  1. Have you seen this thread? http://customsforge.com/topic/11766-is-there-a-way-to-easily-remove-specific-songs-from-a-psarc-archive-file/?hl=extract&do=findComment&comment=126401 It might help you achieve what you're after.
  2. Make sure that you're not squeezing the life out of the pick too. The will cause tension in the rest of your hand, wrist, and forearm. You should only be holding the pick tight enough to not drop it. But it should still wiggle around between your thumb and index finger a little bit. You can also try adjusting your posture or how you play. If you normally stand, try sitting and vice versa. You can also take a look at how and where you strum. If you're strumming too close to the bridge you may just be bending and straining your wrist too much.
  3. Just to confirm, you did purchase Cherub Rock through Steam and verified that it has downloaded into your dlc folder? You have to actually purchase it, so that it is licensed to you. You can't just download or steal it from somewhere on the internet. If you did purchase it, then there are a few ways you can force the game to make sure it is downloaded. One is to launch the game normally through Steam. The other is to open Steam, go to your library of games, and right-click on Rocksmith 2014 (don't launch it) and then select "Properties". Under the "Local Files" tab, click on "Verify Integrity of Game Cache". That will force Steam to check each file to make sure nothing is corrupted and that everything is downloaded properly. If you've done all of that, and you have Cherub Rock purchased and downloaded into your dlc folder, check to make sure that the custom(s) you're trying to use actually use Cherub Rock as their AppID. Most of them do, but a small few do not. You can tell by going to the record page here in the forum and it should be listed on the page for the song. You can also check through this thread to see if the customs you are trying to use are on the list of songs known to cause problems: http://customsforge.com/topic/4863-list-of-crashers-jammers-dead-toners-and-misc-problems/ Also, out of curiosity and so I can help you narrow down some problems, what customs are you trying to use that won't work?
  4. I try my best to help my fellow Mac users. I struggled a lot to figure out how to get everything working on Mac when I first started, so I like to try and help out others who are running into the same problems. I haven't had any luck charting on Mac, so I figure the least I can do is try my best to be the International Mac Help Desk :)
  5. As I said earlier, the files that end in "_p.psarc" are for PC, not for Mac. You need to use the Toolkit to convert them to the Mac version.
  6. Is it in the proper format? And does it show up in the song list in the game? Also, did you purchase Cherub Rock?
  7. Did you read through this tutorial? http://customsforge.com/topic/10547-how-to-add-custom-songs-on-mac/ Also, whatever you've downloaded into your dlc folder is incorrect or corrupted, as the customs (or official dlc) are not .exe or .html files. The mac customs and official dlc all end in "_m.psarc". If the customs you downloaded end in "_p.psarc" then they are PC versions, and must be converted with the Toolkit. The Toolkit can be found from the main page of this site, and there are instructions for converting in the post I linked above.
  8. Have you calibrated your guitar in Rocksmith, or tried going into the options to turn down the gain setting? Also, have you tried adjusting the input volume for the cable in the Windows settings? Usually the crackling sounds are caused by the gain being too high either in the game, or in Windows itself.
  9. I think they do with songs like Heart-Shaped Box so that if you chose to take the Rhythm path you can still play the song without switching paths. The song doesn't fit the traditional profile of a song with a lead track, since there is no complicated solo or lead riffs or fills played over a rhythm track, so it fits into both paths nicely. Since RS is a teaching tool, I think the original intention was for users to pick one path (Lead or Rhythm) and stick with it. So if you wanted to learn how to be a rhythm guitar player, you choose the rhythm path and base your learning on that path. I think that's also why the missions are doled out differently for each path. I also think that the dynamic difficulty stats are different for each path, but I can't say for sure on that one though, because I switch back and forth depending on the song and using customs also has a tendency to break DD levelling anyway. I would actually welcome seeing charters take songs that only have 1 guitar part and charting it for both paths. It would be pretty simple to do, since all you would have to do is chart it once and then copy it over to the other path. However, having said all of that.... they could have put the same guitar track into both paths because sometimes they just do weird shit with the songs. Take a look at the bonus lead for In Bloom for example. It takes out all of the power chords and just has you play the roots notes from each chord.
  10. Ummm.... I love you too, man :P Glad you got it working!
  11. Did you read through this step by step tutorial? http://customsforge.com/topic/10547-how-to-add-custom-songs-on-mac/ Was the official DLC that you purchased "Cherub Rock"? That's the dlc that most cDLC's use the AppID from. If you bought something else you need to use the Toolkit to change the AppID to match whatever official dlc that you purchased. Also, did you verify that the dlc you purchased downloaded and is in your dlc folder? Sometimes there's a delay, and it helps to run Rocksmith normally (through Steam, without RSInjector) to make sure that it loaded the official dlc.
