Rules? No rules! We pick a song and everybody is invited to share his version. Songs shall be called every week, if you don´t manage to nail your version within the week - entrances are ALWAYS welcome. No winners, no losers, just fun and personal progress, a bit bringing in the harvest of the hard work we all do here every week by converting to own produced music, and (for me very important) learning (easy versions) of songs to be able to play them anytime when a guitar is in the room - and that shall be a part of thinking on the next song selection maybe.

So - as we had Any Red Hot Chilli Pepers Song last week  JUST GREAT, yay!!!! Everyone who has not finished his cover - just post whenever ready in the running week (yes, this one) so we all will recognise it.

Okay, so I am about 3 songs behind on covers, but finally found the time to get ...and I love her done.  No vocals yet, need to purchase a mic and grow a pair.  Maybe in the near future, money is going into mods for the PRS S2 currently.

Drums midi through a sound engine, rest is me. Tries to fetch the spirit doing a lot of squealies, started out with divebombs and tried to go really terminator mechanistic on the solo.... all parts played without practice, sorry, just started at 0:00 and played one after the other repeating until i was ok with it. I really wanna come back to that and do with like 10 hours time.
So - one guitar line (incl. outrosolo impro), one bass line, sang along once, did the solo and did opening vocal. minimal mixing (volume and minimal panning).

Btw I just saw a clip of ari@home, didnt know his name but had seen several of his videos on my feed in the past (always such good vibes and even shared with my friends) this time i noticed he had the rolli. So I was gonna link a video but then I checked his name and I was like ooooh thats who drand mentioned last week xD. Great videos. 

There's a part towards the end which is where i goof up that reminds me of come and get your love by redbone. I think i can get higher but thats all i'll do for today

Yeah, that song is just murder! All parts simple but they form an iron envelope that just kills. It´s so tight. Bassline and drums just carry you all the way. I started recording with guitar and recorded that over midi drums and midi bass as metronometrack - i got dragged all the way basically, they absolutely tell you what to do - for example after spending 45 mins recording i came to the "outro part" which is basically a 2nd solo - i listened to the record and wanted to make my version way more dramatic and desperate than the original as i cannot go with happy endings 🙂 - i just had a go without thinking about the key or a scale, and it was a first passer - i think it must feel that way playing in a and with a great drummer and bassist that really make you sound great. Then i removed the midi bass, recorded bass and in the outro again i also played whatcame to mind mostly - and it works, so i personally give it to the drums mostly there - just a fantastic song. Fun times!!!! I learn sooo much how songs have been created and what NOT to do playing.

One thing that i feel is no good is the noise you can clearly hear it at 0'06

Unsure how it is supposed to be handled? I had this noise when i had not good enough cables between my dj controller and my speakers.

That´s mainly the magic of my Line6 Helix FB-Amp - millions of possibilities and tones i don´t use 😄 - i was lucky to find a A7x preset that make  the Mustaine pickups on my Dean Angel of Death sound soooo heavy - always a fit on the real music stuff. The sound in the solo on 3:28 is pinch harmonic played on a tone also from that A7x preset - there with heavy sustain and feedback - letting it fall into the endless feedback sustain (like when you move a guitar with vibrating strings closer to the amp on distorted sound). It´s a song about a maybe even bad functioning robot-man. That´s why i thought just few and disturbing tones (also a good thought when you are already late when starting to press rec....)

No, not that time, drumming was out-sourced - the midi is "borrowed".

The noise in the beginning - rookie mistake - didn´t realise until now - i had all the channels open already, so that´s likely gonna be from the bass recording or the guitar. That´s why i´d love to be on a DAW and be able to high-pass filter. I shoud. Thx!!!!

In the words of @ drand  - Fire!!! Big time, man!! Great work. The guitars so clearly layered with total different feel still mix up so perfectly, just sugar and cream. The rhythm sound is soo Beatles. That melody part - that´s some guitar playing!!
Yeah, please come up with some vocals next time!! If money is the issue you already got a more than ok mic in your hand right now they say!!!! Cellphonemics do work great, also if you happen to have any version of Singstar (PS2/3) lying around - those mics basically come for free used now, are usb capable and are known to be good good mics for vocals. Just pushing a bit 😉

Great production! Really liked the overall cover but the guitar sound is top notch! 

hey @ cacahuate51  did i miss something? I though i was #1 for beginner bass on week 595 according to the sheet, and now it says lost tropy?

Thanks, it is all Amplitube with a patches I made using either a Fender Deluxe or Vox AC30 on most of that.  I doubled a few tracks and panned them or changed the speaker cabs.   The lead guitar tone was a preset on the neck pickup of my DGT SE.  The biggest difference maker was Ozone 11 which I got as a free part of the software with my Novation midi controller.  I have had the controller for years, but they let you get any of the new software when they add to the packages.  It used AI to apply a master EQ that really made the mix strong.

Yea so I updated the wrong post and was hoping i'd get a response from support before someone would notice my mistake.

I havent yet but it seems like its kind of back to how it was supposed to be?! (aka you are the winner in beg bass)

Argh - boooooys! @ cacahuate51  @ Mikson  - great scores there already - did another few runs yd. A few misregs and the solopart denied me getting closer, but hey 97.5 is a number! Let´s see...
