Is it possible to download rocksmith 2014 ?

I'm helping a new player and he has an uopened rocksmith 2014 remastered edition. Is it possible to install the app from the disc or is it availble for download with the enclosed keys?Thank you for any info you can provide.

If you buy a sealed new physical boxed version of Rocksmith 2014,  inside there will be a code for the platform you buy it for.  If you buy a PC Boxed version, you will have a steam code inside, the steam code can still be redeemed and installed with steam.