  12. Yeah, where did you read that Phil Spencer has Steam for Xbox One? The article I read said that he used the Xbox app on Windows 10 to record gameplay from his Steam library, on Windows 10. Also, Windows 10 does not include "Xbox One" on the operating system. It includes an Xbox app, which is just a revamped version of SmartGlass. The only cool new feature is that you can stream Xbox One gameplay to your PC. But you'll still be playing the game on Xbox One and need the console to play it. You can also do cross-platform multiplayer, for games that are released both on Windows and Xbox One. http://news.xbox.com/2015/01/xbox-one-phil-spencer-unveils-new-experiences-for-xbox-one-and-windows-10-gamers http://www.gamespot.com/articles/windows-10-xbox-app-revealed/1100-6424787/
  13. I have the same preferences set up as you, with the exception of PM's. I get an email any time somebody comments on a custom that I've added to my collection. It seems like a few other users may be having the same problem: http://customsforge.com/topic/15807-ignition-ideas/ http://customsforge.com/topic/14784-bold-for-new-listings/
  14. You should be getting a notification for any custom that is updated to a new version. I've gotten notifications for all of the customs that I have in my collection that have been updated. I'm not 100% sure how it works, but I think it only sends a notification when a new version has been uploaded, and not when the original post has been edited by the charter (to add a playthrough video for example). Again though, I'm not 100% sure. I do know that any time a custom in my collection has been updated to a new version, I've gotten a notification. The other notifications, for comments, are because you automatically follow the thread for customs you've added to your collection. And, despite having turned off all email notifications, I still get emails any time a new comment has been posted. I've griped about this in a few different threads including some suggestion threads, but none of the devs have responded or commented on the issue. Hopefully the problem will get addressed at some point, because it's really annoying to constantly be getting emails because somebody said "thanks".
  15. You can already follow specific artists in Ignition, however there's no notification when a new custom is added for that artist. The closest you can get is to click on "Add to Preferred Artist" on the drop-down menu beside the song, and then you can use the filter to only show preferred artists. Since the default sort order is by date updated, anything new will be on the top of the list. You also already get a notification for updates to customs that you've added to your collection, whether they are from a preferred artist or not.
  16. RiffRepeater already sort of does that. They show links for XBL and Steam, but not for PSN. Also, for what it's worth, when I said I didn't know why the official songs in the search results link to RiffRepeater I didn't mean it as a criticism. I just meant that, other than it being a partner site, I'm not sure if there's any other motivation or connection. Although some of the pages that are linked to older DLC don't always make sense (or are no longer relevant), I don't mind the information presented for newer DLC on RiffRepeater. The linked pages have playthrough videos which are nice for figuring out whether the DLC is challenging or fun.
  17. Yeah, it's a pain. It's caused by a Steam policy that prevents users from purchasing DLC for games they don't own. However, apparently some of the original RS dlc songs have been updated or "fixed" so you can buy them without owning RS1. I'm not sure if that Rush song is one of them, so its at least worth it to try purchasing it if you really want it.
  18. That song, and all songs marked with a "*" and highlighted in red, are official DLC. They aren't customs and therefore must be purchased. I'm not sure why they have them link to RiffRepeater, other than that it's a partner site. That Rush song in particular is a Rocksmith 1 song, so if you're playing Rocksmith 2014 through Steam you will also have to purchase Rocksmith 1 in order to be able to purchase and use it (this is a bug with Steam).
  19. It's not possible at all. You would have to mod/jailbreak your console, which isn't an option for Xbox One or PS4. It is an option for Xbox 360/PS3, but Rocksmith 2014 plays better, in my opinion, on a PC or Mac. You don't need EoF to convert from PC to 360/PS3/Mac either, you just need the Custom Song Toolkit (which is available on the forum).
  20. Where did you put the .dll file? It has to go in the Rocksmith folder, not the dlc folder.
  21. Are you using a legit (purchased) version of Rocksmith 2014, through Steam? And is Steam running before you launch Rocksmith?
  22. And you bought Cherub Rock?
  23. Did you go through the tutorial? You need the .dll file or the patcher. There are two versions of the .dll file, so if you only tried one, give the other one a try. If neither .dll file works, try the patcher. You also need to buy an official DLC (Cherub Rock by the Smashing Pumpkins is the recommended one). If you bought a different official DLC then you have to use the Toolkit to change the AppID to match the DLC that you bought. And you actually have to purchase the DLC. You can't download a pirated version. The game needs an official DLC that is licensed to you.
