I've put together a test version of Zappa's Camarillo Brillo (L,R,B,V). The tones were as tricky to make as I thought but I think I got them close. The filter tone is not that different from the lead tone, tbh, but it kicks in whenever piano or saxophone phrases are to be played and sounds a bit smoother with different settings and a tremolo pedal in front of the amp. Also, I advise using the bridge pickup position for the lead part. It's quite obvious that Zappa used it as well. Let me know what you think.
