  1. @@then3verend - I've been trying, and I've had a ton of takes (OK, like 5) end up in the high 98s, but haven't been able to get above 99 again. This was my best recent attempt. http://i.imgur.com/BPvcHRu.jpg Big streak before the first set of bends, then the huge ass streak after the slidey descent on the D string through to the crazy part of the outro. Started taking video at the last verse just to see how many misses I'd get from there. Somehow ended up with 6 with the bends and stuff in the outro. I would have needed to be extremely lucky to get 0 misses there (which would have tied you on accuracy), but it still felt tantalizingly close. Probably will try again soon. Thankfully this song doesn't kill my fretting hand.
  2. @@then3verend - If you'd beaten me by any more I'd have probably just conceded. But beating me by a single note... It's pretty unlikely I'll do better, but I at least have to try. @@PierreDole - Welcome! That sounds right. As bernixix said, you can also post screenshots for songs outside of your class if you want to. @@bernixix - I hope you got some sleep!
  3. @@NoonyDeloony - Sorry to hear about your son! I hope you get some drama free weeks soon. @@2groggy - That story about your scar is pretty hilarious. Anyway, making NDD versions of songs is pretty easy with the Toolkit. You just 1) go to the "DDC" tab 2) add the .psarc file you want to remove DD from 3) switch the "Ramp-up model" to "ddc_dd_remover" 4) increase the phrase length a lot. I used 40 in the file I uploaded. 5) Click the "Generate DD" button. Also, Little Green Bag is a pretty tricky song. I did a few attempts at it but I think my highest score was in the low-to-mid 97s. I think part of that is that I've never really mastered the proper technique for pulloffs, and my slides can also be iffy. But it's definitely a good deal more difficult than the advanced songs over the past few weeks. @@then3verend - I know that dilemma with the versions. It also took a lot of work for me to master the slides, since I don't think I've fully gained (or at least regained since I started playing again) the ability to know how far my hand has to move to go from one fret to another without looking. I think the slide I had the most trouble with was one that was like "D 3h5/16, A 14h15, G 17", with the next hammer-on coming really quickly after the slide. Took a lot of practice to get that one to the point where I wasn't guaranteed at least one miss on those notes. @ - Keep it up! If not for my having a magical take this afternoon you'd have the lead! @ - Maybe guitar strings are more bendy than bass strings, but I dislike doing bends on the G string, and I especially hate doing full step bends on it, particularly if the note isn't near the midpoint. I can't imagine doing the kinds of bends that in The Loner on heavy gauge strings!
  4. You mean you didn't score 567891234?! Well, guess that's moved up the schedule for trying to put everything together. Edit: looks like I succeeded in putting it all together. Knew I had something special going when I kept the streak from the fast/octavey part way past where I usually lose it (the bends on the 15th fret of G string). Still made one or two dumb mistakes early on, but I can't complain too much. http://i.imgur.com/M33ngEg.jpg
  5. @ - thanks, but I think I'm lacking a lot of the necessary equipment. I know the pedals aren't necessary, but I don't even have a signal splitter or anything like that. @@then3verend, @ - looks like it's a three way battle now, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the other MCers catch up. I look forward to seeing who comes out on top, and with what score, over the next 3 days or so. Edit: Just for fun, I put the whole song through RR without playing anything to see how many notes there are. I got 1519 in the Karmeleaux version (I think fripp's might be different by a few notes - perhaps slides in the intro). I think that means I hit 1496 notes, while @@then3verend hit 1493, and @ hit 1491 or so. I also did some RR on the middle sections of the song (broken into three big chunks) and the outro. I think after a few attempts my best takes on each section were 6 (or maybe it was 4?), 7, 0, and 2 misses. If (a big if) I can string those together that gets me to 1504, or (just barely) over 99%. I think I should be able to improve on a little bit with time in RR, but I don't think I'll nail all of the high G string bends in the outro just before it turns to noise.
  6. I did a video again. This time without the original audio to avoid copyright issues. This meant playing the song without any audio as well (I thought of trying to play it simultaneously from an outside source, but I had no idea how I could sync that up, so I decided to forgo trying that). It's really hard to play this song without all of the audio cues from the other instruments. I especially had a hard time with all of the sections that go above the 12th fret. Somehow I still managed the same score as in my previous video version (97.23%, but I didn't show the screen, just in case). Anyway, here it is:
  7. @ - you're kicking the you of ~7 months ago's ass! More than half of the way closer to perfection! Though trying to get there can give you a Zeno's paradox kind of feel.
  8. @ - I wouldn't want you to have to change your name :D http://i.imgur.com/CSvcKYw.jpg (still using the other version because it's what I learned first. Also, for whatever reason I find open strings much harder to read than fretted notes in Rocksmith, and there are more in your version. Riffs that rapidly switch between open strings are the bane of my existence, not that there are any in this particular song.)
  9. Well, my video got removed on copyright grounds. Not really unexpected, given how it's pretty much impossible to find digital copies of the studio version of 21st Century Schizoid Man online (it's on itunes, but I think that's about it), but still kind of disappointing. Guess I'll be sticking to screenshots for the rest of the week.
  10. @@bernixix, just try my version, it's maybe more accurate. I tried yours, and I think it's pretty much the same, except a weird thing where all of your notes are half a step down from the ones in the other version. Some things are also moved to different strings so there's less shifting. Other than these two factors they seemed pretty much identical for the bass.
