  1. MVega, I downloaded and watched your song play out and the lyrics do not exhibit any problem of showing up substantially in advance of when the singer actually sings the lyric. It seems like my Rocksmith is immune to non-Custom Tone bugs and early appearing lyrics ..... I don't know how to help you if your lyrics work perfectly on my computer... One thing, I would recommend you add sustain to your text notes in EoF by selecting grid snap off (to avoid inadvertently moving the text note), selecting the text note (usually a word or syllable) with the left mouse click until it turns green, then using your mousewheel to extend the singing sustain of that text note. Like this the text note stays blue for the entire duration that the singer is singing that text note. It takes a few minutes to adjust the entire song to add sustains where appropriate and to end the sustain at the exact perfect spot using the adjust-listen-rewind-adjust-listen-rewind procedure. Any way, if ever you can get us some repeatable early lyric appearance behaviour. Please post here. Nice song by the way.
  2. Smelly do you see a reason why unpacking and obtaining guitar.ogg and notes.eof ourselves might not convey the issue as properly as if MartyV provides them to us? Could unpacking mask the problem? I'll finish helping a friend with his CDLC and then hopefully tomorrow I could start looking at this. I'm curious. Marty, did you use Ultrastar for lyrics? If not what?
  3. Thanks ffsimaloo3r! More AMOLAD. Awesome! I'll update the OP. Tortue22, Duellists ... Take your time this is one of their greatest. We'll be here mouse-click happy whenever you are done. MrCscn I had the same issue yesterday with another song, I forgot CDLC-101: set the AppId in the toolkit to an ODLC that you have purchased. I suspect that might be the issue.
  4. Yes sorry it was in response to you or the artist formerly known as MartyV. I didn't know you could change your name. :)
  5. I am glad several of squarc's requests are already released. I will do Alexander the Great after No More Lies... But be warned I progress slowly due to very restricted free time. I will check if your tab is better than mine squarc. Yes we need some Blaze songs and Clansman would be nice. Nice suggestion MrCscn That said may I recommend trying your hand at authoring your most desired Maiden song. I swear to you authoring a CDLC has been one of the most rewarding learning experiences I have ever undergone and I was mostly ignorant about music theory and guitar. You may feel lost at the beginning but the various tutorials in this site and the help menu inside EoF has great descriptions on how to get started. Just note some sections of the help menu are a bit more related to Rockband but there are definitely very important sections dedicated to Rocksmith. On top of everything I have made many nice friends on SA and now CF. Watch Pyrobillie's tutorials even though a tiny bit has changed since RS2012. I haven't watched Skeptic Squid's tutorial on this site yet but I suspect that is also great. Nonetheless these are the two links that gave me the most confidence to get started as they paint a pretty complete procedure. http://forums.smithyanvil.com/viewtopic.php?id=6894 http://forums.smithyanvil.com/viewtopic.php?id=6960 Start with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star just to get the steps down. You'll never be so excited at seeing a Rocksmith song even if it is Twinkle Twinkle.... :) Ask questions on the site in the appropriate section. People here are so generous with advice it is Insane and well posed questions are invariably answered within the hour. Let me know if you want me to place your name beside a song please. This discography project will only complete itself by people who are frightened like you and I but who love Maiden too much to not bother trying. So which type of die hard fan will you be? An admirer or a spreader of the the gospel of Maiden. I hope you choose to perpetuate pleasure in thousands of homes across the world.
  6. Guys check out Killeroyo's fresh new song: When the Wild Wind Blows.... This beautiful melody is quite fun to play. It has all 3 guitarist arrangments to boot. http://customsforge.com/topic/3564-when-the-wild-wind-blows/?hl=%2Bwhen+%2Bwild Don't worry everyone, in a little bit I will make the original post contain hyperlinks to the CDLC. Not enough hours in a day between work, home duties, reading the site, helping out, downloading new content and trying to create a tone for No More Lies.
  7. Can you send me your project or psarc file so I can look at it letting me know where is this occurs. I have not been able to reproduce this to understand this. I can't guarantee I will have a solution for you but I will try.
  8. Will try out Hallowed immediately. Who cares if my son wakes up!!! By the way I think the banned guy putting up duplicates of other people's CDLC may have been Oskiiriver14. I didn't report it but I suspected as much since he was conveniently authoring exclusively songs that were already made. Seeing his songs are no longer in the database and a search for his name returns nothing, I will therefore remove his contributions from the OP.
