  1. I'm traveling most of this week so I'll only have today and tomorrow, and most of the days are filled up with the honey dew list. Joe Cocker - a cool groove and lots of fun 99% I don't have time to perfect it this week. Maybe I'll taunt the FreeBird police by carrying it over into next week. Jackson 5 - also lots of fun. I'd been working on this one a few months back and never quite got my speed where it needs to be. So far, I'm back up to on it. 94% but I'm expecting to improve. I won't have time to do anything serious with Fishbone, so I'll try the other one in a minute
  2. I got a start on Angie on bass this week On You Got Spirit Kid, I have to admit that I don't have the rhythm down yet but still had a reasonable score. I won't post it because I want to get a better feel for the song first
  3. I'd never heard any of these songs before so I ran through each once or twice on bass.. Beginner - 100% on the first run through Intermediate - 99.7% by the second run through. I'm sure that I had a few more late notes than the score indicates, but the seem to have been forgiven. On Stratus, it seemed busy enough to try it at 80% speed in RR. It was far too forgiving of obvious mistakes. Until I got to the crazy bit at the end, I showed as having 6 missed, when it felt like I deserved 60 or more. How is the note recognition on bass at regular speed? I'll probably work on the When the Wind Blows song for this week because I'll probably learn the most from it, with the arpegios and all.
  4. Teacher on bass - up at 99.2%. I'm still struggling with the bit around the flute solo. Of course, when the terms "flute solo" and "rock music". it's a safe wager that they refer to Jethro Tull.
  5. Leave it to a FreeBird to behave like a seagull - swoop in, make unpleasant noise, drop unwanted deposits and then soar into the distance. ;) Both beginner bass songs this week are just too easy to the point of being boring. I did one pass through of each, without RR and both scores were 99% plus. I'd never even heard the song Where The Sky Ends before and still scored 100%. For Who Can It Be Now, I had to settle for 99.2%. Teacher was more challenging and probably my choice for practice this week. After an hour in RR i"m at 95%. The middle bit around the flute solo will take some work. Kickstart My Heart seems easy to score well on bass, but tougher to play well. Not having heard the song before, I scored 98%. If I liked the genre, I could learn the song and improve my playing, but I'd have more fun sticking to Teacher. I'll stop crapping all over the place and fly away now :P
  6. Some improvements... My best score on (Mmm)4 was half way through a one hour session of continuous play = 98.4% It isn't the usual screen shot, but I'm a FreeBird anyways, so who, cares. I've tried using the hopoTM approach on Helsinki Jam, with some improvement - nothing earth shattering, but up over 80% Note that I have taken the liberty of registering the Trade Mark on "hopo" on behalf of @@NoonyDeloony. Expect her to create a genuine set of hopoTM training materials and accessories, all available over the web at minimal cost except for the excessive shipping and handling fees. Her checque will eventually be in the mail once all costs and reasonable management fees have been recouped.
  7. For those of us across the pond, could we trouble you to translate this from English English into plain English? :PChris Wolstenholme plays with hammer ons and pull offs... The Catalina wine mixer is a movie reference from Step Brothers, po's and ho's just reminds me of their mash up https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o8T095mFdW8 :) Ah, so hos and pos are TLAs (Two Letter Acronyms), not to be confused with TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms). Unfortunately I missed Step Brothers at the latest high-art film festival. Thanks for the clarification
  8. I got a start on a couple of the bass lines... (Mmm)4 on bass = 96% Heldsinki Jam on bass = 79% I just can't keep up to that tempo (yet)
  9. For those of us across the pond, could we trouble you to translate this from English English into plain English? :P
  10. @@Nacholede, it could be as simple as a loose nut holding the jack in place - this can make the ground connection intermittent.
  11. On the bends at the start of GFD, are you playing the D-E^-D-B^-D-D riff all on the A string? I've also tried two alternate fingerings (using the B on the E string, or using the open D and E on the D string). I can't decide which sounds least unlike music. About the thumb comment, are you finger picking? Or do you mean plucking the low E using the thumb of the fretting hand. Wait, don't answer that or @ might send the FreeBird police. :D
  12. Dammit! I tried it...oops.. I mean I heard that a friend tried it (def. not me, nope) and it cut the number of misses in half in that first section. In the second section, are people fingering the full barre chords and just plucking the desired strings or fingering as shown in the note highway? Any help would be appreciated, because that song is a complete train wreck for me. I haven't gotten any further than the second section.
  13. Cross-Eyed Mary on bass = 99.72% - anything to avoid the difficulties of continuing the embarrassment of my guitar playing on Grounds for Divorce
  14. Fixed, thanks So there are limits to how far you're willing to push the rules! It's best not to give a smartalec like me any ideas :P Dear FreeBird police, I solemnly swear not to deliberately embed the wrong link in one of my posts, nope, never, hardly at all.
  15. More work on Grounds for Divorce... bass = 100%, lead = a big steaming pile. Cross-Eyed Mary on bass is up to 98%
  16. Can someone make a play-through video of Grounds for Divorce on Lead? So far, only @@fiddlesticks has posted a score (nice 100% BTW). But I can't get anything about this song right at any speed. In stead of doing the same wrong things, I'd like a glimpse of the right things.
  17. I put another half hour of work into Cross-Eyed Mary and am up to 97.3% I decided that it was time for a change and tried Grounds for Divorce and realized that I heard that exact song on the radio last night. Randy Bachman of BTO has a Friday night show on CBC and highlighted this song. I'd never heard it before that. So it must be karma - I must work on this song this week. So far, I got up to 96.5% bass. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=496591513. I'll have to dust off a guitar and try it on lead. Edit - I must confess that I did attempt to play the lead part on the bass, but couldn't get the bends right. Please don't tell the FreeBird police.
  18. Getting started with Cross Eyed Mary on bass - after half an hour in RR at 80% speed, I scored 95% at full speed
  19. Monsters on bass - an improvement, as promised http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=495929423 I don't know if I'll have time to improve Forever
  20. I'm back from my trip to some distant convention centre that looks like every other convention centre. It was like starting from scratch again on Monsters bass and whatever that beginners bass song is called. I have them back up to over 97%. I'll improve them and post screen shots tomorrow.
  21. @@missis sumner - if you mouse over the very bottom of the post, the edit and quote links may appear. I've seen that on different browsers. Regrading the failed drop height laptop ruggedness test, we need an [i feel your pain] button, because [like this] just isn't right. And I have a dodgy RS cable. I'll try putting a new end on it some day. (pretend that i selected [like this] in your post)
  22. I had my first passes on bass for this week Forever Muffin Man Monsters I'll be traveling for part of the week and will limit my self to one of these. Monsters seems to be the most fun. Hmmm, now I do have a travel guitar that will fit in overhead storage.... I's still trying to decide if I'll have time to even touch it.
  23. 2 guitars and 2 basses, The first guitar was a kit build and the rest were built from purchased parts. I still have one bass neck and a pair of Jazz bass pick-ups. Plus, the balance on my first bass is off, so I'll probably replace the body with one that has a longer upper horn... back to the wood shop (not wood shed).
  24. I've been working on Download This Revolution since it was posted in the Reggae area. Having played it through 20 times gives me a head start. But I' playing FreeBird anyway, so scores don't matter. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=488131010 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=488131032
