People are very generous at Christmas! I never even imagined getting to the point where I could play to people and they'd consistently want to throw money at me. Sometimes it feels like the music dream could be real, and maybe not so far off... Time to go catch up on sleep.

In Canada, weed in particular is a really normal thing to talk about, especially in musician's circles. Most kids know what it is, but very few of them do it. Don't do drugs, kids! That ending is crazy, even though what you're playing on guitar isn't very crazy. This is a good example of sustains that aren't charted properly. Most of these chords are very staccato - you should not hold them down nearly as long as the chart tells you to.

I agree with @@Steven Briquette as well. And while I sympathise that there isn't any real way of enforcing the rule, I still think we should have a rule on it. Technically, Rocksmith note detection will accept anything you mic up that hits the right pitches. You could play guitar with a violin, you could play bass with a trombone, and organisers would not be able to know the difference. Does that mean we have no choice but to accept violin and trombone scores? Of course not! :P

So colour me surprised when I found myself enjoying this. Fun riffs, pretty solid groove. Was seven minutes and didn't even feel stretched. Was super excited to maybe have my Int or Adv pick go up (since they're the difficulties I have the most good picks for backlogged), but it's just my fifth Beginner selection of the year. xD I don't have any ideas left for Beginner at this point! Almost two years since the last time I had an Advanced song get picked. RNG is not kind... :sob:

I'm super ok with a Gamut week for selections! :P Until this week, it feels all I've had this year is a couple Beginner picks and He Is, hahaha. I can't even remember the last time I've had an Advanced pick. Billy Talent? That was an eternity ago.

@@Rodman That's a really good amount of progress for 1000h, I don't think you should consider yourself untalented! It took me about the same to go through Beg and Int, and I had the unfair advantages of already being an expert drummer/notes-on-highways-reader from other rhythm games. I'm kind of flattered you remember those words - that was back in March, when I felt bad for winning Adv with only a half hour of effort some weeks. But it's definitely true - if you get comfortable in a place, you will plateau. Back when I classed up to MC, I felt entirely out of my realm - every single MC participant kicked my ass every week. For a month or so I even considered classing myself back down. But after about six months, that feeling inadequate every week was the fuel I needed for a spike to my skills. And now here I am managing admirable performances on songs that were an unfathomable blur to me when I came here as an Int participant on Week 50-something. I have the blessing (?) of more spare time than most people, so I get a bit of an unfair advantage in this competition. But as my long period of dozing on the Adv throne shows, having a lot of time doesn't matter at all without drive and conscious efforts to progress.

The Judas Pries solo is so close to being within my reach. Lust for Life is my favourite Heavenly track, and it's probably the custom I've put the most work into out of all of them. I keep meaning to get back into Custom Authoring and never doing it. Maybe this is a good excuse for me to finish the bass track... I've done 91% on Lust for Life before, I just have to do that Practice The Solos thing and I should be able to manage 95% by next week's end.

One of my customs got picked! Feels great, man. Heavenly is a power metal outfit from France that has some killer guitarists. If you enjoy Lust for Life, I definitely recommend checking out the album - it's about a vampire who denies his hungers for human blood and instead goes on a journey to kill the Master vampire who afflicted him and reclaim his soul. Most of the song is straightforward enough for GOG participants, but those neoclassical solos are not playable by mere mortals...

I've tried that before, but it didn't work, my post just would be posted, I remained in the editor. But I just figured out the problem. The URL for the image on the Steam server does not end in a .jpg, it's just a url with some gibberish and a "/" ending, no actual image format. So I reuploaded the image to imgur, and now it works. Thanks for the help! To get the .jpeg in the Steam image, you can right click it and click "Copy Image Address". That'll let you post without rehost!