  9. Hi ffsimaloos3r, Too new, I don't have this in my collection... Here is the highest rated version I found on Ultimate Guitar and it doesn't have the Satelitte 15 intro part. http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/i/iron_maiden/satellite_15_the_final_frontier_guitar_pro.htm But this one rated as 3 stars does have it, in fact it is only Satellite15, and from what I could hear in GP, it's sounds good. The baseline sounds great. http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/i/iron_maiden/satellite_15_the_final_frontier_ver2_guitar_pro.htm Wow just listening to the midi and imagining playing your next CDLC gives me goosebumps! Hang in there please! Perhaps you can import both into separate projects and copy one set of notes from one project into another.
  10. Chazite! Welcome back! I was looking for you! Oskiiriver also made Wasted Years but you should repost your version on CF. Later. An eternity of anticipation!Anyone, if you are missing tabs I have a bunch. Some are book scans others are gp files.
  11. Version 1.1 of the tutorial is now online. Whatever text changed since the previous version now appears in bold green.... I wouldn't want to make you read it all over again... :) Thanks again to raynebc for all his help and guidance and relentlessness at improving an already impressive feature set.
  12. Thanks man! A bold choice for a first CDLC. I know how it is, No More Lies is my first and what a LONG yet fruitful learning experience. Almost ready for you all. I am admittedly a beginner guitarist. I will test this song for sure but probably more meaningful comments than mine are surely available. Can anyone with good guitar experience give feedback to ffgsimaloos3r? Guys, this is really ramping up. We will have ourselves a discography soon enough!!! Up the Irons!
  13. Oh well. Understood. But all is not lost. The link below fortunately points to many existing tabs for this song just on Ultimate-Guitar. Plus I didn't check Songster. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/search.php?search_type=title&value=iron+maiden+hallowed+by+the+name If all those are not to your liking, let me know, I have 8 different versions in gp3 format I could e-mail you that I've. I'm not trying to force you into anything, but I am just trying to show that we are far from having exhausted our options. And of course we always have chlipouni. I have a pile of tabs books. I'll see if I can't scan you something. I really appreciate that you want this song to be quality. We will all be extremely grateful to you!
  14. Hi MrCscn, Thanks for pointing out an omitted port from Smithy Anvil. The honourable thing to do is to ask to the author to post here. I sent topShelf a PM asking him for this. I don't see why he would say no since he did port Blood Brothers over here and his Smithy Anvil post still exists. Here is the link. If you aren't registered over there, I think they are not accepting any new users so then we'd have to wait for topShelf to port it over. http://forums.smithyanvil.com/viewtopic.php?id=11098 Do let me know if anything else hasn't ported over from SA. Cheers! EDIT: Excellent news, The Evil that Men Do is incoming thanks to topShelf1221! Thank-you!
  15. Hi Snake3169, I found a GP tab for Hallowed Be Thy Name on Ultimate-Guitar rated by 16 people as 5 stars which I am listening to right now in Midi sound in GP and it sounds pretty good. Check it out. http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/i/iron_maiden/hallowed_be_thy_name_ver10_guitar_pro.htm I hope you like the tab enough to resume your sublime gift to us all. If you like there is a Rocksmith 2012 version by chlipouni. If you don't like the linked tab, perhaps you can ask for the one he used to author this song for RS2012. Perhaps you could even ask his permission to start from his RS2012 project. SEveral avenues to go about it I guess. Please don't give up. Cheers.
  16. Oops my bad! Sorry. Since you will now do both, seems like it was a fortuitous mistake. Thanks so much! OP updated.
  17. Excellent ffsimaloos3r, Final Frontier is gonna be really fun to play! Updated the OP with your name. Thanks! We are breaking new ground as no one has yet made anything from the last album! Thanks for breaking the ice.
  18. Great times ahead!!!! I've warned my wife that this will be so, yet without her company, unless she wishes to see her man fail miserably for hours on end until perfection is achieved. Thanks snake!
  19. Nothing like a long post to quiet everyone down.... hahahaha... enjoy the rest raynebc :) Sorry about the inconsistent font in my above post. I'm having trouble with the editor.