  11. Thanks @@cozy1, I think I got it fixed now. I think I might have had too recent a version of Wwise installed or something weird like that, but I think I got it working now. I'll keep you guys updated in case anything goes wrong in the future. Thanks again!
  12. Where did I put my gloves? It's been so warm here recently I haven't needed them for a while. Oh, there they are. *Throws down the glove* http://i.imgur.com/v48iQ5M.jpg @@then3verend - here's a longer term goal for you :P I don't really know how this happened. This isn't really the type of song that I would have said was my strong suit (well, it does have some parts that are just "play this note fast", which is pretty much my specialty). I'll try to do a video at some point, especially if I feel a performance of this caliber can be repeated or exceeded. Edit: Video added, but now removed from youtube. Probably not unexpected, given that you pretty much can't find digital versions of the studio version of 21CSM anywhere.
  13. I meant to post this earlier, but didn't get around to it for a while. Around the beginning of the month I upgraded the toolkit to the most recent version and tried to generate a CDLC but got this error. I hadn't gotten the error with some previous CDLC that I'd tried to make, but when trying to generate them again from the same files I got the same error again. I also have the log file if people need to see it, but wasn't sure how I should post it (or whether I should post it here since it has a lot of text). Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Thanks for your help!
  14. Looking at online guitar tabs it looks like this version of Working Man is pretty much straight from version 1 on ultimate-guitar. Not sure any of the other versions are much better, though, for quickly making a new version. I think postponing it for a while until we feel there's a good version is a good compromise. It's definitely a song that I'd like to play, but in it's current state it's more frustrating than fun. How would we end up selecting a new song for this week if we do? Just at random again? Or choose one that we know is good?
  15. I forgot to mention this earlier, but I noticed a part in the bass section of Working Man that seemed a bit off. In the pulloff riff (around 3:15 into the song) it has the note after the pulloff being on the D string, whereas it seems like it should be on the E string (which would better follow the guitar, and also make it the same as the part around 3:27 but an octave lower). It's not a huge deal either way, but it feels a little bit weird for me to play it the way it is now. The end's also not synced up well, but since it's just a few notes I can't say I care much at all. Just figured I'd mention it along with the above. (Also, should I be posting this here, or on the song comment thread?) Edit: While I'm at the podium, I'll also say that it would be nice to have many more RR sections for (at least) the bass part. Two of the sections under the solo are over a minute long!
  16. First semi-serious attempt (I'd played through it a few times before it was chosen). Score isn't too bad: http://i.imgur.com/DcMyV1a.jpg But it looks like I have more than a little room for improvement in the second half: http://i.imgur.com/Pqe9TAV.jpg
  17. @@then3verend - I have to ask: did you play that earlier but not post it yet "just in case", or did you just see @@Nacholede's score and immediately go play the song and beat it on your first take?
  18. @@NoonyDeloony - I hope you can get a new monitor soon! I hope that the move went well otherwise. Let's go @ - getting those last few notes is always tough, but you got this! On the subject of promotion to MC, I'm feeling like I'm ready for bass MC now. I'm hoping I don't regret this decision when the song selection is announced.
  19. Another few takes at Lazy, now with video! Unfortunately, I hadn't worked out all the kinks of the video before my best take, so I just have the screenshot for that. http://i.imgur.com/hqwDlIX.jpg Interestingly, on both of these attempts I was far better at the first half than in my previous best attempt, but also much worse at the second half (perhaps because I didn't practice it in RR for over an hour beforehand). There's a definite trend to all of my misses on that one riff in the second half: I'm pretty sure all of them were on the note on the middle string after the octave. Not entirely sure why I'd be fretting that one so poorly so consistently, but apparently it's a thing.
  20. After lots of time in riff repeater, especially in the later parts of the song, I was able to significantly improve my accuracy on lazy. Unfortunately, I think I was a bit sloppier in the early parts of the song than in some past attempts. I think if I played all of the parts as well as could reasonably be expected I could get up to 98, or maybe 98.5 percent, but I doubt I could do much better than that without some serious time investment. http://i.imgur.com/MWDAz1f.jpg
  21. On a previous take I messed up during the last chorus ("You think you made it?" Apparently not.). But I finally got that 100% out of the way. http://i.imgur.com/ARoW9mq.jpg Will hopefully be able to up my score on Lazy during the remainder of the week. Provided I'm not feeling too... lazy.
  22. I'm not sure I can definitively say as enjoyable, but I really enjoy watching it. Knowing that a lot of it is us pushing each other to improve past the point where we'd probably just say "good enough" and stop is also really cool.
  23. Did some serious takes on the Tankard song. Here was my best effort: http://i.imgur.com/AIw7Vfo.jpg I forget where the note I missed was. I'm pretty sure it wasn't one of the trickier sections of the song, though. Probably will do a 100% attempt at some point. Also added my latest attempt at Lazy. I beat @@then3verend ('s first attempt. I take what I can get.)! http://i.imgur.com/0WQnVMq.jpg
  24. Story of my life while practicing Lazy in riff repeater: Play at 95% speed - 0 misses. First play at 100% speed - 23 misses. Guess I'll go practice some more at slower speeds. And then maybe go at 96, 97, 98, and 99 percent if I'm still getting destroyed at full speed. (And yes, I'm aware I'm not in master class. The song is really fun to play. The advanced song is also pretty fun.)
