  1. i like the intermediate song this week. never heard that band before. i'll post a SS after i've played it a few times. no point making you guys update the scoreboard tons =)
  2. http://www.peopleblow.com/rocksmith/week23-master.png I couldn't quite beat that score so I tried this out of curiosity. That makes two songs I've finished on master gold now.
  3. The feeling you describe is why I made a point to use inverted. I want to move from RS to tabs at some point. The longer I didn't invert, the worse that starting over would have been. Short term, inverting added some frustration. But, now it looks right. You can get used to either. Just play what makes you most comfortable.
  4. So who wants to explain to the newbie how you can tell what tuning she's in by looking at that video? I mean, I can tell her hands are in entirely different places than the E used in the custom. But, I wouldn't have been able to use that to narrow down the tuning. What am I missing? Are you going purely by sound?
  5. The leaderboard is a multi-sheet spreadsheet. At the bottom, you should see a list of weeks. If you open it and don't see the current week's songs, check the bottom. If you don't see "week 23," hit the right arrow until it appears. When you click on that, it'll bring you to this week. In there, I see you as the only bass entrant for the beginner class this week.
  6. http://www.peopleblow.com/rocksmith/week23-2.png You must share your 100% magic Krazy. So close, yet so far.
  7. http://www.peopleblow.com/rocksmith/week23-1.png Made a slight improvement over the last entry. I'll need to be more consistent. I keep missing little notes here and there.
  8. http://www.peopleblow.com/rocksmith/week23.png Looks like it's my last week in beginner. Bittersweet. Smile, how are you liking the SG? Krazy, now you're just showing off =) Dude! Your guitar will still be there in a couple weeks. Don't go TOO crazy after that wreck. Get better =)
  9. I used the Rocksmith lesson to teach myself how to do it. I've got two diff guitars. One is exactly like the video. The Ibanize requires me to unscrew a few screws in the back to remove a plastic plate to feed the new strings in. My friend has a Fender that is similar to the Ibanez, but the plate has an opening specifically for the strings to fit through. When I changed strings, I went with the skinny bottom/fat top style with a 10guage smallest string. This may not work for everyone, but it's worked well for me. The smaller strings are still easy to bend and the bigger strings sustain better. My first trip to guitar center had me leaving with ~5 different types of strings. I swapped them out to find which felt best and then just kept the 10s. Just take your time. One thing I did notice: RS mentions pre-bending the strings. Don't go crazy with this. I used to. In fact, I spent enough time pre-bending that the guitar never lost the tune in the intial playing. But, the strings break in a week or two because they're already that stressed. Pre-bend them once and get back to playing. Just make sure to tune somewhat regularly your first few sessions.
  10. I think the bends issue is hitting the initial note too early. The way it appears to me: if you hit the note early on a normal note, it'll register because it's still playing. If you hit it early on a bend, you're likely already in the bend by the point it checks for the base note so it doesn't give you credit for the bend. I'm not 100% on this. Someone that's better with bends would be better input. For the 6-8 hammers, I place my index finger on the 6, pluck down, drop my ring finger onto the 8, then pick up the ring finger as i pick down again. My index finger never leaves the 6. By plucking down both times, I buy myself just enough time to handle the quick triplet of notes. If you hit the ring finger down quickly, the hammer should sound nice. Cheating to use the two down helps you get the timing.
  11. http://www.peopleblow.com/rocksmith/week22.png Collision, which part is giving you a harder time? The parts that gave me the most trouble were the quick picking orange 10-8, blue 10-9-8-6 and the bends. Me, bends, and RS just don't get along. I worked on the quick picking between playing the song just playing those 6 notes over and over a few times until it was easier to do. For the very first slide, I put my index finger over both of the high strings so the only thing I need to do is pluck the two strings and slide my fingers. It gets rid of having to move my finger up ever. Towards the end, the blue 3-5-3, orange 3. I put my index finger down over the third fret on each string and just tapped my ring finger down quick enough to handle the 5th fret. The bends, someone else will have to give you ideas to make it easier.
  12. http://imageshack.com/a/img19/5784/juiv.jpg Thanks for the encouragement @ but after another hour I don't improve much! Guess I should quit this competition until I can actually play. I guess I am too much of a beginner to compete with the "beginners" here! Don't let others doing better get you down. I haven't tried it yet this week, but I'm sure I'll be closer to you than to either of the other scores posted. What have you tried so far with this song for practice? There's lots of ways to use RS to learn a song. If the ways you've tried haven't shown progress, maybe try RR on the hardest part of the song for you and slow it down? Once you get the hardest part down, it should help your confidence so you can build up on other parts of the song quicker. Either way, there's no such thing as too new to be here. Just have fun with it. Remember, soon you'll be in the higher classes with new people frustrated that it seems to come so easily to you.
  13. We'll see how feisty I'm feeling this week. http://www.peopleblow.com/rocksmith/week21.png
  14. Dude, if you have the dedication to push past 100, don't stop at 100. =)
  15. Here's what I've noticed in score attack: The phrase starts green. After enough errors, it goes grey. From there, errors turn it yellow to warn you it's about to fail. After that, it goes red and you see the X. "Perfect" doesn't mean 100% accuracy. It's just what they call the green phrase. If all of your phrases are good enough to remain green, you'll get platinum. If any turn grey or green, you're downgraded to gold. From there, it depends on the amount of red phrases. The threshold to drop to each level appears to be based on the number of notes within the phrase. If you made a few errors in phrases that have large number of notes, you can still get the "percect" phrase. The achievements appear to be "this level, or harder." If you complete it in hard, it will give you credit for easy, medium, and hard. If you're looking to maximize achievements without going crazy going through each level, you can handle them all on hard/master and skip the easy/medium options, yet still get credit for all of them.
  16. Don't give up on this week. I'm still pretty new too. What's helped me so far is the accelerate feature. I riff repeated the chords for about an hour starting at 40. I'm still only able to keep up with them up until 70. I'm going to spend some more time with them later. Looking at your current percentage, I'm assuming that's the same area giving you a hard time. You'll get it =)
  17. This week will definitely require more work than last week :P http://www.peopleblow.com/rocksmith/week20.png
  18. Good job smile. That's some crazy dedication =)
  19. I'd imagine it'd be a bit frustrating if too many opted not to select songs. That's why I thought it might be frowned upon =)
  20. So gazing at the rules suggests I should lists songs. If I don't mind being passed over and letting others choose the songs each week, is that alright or is it something that is frowned upon? I think I'll learn more if I'm pushed out of my comfort zone. That's easier to do when I'm not choosing songs =) http://www.peopleblow.com/rocksmith/week19.png