  20. Glad you like the above screenshot mrmaton. Looks promising huh! If raynebc says he's happy with it, I will post the screenshot in the open bug report. I don't really do anything special with screenshots. I just space out the notes time-wise and hit Prtintscreen button when the sequence of interest comes along. Then I crop in paint, and post. But thanks... :) I had a listen to your song and looking at it in EoF (raynebc posted it in the github developer web site, which is what allowed me to easily test his Before and After code that generated the most recent screenshot) and wow, that is not only a very nice song but a highly dense and complex chart! That is one nasty challenging song you have authored! Nicely done! Fingers crossed that raynebc and the other developers find a nice way to author this. You won't escape tech notes, I think, but really they are a piece of cake once you understand them. Yes, I look forward to seeing your tab for this CDLC so I can use it. Good night.
  21. Hi all, Just wanted to share the e-mail Q & A I had with raynebc regarding some recent Hotfix-related features for which I wanted clarification and which are mostly related to Tech Notes so that I could make a more informed Tech Note Tutorial update soon. Berneer Question 1: i) I tested this EoF. This doesn’t resolve the moving of tech notes when regular notes are moved. ii) Question 11 Bullet 1 of Tech Notes: "If you place tech notes on top of a regular note and then move that regular note, the tech notes will not move with it. (raynebc will eventually address this)" is still a limitation, right? raynebc Answer 1: i) Auto-adjust is the mechanism where notes are moved when you click and drag beat markers. ii) Yes, for now. Berneer Question 2: I tested in EoF. I actually moved a chord with tech notes inside occurring in the middle of the song and moving the beat marker near the chord moved the regular and text notes accordingly. Why do you go to the trouble of stating the “first beat marker” when in fact it seems to be “any beat marker” that can be moved to move tech notes. raynebc Answer 2: Auto-adjust (as described above) is a different function in the code than moving notes with the first beat marker. I had to update both functions. Berneer Question 3: This seems to remove the limitation discussed in Question 11 Bullet 3 of the Tech Notes Tutorial “- When copying over tech notes to different difficulty levels in EoF, since the tech notes are stored separately from the regular notes, the copying and manipulation of difficulty levels are not yet supported. (raynebc WIP)”I managed to create a new difficulty and copy over regular and tech notes alike perfectly. I can therefore consider this limitation as addressed. My only question is that you mention updating "Manage RS phrases". Not sure what this feature does and what you've updated. Can you please explain? raynebc Answer 3 “Manage RS phrase" adds or removes a difficulty level for individual phrases in the project, for manually creating dynamic difficulties. This feature now removes or bumps up the difficulty level of tech notes as appropriate when you remove or add a difficulty level for the specified phrase. Berneer Question 4: Does this mean that phrases names above the piano roll will resume being exclusively green with yellow text in it instead of the mysterious recent blue with white text in it? raynebc Answer 4: Yes, when tech view was in effect, the phrase coloring logic was looking at the tech notes instead of the regular notes. Berneer Question 5: Just to be clear, this was an attempt to make cstewart's chord slide inspired idea work albeit without the desired results. Or was there more to it than this? raynebc Answer 5: The sustain status was exporting, but I had to add some more logic in order for a tech note to be able to apply sustain status to an individual note in a chord. Berneer Question 6: Can you explain this? I don't get it. raynebc Answer 6: Due to the way I implemented tech notes, many functions treated the active note set (normal notes or tech notes) as being the same thing. I've had to update specific functions to make sure they manipulate the regular notes even when tech view is in effect. Berneer Question 7: i) You only mention complex bends importing from GP. Are there other notes with tech notes that don't yet import that you expect to eventually make import. I'm thinking techniques applied to only some of the strings of a chord may also challenge EoF? Maybe not? ii) Regarding bends, if you look at Example 10 of the Tech Note Tutorial I suppose that what gets