Rocksmith 2014 Windows 11

Inner200k

Question

I have the problem of Rocksmith 2014 Remastered (Steam) launching a white box window and forthwith just exiting immediately, does anyone actually know a solution to this problem I've had for nearly 2 years!

I've literally tried everything I've ever found over the months and years from turning off Bluetooth / Disabling drivers / Removing drivers & Clean install after clean install it just simply does not work unless, I dual boot to Windows 10 and quite literally - Install nothing but Steam & Install Rocksmith and additional patches and so forth works fine, what on earth is so bad about Windows 11 my primary OS that it hates so bad!

Though you may think the problem is Windows 11 itself, I doubt that is the root cause. I am using Windows 11, and so are lots of other people who have the game working fine.

I have not heard of this problem with having just a white box appear. If it works in Windows 10 (and I am assuming by your wording, that it's a fresh install of Windows 10 with nothing but Steam + Rocksmith installed), then I'm going to also assume it would probably work the same on a fresh install of Windows 11.

  • Are you using the RealTone Cable and headphones/speakers plugged directly into your computer?
  • What CPU do you have?
  • Have you used an Oculus device in the past on your Windows 11 install?
  • Does the game still not launch correctly with nothing but a fresh install (no extra dlls, no mods, nothing)?

There are a lot of factors that could be causing the issue. If you would like faster responses, you can join us in #support on our Discord.

I'll own you one day. 💜

That is what is so monumentally frustrating to level you can't even begin to comprehend 🙂 I know, and have seen (you tube) others having to going.

  1. RealTone (negative) I use a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (works just fine under windows 10, when everything it properly configured) but I haven't even gotten that far to configure it yet, it's basically fresh install so no preservatives or flavorings added.
  2. Not quite sure why that matters (12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900KF   3.20 GHz).
  3. Oculus device (Yes Version 2)
    1. Disabling the (Oculus Virtual Audio Device) [had no effect]
    2. More in depth; Disabling NVIDIA High Definition Audio, NVIDIA High Definition Audio (Wave Extensible) (WDM) & (Oculus Virtual Audio Device) [had no effect], I only left Focusrite USB Audio as enabled as that is the default path for all audio to travel.
  4. Launch correctly with nothing (Yes) for awhile, as in I've dual booted Windows 11 rolled back to having both Windows 11 and  Window 10, because eventually without me touching anything somehow it stopped working mysteriously over time for no apparent reason, and having it on Windows 10 was the only way I could keep it stable.

Discord.. I might just do that, also need to post if eventually it does start running to post the solution here so that others that might search of google might find it of some use.

Please. You might be by some strange chance the only person right now to have this happen, but I doubt it. I also doubt you would ever be the only one in the future. As you said, I am sure it will be of help to someone, and helps us understand, no matter how silly the answer might seem. It is often the small things get overlooked.

i9-12900KF - doubted it was the processor as it works in Win10 and the newest .dll addresses the 32 thread cpu problem.

I am assuming this double boot is on the same hdd/sdd?  Is it possible for you (do you have a small drive not being used?) to make a Win11 install on a drive by itself as a test? Say installing Win11 on another drive, adding only Rocksmith 2014, and see if a complete bare bones install allows the game to run? Then go from there adding Scarlett if it does? Then so forth to see what the conflict is?

If a bare bones Win11 does not work, then you know that is where the issue is, the OS. If not you can work from there, eliminating the possibility of the dual boot being an  issue, or a Win11 issue, then adding items to see what causes the crash.

Oh goodness me, I completely forgot I made this post I meant to return when I got it working again.

What actually happened after I went radio silence was, I went to the Discord channel #support and talked with few people in the channel; so while I never came to absolute conclusion to what was coursing the issue here is what I did; (You might not like the solution but it's mine)

  • My Rocksmith 2014 Remastered runs from is very own installation of Windows 10 no adulterants (eg. no drivers for anything that is not required for RS2014 to run not even graphics drivers)
  • I use a Focusrite Solo 3rd Gen ( installed v3.06 drivers the oldest I could obtain, as the newer ones broke even under windows 10 [nb: if you hadn't registered your device they are unobtainium anywhere else other than the offical website ] )
  • Installed all the classic mod/software at this point for RS2014

  • [Since then I've installed] Additionally I've installed OBS & Remeeter

Future Plan:
Disallow any change, not driver update, not a windows update, basically a the fort knots of prison cell for RS2014

The conclusion;
I'll never know exactly what was coursing the issues under Windows 11, while some have no issue others it's a no go even the common things that appear when googling the issue [Oculus for example being one] disabling the multitude things resulted in no change at all.
