  1. I ended up using the manual method. I figured out intuitively that the values on the left column are those shown by the game, and the values on the right column are those used by the game only for sorting, so I fixed all typos by editing the left-side fields, and all sorting issues by editing the right-side fields
  2. Uhm... actually I have a new question: does the pitch shifter have problems with bass-only customs? After the initial successes, I tried to pitch shift a large bunch of CDLCs all at once. Then I started playing them in game (with the bass), and noticed that some of them sounded off... I think the notes have been transposed correctly but the sound of the bass is actually not pitch shifted. I checked those failed ones in CFSM and the only thing that I noticed they all have in common is that they all have only the bass chart and no guitar charts. It could be just a coincidence so I will try to test more in the future, but I wonder if there is some known issue there.
  3. Ha! I should have thought of that But anyway THANKS A LOT for the tips! The pitched shifter worked like a charm
  4. I am just starting to use the CFSM, and reading through the guide I noticed the pitch shifter functionality. I like playing a lot of Thin Lizzy which are often in Eb standard, and Van Halen which are instead often in Drop D, so I am very interested in an option that would let me avoid retuning my instruments (especially painful on the guitar since it has a Floyd Rose bridge). So I have a couple of questions before attempting to use the CFSM pitch shifter... 1) I know that a pitch shifter generally distorts the sound in a not so pleasant way, how bad do you think is the case with RS pitch shifter? I can see that the guide "suggests" to use headphones, is it really that bad even with a single half-tone step down? Does it also sound just as bad with the bass? 2) There seems to be an option for turning Drop D into E standard. Given that it would be a single-string change, how is that even possible with a pitch shifter? What does the CFSM do to the CDLC in this case? 3) There is also an option called "preserve stats", by the name it sounds like not selecting this option means you lose your progress in the song? 4) On the other hand, because the guide says not to keep both versions of the CDLC if you chose "preserve stats", does it mean you can have both the original version and the pitch-shifted version in your game without conflicts? Thank you everyone!
  5. I'm sorry if I am not posting it to the best place, but none of the forums seemed really appropriate... (mods, please move this thread if you know of a better place). I've been playing RS for quite a while now, and my CDLC collection has already grown to 4 digits, so I wanted to take a little time to send huge thanks to everyone who created CDLC! You've really changed my life in a good way by giving me the opportunity to get back to practicing guitar and starting learning bass. I also want to send special thanks to my favourite bunch of CDLC authors so far, my "magificent seven" so to speak (in alphabetical order): @advocatwork @GetTheLedOut @GoatHerd @JamesPrestonUK @PC Plum @Syvaa @Tull67 Some of you may not be that actively creating content anymore, but you're the ones I am currently playing the highest number of CDLC these days
  6. Sorry for the noob question... Sometimes there are small typos in a CDLC's title, or there are songs where the artist's name includes "The" in a way that makes the CDLC appear under the letter T instead of the band's initial. These are so small issues that I really wouldn't want to bother the CDLC author with a request for a fix, but still my OCD screams out loud when I see them in my songs list . I would like to fix these myself... which is the correct tool and procedure for such small changes? Thank you!
  7. Hello, I can't help much with RS as I don't even have it yet, but perhaps I can give some hints about HEN since I've been using it since it came out a year and a half ago. We are using HEN on our PS3 for the sole purpose of playing customs with RockBand3 (we don't have any pirated game) and it's really easy. The only reason we need a hack (HEN or CFW) is because the PS3 doesn't allow you to browse folders and copy files manually to the HD: you need a File Manager for that, and since all of them are homebrew software, you need a hack to install and run them. I can't be sure RockSmith customs are as easy as RockBand3 customs. RB3 customs can use an encryption type which is the same as the one used for freely distributable files. If RockSmith customs can use the same, then all they should need is to be copied to the correct folder (no messing with RAP files should be needed). But maybe the game still needs an official DLC (Cherub Rock) to somehow starts detecting other CDLC files? If you have the original game on BluRay, by all means use that Not only it's at least questionable to use pirated software, but it also comes with hassles. The original game will certainly create the correct folders in your HD (although again it might be that Cherub Rock is needed to create more folders and files). To identify the correct target folder, keep in mind two things: - PAL and NTSC versions of games use different folders : NTSC game folders names start with "BLUS", and for PAL with "BLES", but the numeric code that follows is not the same for both - folder names are case-sensitive, the root path should be "/dev_hdd0/game/" Also, in case you're not familiar enough with HEN, you should know that you only need to ENABLE HEN when you are running homebrew software (and then don't go online while enabled). So by using the original game, you only really need to enable HEN when adding more files using the File Manager, but not when you are actually playing the game! This means you can then go online (after rebooting, to disable HEN) and play RockBand3 CDLC with friends over the internet. I can't say the same thing would work for RockSmith, but at least I haven't heard anyone being banned for RockBand3 customs, so try that at your own risk... all I'm saying is that it might be another reason to use the original game only.
  8. Hello all, I am new to RockSmith, in fact I haven't even started yet... and I already have questions First of all a small self-introduction. I am coming from RockBand3, and I've been thinking about adding RockSmith to our family musical hobbies for a while, since guitar and bass have always been the weakness of RockBand games. With Christmas approaching, now might be a good time to bring RockSmith up as a present to my kids. I am trying to decide about a couple of things... 1) First of all, I am undecided between getting RS2014 for PC or for PS3. I've read the tutorial for using customs, and it seems really easy on the PC and only a bit more complicated on the PS3, as there are tools for conversion. I am aware that the PS3 must be "jailbroken". Do RS customs need only to be COPIED to the PS3 or do they also need to be encrypted, or is necesary to mess up with "rap" files? We already have HEN on our PS3 because of RockBand3 customs, and all that is needed for them is just to copy the files under the proper folder. Is there any particular reason to prefer the PS3? 2) If I get it for PC, is it better to buy it off Steam or in DVD format? Generally speaking I prefer buying physical copies, and second-hand ones if possible. Do the RS DVD work second-hand or do they have some one-time code that binds them to an account? However, if it is necessary to buy "Cherub Rock" from Steam for customs, I might as well just buy the games from Steam as well. Does it make a difference for using customs if I get the "remastered" version, or does it need to be the basic one? 3) I understand that the "Tone Cable" is not system-specific, and actually other non-RockSmith 1/4"-USB cables works with RS. What is the general knowledge about the compatibility of other cables with RS, do you know which ones work and which ones don't? I noticed some remarks on some EU online music shop that certain 1/4"-USB cables are detected as microphones and therefore don't work in RockSmith. On the other hand there are even articles on the web suggesting that the official Tone Cable is very poor and using a generic but decent-brand cable is better. Is the official Tone Cable required for having 2 players simultaneously? 4) If I don't find a suitable cable for a while, are the other options "Microphone Mode" and no-cable patch suitable? Is it possible to have 2 simultaneous players (guitar + bass, or 2 guitars) when using these modes? Thanks!