imported from GP is what is in this Guitar Pro Bend Editor screenshot? Guitar Pro Bend Editor http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/SmithyAnvilStuff/raynebc%20Hotfix%201296%20to%201300%20QA/BendEditor_zps526ff69b.png Example 10 - Tab notation in this example more difficult to interpret than above bend editor? http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/Example10-QuicknessofBending-InGame_zps6ecacb7a.png raynebc Answer 7: i) I don't think Guitar Pro actually lets you define chords where some notes have a technique and others don't, or at least I couldn't find a way to do so. Maybe the GPX format can store complicated notations like that, but I couldn't tell that the GP5 file format has a way to define that. ii) EOF would import that as a single note that bends, releases, bends again and ends while bent. It might be a good example to provide. Berneer Question 8: So if I understand correctly, on top of creating the STOP tech notes to prevent the sustains you needed to fix linknext on tech notes too to export individual notes of chords as single notes, thus no longer needing the “sustain” status? raynebc Answer 8: Yep. The specific way that cstewart's desired result was required that everything be exported as single notes. Berneer Question 9: I suppose now I’ll update the Tech Note tutorial Question 3 “For slides: Note that with the exception of bends, tech notes always apply the technique to the beginning of whichever note on top of which they reside. “ to say that only slides AND Stop tech notes affect the beginning STOPS apply their technique to the beginning. raynebc Answer 9: Stop tech notes apply that status anywhere on the note (like with bend tech notes). It was only a coincidence that in cstewart's example that I put them on the start position of the open notes because that was the desired effect (non sustaining open notes). Bend is the only actual technique that Rocksmith supports being applied in the middle of a note. Other techniques required the linkNext mechanism, such as notes that started a bend after it sustained for a while (or something like Example 15 of the tutorial). "Stop" isn't actually a Rocksmith technique, it's just a mechanism in EOF to allow notes in a chord to have unique lengths, since that's not something EOF normally supports. Note to readers: As of the time of this writing there is an open issue/bug report ticket opened on github (Issue #153) that deals with two problems: 1) Stop-Tech-notes freezing the game in this following example and 2) linknext tech note not properly removing subsequent note heads as documented in this thread started by mrmaton. http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/SmithyAnvilStuff/raynebc%20Hotfix%201296%20to%201300%20QA/Chordwithvaryingstopsperstring_zpsa085f492.png RAYNEBC COMMENT: I can't think of any reason for this not to work, unless there is an unidentified limitation in Rocksmith where it doesn't support chordnotes in a chord to have different lengths (apart from some of them being having no sustain at all). It may be a good idea to mention this to the toolkit developers. I will make the necessary updates and adjustments to the Tech Note Tutorial as new information and examples arise.
  22. raynebc, I finally tested your AFTER XML code posted in your earlier post where the chordNotes that had linkNext status are made longer and linknext status removed and the corresponding single note tag is removed. I think you've hit paydirt! Looks intuitive! Here is the screenshot in-game: http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/SmithyAnvilStuff/Authoring%20chord%20with%20some%20linknext%20and%20some%20HOPO/raynebc_moddedXML_test_linknexted_made_longer-in-game_zps3c870d72.png In my earlier post I had thought fine for the orange sustain to break with the the HO and then again with the PO, but even though there are now two simultaneous orange note tails during the HO and PO, I think it looks intuitive that a chord (actually a double stop) be picked and then a HO and PO be executed and essentially with the PO it is as though we are just reverting back to that prevailing 9-9 double stop. Once you comment on this I can alert the developers on the Github bug report of this new XML and screenshot. Does this mean the EoF workaround you propose could close that portion of the bug report? Far be it for the student to compliment the teacher, but nonetheless, nice work raynebc! I guess we'll have to wait for yours and developer feedback for me to know how we will author this for insertion into the Tech Notes Tutorial.
