  1. Just a little followup. I've uninstalled CFSM (deleted all files in documents) and now my NoCable-fix works again. And the files I repaired with CFSM is also working. So that is nice, but I could be better, if those to versions could co-exist.
  2. I did... and then my NoCable-thingy stopped working. But now I uninstalled the CFSM, and now RS works (with NoCable)... and since I did "fix" the file before uninstalling, the song also works. But I must admit, that is a bit stupid way of making things work. But hey, I can practice the songs now...
  3. I'm still a bit new here, but it seems you play another version of the song (with standard tuning). Is that acceptable with the competition. I thought I was cheating big time last week, when I transcriped to another tab.
  4. I was trying the competition song (The Cult - Outlaw), and it didn't work. So I was recommended to use this CSFM to fix the song. I used the fixing thingy... and started RS from CSFM, and it couldn't find my cable. I guess it's because it uses the standard Steam file, so it quit and tried again using my "NoCableLauncher". And now this doesn't work. So now I can't play anything in the game! This is very frustrating. I didn't want to use CFSM in the first place, but now nothing works.
  5. ARGH! Sucking elf! Now my NoCableLauncher doesn't work. So now I can't play anything?! WTF! Stupid program.
  6. Wouldn't be more practical if somebody ran this program and when it's fixed put it out to us all? I must admit, that it seems rather unmanageable to figure out yet another program... I'll have a go at it, but... And who uses .rar files today... argh...
  7. I can't get the bass beginner song to work. It crashes right after I've tuned the bass. Any suggestions? There is a comment about it with the song, but the fix-link (in the comment) doesn't work (I don't understand the explanation). Instead I've begun practicing the Danish song (yes, Volbeat is a Danish band ). It's a bit tough, but when you get the idea it's playable... more or less at my level. But I've wondered about the difficulty levels for the bass path. 4, 5, and 6. Aren't they all supposed to be at the intermediate level (1-3 beginner, and so forth)? I also tried the Disturbed one... it's very disturbing. And I think much harder than Volbeat. At least 7.
  8. I'm back... had another go with the bass intermediate song. And I cheated! I cheated all I could. I rewrote the tab to use more strings (and less wanking the bass). I even changed the tuning to drop Eb (instead of drop D, since there was no D's anyway). And then i practiced (I know that is also a kind of cheating ). I got a little better... And after a few runs, I tried just for the fun of it, to play as intended. So no cheating, just to see how much better my cheating version was... Drop D and all notes on the same string... and behold. My best performance ever: So maybe it had to do with something else. Cheating did not help me, apart from analyzing and understanding the music (I guess). I don't think I can do this song any better soon.
  9. I did an okay run (but made the screenshot a bit to fast). And seemingly this is not the result of this playthrough. I feel more comfortable in the beginners league. But I must ask: What is wrong with using some of all the other strings?
  10. Thanks... But I'll try to get the accuracy a bit up higher... higher that 60% before showing (off). But for now I'm practicing my wanking bass-style. I'm not good at that... yet.
  11. I'm getting better at playing the bass, and better at finding the picture url. This song was not that hard... I even tried the "intermediate". And this time it is not that impossible (wondering why last week at the same level for both intermediate and advanced (7)). Though when playing the second, I was wondering... Why did I ever buy a bass with more than one string? And here thinking about the discussion I had about why not change strings instead of wanking the bass. But on the other hand, if the song was made using different strings, it would have been much easier, so now I have an excuse for practicing my hand movements.
  12. Yeah, I read something about using Steam for that part. But it is not easy finding the right URL for pictures there. But I succeeded. Now I just have to learn an easier way of doing it... but thanks for the answer.
  13. Succes... using a URL from Steam, but I think I have to find an easier way to do that! Oh, well... But try at the beginners peace. Trying the Twist and Shout, I must admit, that I am a beginner. But it could be nice to participate in the competition from now. About the levels of the songs (from the Bass path). It's funny that both the intermediate and advanced player should have the same difficulty (7). Also I must point out, that the Twist was complete of the bars. It was okay synced, but the notes did not (at any point) follow the small lines showing where we are on the beat. Thus making it much harder to count (and learn in slow tempo). I tried to use the R...ToTab and se the notes in MuseScore... not helping in any way. But I was not going to learn it anyway. Way over my level... From now, I'm in... on the beginners level.
  14. Why can't I upload my picture?! It's only 154kB, but it tells me, that is has to be less than 500kB?!
  15. I would recommend a simplifying of the rules... especially the part about the song list. But the quick question: Do I have to worry about the song list if I participate? I found the song list, but I makes no sense to me (I'm still new). And so many pages of listings of different kind... a little clean up? PS: Some links don't work, they miss this part ind the URL: index.php?/ (right after the ...forge.com/ ).
  16. Thank you for the answer. It kind'a makes sense. I had a feeling that people did it because they they just prefer it that way. Maybe I should just learn both things... And this quote tells about one of the downside of learning through RS. In some tracks they have brought all the small "taste" to the music, small graces and details... but we learn it in a very strict way to get 100% "perfection". In other words, we play it like notes, not living the music. The small details should appear because I have this feeling, not because I'm instructed to do so. The solution should be to find a band... Anyway, this is a great game, and a great way of learning. And fun to play with a band, that don't make mistakes (being a recording).
  17. Hi I'm a bit new to playing bass, but have played a lot of classical music before (wind instrument ). And I have noticed, that some songs do a lot of moving the hand back and forth. And I was wondering... why not just use another string? Specific I'm trying to learn Soldier Side by System of a Down. At a point I'm told (in the game) to use yellow string (tuned down to Ab) at 10th fret... the jump to 5th, 7th, 5th and back to 10th again. It's not fast, so I can manage, but it would be easier to use the "blue string" (tuned to Db) on 5th fret from the start (at this point). Then I don't have to move my hand at all... Is there a reason for moving the hand instead of using another string? It's not just this song. Hypnotize (also System of a Down (came with the game)) goes 5th, 3rd, 2nd and 0... and then 8th and 10th... back to 5, 3, 2... Can anyone explain it to me...?
  18. I just want to add another Thank You! Simple yet very important to continue practice without the computer around!