  23. Hi guys, My boy napped for a whopping 7 glorious minutes so I only got to test my hunch of a trend I expressed earlier that linknext fails to remove noteheads on the 2nd chord authored but usually seems to behave better by the 3rd chord. So I tried adding more HOPO's to see if it would enlighten us. Alas, no. The trend not only fails to continue but a new inconsistency arose in the the later HO and PO note heads don't appear. Here is a screenshot of my test: http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/SmithyAnvilStuff/Authoring%20chord%20with%20some%20linknext%20and%20some%20HOPO/mrmatonexample-E3withLinknextandHOPO-TestmultipleHOPO_zpsab29724c.png <note time="37.474" linkNext="0" accent="0" bend="0" fret="11" hammerOn="1" harmonic="0" hopo="1" ignore="0" leftHand="-1" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="0" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="3" sustain="0.277" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> <note time="37.474" linkNext="1" accent="0" bend="0" fret="9" hammerOn="0" harmonic="0" hopo="0" ignore="0" leftHand="-1" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="0" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="4" sustain="0.277" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> <note time="37.751" linkNext="0" accent="0" bend="0" fret="9" hammerOn="0" harmonic="0" hopo="1" ignore="0" leftHand="-1" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="1" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="3" sustain="0.275" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> <note time="37.751" linkNext="1" accent="0" bend="0" fret="9" hammerOn="0" harmonic="0" hopo="0" ignore="0" leftHand="-1" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="0" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="4" sustain="0.275" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> <note time="38.029" linkNext="0" accent="0" bend="0" fret="11" hammerOn="1" harmonic="0" hopo="1" ignore="0" leftHand="-1" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="0" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="3" sustain="0.274" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> <note time="38.029" linkNext="1" accent="0" bend="0" fret="9" hammerOn="0" harmonic="0" hopo="0" ignore="0" leftHand="-1" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="0" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="4" sustain="0.274" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> <note time="38.306" linkNext="0" accent="0" bend="0" fret="9" hammerOn="0" harmonic="0" hopo="1" ignore="0" leftHand="-1" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="1" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="3" sustain="0.185" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> <note time="38.306" linkNext="0" accent="0" bend="0" fret="9" hammerOn="0" harmonic="0" hopo="0" ignore="0" leftHand="-1" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="0" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="4" sustain="0.185" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> <chord time="37.012" linkNext="0" accent="0" chordId="1" fretHandMute="0" highDensity="0" ignore="0" palmMute="0" hopo="0" strum="down"> <chordNote time="37.012" linkNext="0" accent="0" bend="0" fret="9" hammerOn="0" harmonic="0" hopo="0" ignore="0" leftHand="2" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="0" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="3" sustain="0.462" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> <chordNote time="37.012" linkNext="1" accent="0" bend="0" fret="9" hammerOn="0" harmonic="0" hopo="0" ignore="0" leftHand="3" mute="0" palmMute="0" pluck="-1" pullOff="0" slap="-1" slideTo="-1" string="4" sustain="0.462" tremolo="0" harmonicPinch="0" pickDirection="0" rightHand="-1" slideUnpitchTo="-1" tap="0" vibrato="0"/> </chord> I'll check out your latest posts more carefully, mrmaton and raynebc and perform your test raynebc tonight around 10pm or 11pm EST. Cheers!
  24. Hi mrmaton, I guess I am not understanding your point here about no linknext with HOPO since it is their co-existence that should make this all possible. It would seem to me like what you are trying to accomplish is exactly as per the image I posted above with the red writing annotated on it, except just that there is that pesky 2nd green note that I'd wish would disappear at the same time stamp as the hammer-on. Without linknext tech notes you get the subsequent example I posted which might as well not have HOPO but just be picked 3x as three different sustaining chords. That would be a simplification that would not sound like a HOPO. I am wondering if you are thinking that we want linknext to erase the HO and PO note heads? That is not the case. Those HO and PO note heads are essential. Linknext is only to sustain without note heads those notes played on strings that do not need to be re-picked. Again, sorry if I am am not understanding you. If I am not understanding you, can you find a way to draw/sketch/screenshot out exactly what you wish you could see in game. If you go the screenshot route can you exaggerate the sustain durations for better visibility, add a screenshot of what it looks like in EoF and use the bbcode (without the spaces I added so it would show up here) to show us what the corresponding XML looks like. Sorry for being so demanding :) it is just that I have been having trouble making heads or tails (hehehe silly pun intended) with your earlier in-game screenshots. In the meantime I was thinking of adding a "pending examples" such as this one and the one with STOP note status in the Tech Note Tutorial so as to alert of intended tech notes functionality but admittedly not quite functional yet. Your memory is correct mrmaton, the tutorial currently makes no mention of status tech notes such as stop and linknext, let alone HOPO, yet. I will add it. Like you, I am sure that what you are trying to accomplish is something many people will find useful yet which I have seen no ODLC do yet. I am curious mrmaton, what song are you creating? Is it possible to make a link to the tab you are using? Perhaps I could offer that as proof of necessity on the toolkit bug report as well as use that exact tablature in the Tech Note Tutorial for an example. Cheers!
