Don't worry abou tabs. I have the Hal Leonard Anthology with all of their songs (even the Mountain Jam is almost tabbed out fully, apart from one solo), so I can do every song released by them. I would only have to transcribe the bass myself, which should be possible for me in almost all cases. So, I'll consider your choices. Thanks for the input.

I make all the tabs for my customs available on UG anyways, but I often change things around in EoF after the initial tab is done, so it's great that I can finally incorporate those changes in an efficient manner. Thanks again, cabalistic.

Hey guys, If you haven't figured it out by now, then let me tell you that I'm an avid music collector, always looking for great obscure records from earlier periods (especially the 60's and 70's) and also ones that are rather well known but escaped my keen senses for the longest time somehow. I love all that stuff because it lets me (re)discover the roots of my favorites genres and therefore broaden my musical horizon further and further. The reason for my post however is the fact, that I've long been keeping an extended playlist of all my favorites tracks from the 60's up to the 90's in my iTunes database, primarily including obscure tracks but also quite a few "deepish" cuts from better known bands of that time frame to spice things up, and that the time has now come to share it with you all. That's why I transferred my internal playlist to 8tracks, so that everyone could have access to it and get a taste of what music I listen to and enjoy on a daily basis. Along the way I hope you will too and maybe it'll change your perspective of something that you thought you already had a firm grasp on. Thanks man. I certainly appreciate your input and will take a look at those. If I can find tabs, I'll be glad to work on some if not all of them some time. You're correct. I probably should but because of the age the audio quality of his recordings is really bad at times and he always played solo, so there's no bass and in most cases I prefer to have songs with bass for a better RS experience. Nonetheless, I can probably squeeze out at least one track, so I just have to find one that will work nicely.

Hi guys, I think it's about time that I open up another big project because… :huh: well just because I can. B) I really got into Blues lately, more so than usual, and I thought to myself: well, where's all the good stuff? There really should be more great Blues and Blues Rock in RS. So I went online looking for tabs and songbooks of artists that would fit the bill. Along the way I discovered some great new musicians and bands that I didn't even knew before, so that's certainly a plus but I also found a lot of great tabs that I can use to get some of the most epic Blues and Blues Rock songs into the game. As usual the bass is either missing or wrong but that's something I can easily fix, thankfully, but the guitar, at least in most of the song books, is tabbed very accurately and something I can rely on heavily, which I do in fact, because I am happy if I can play at least a third of those crazy licks and riffs. :cry: Well, anyway. Below there's list with all the artists and the respective tracks I want to bring into RS but of course this is not final in any way. I may change my mind anytime of the day and if any of you are interested in doing one or the other, I'll be happy to give you all the materials I have and may support you with the bass tab. I've finally finished my big transcription project, which you'll find here: http://customsforge.com/topic/6508-beggar-julias-time-trip-rs-cut/ I plan to do more Rick van der Linden related stuff, i.e. the "King Bird Suite" or the whole "White Ladies" album he recorded with Trace (who effectively became Ekseption again in their third line up). http://youtu.be/N3nKVDUfVDo I know this is all very obscure music from the 70s but I think it's fucking amazing and it's a shame that no one's ever tabbed anything from them. Rick van der Linden was pretty famous back in the day and is up there with Keith Emerson and John Lord as one of the most legendary and prolific players in rock history and bassists Cor Dekker and Jaap van Eik who played with Rick are not far behind. Anyway, this is Dutch musicianship at its best. The only other dutch band on par with Ekseption and Trace was Focus. Jan Akkerman was more or less Rick van der Linden with a guitar. :D

There were already some customs for RHPS, that's why it's not on my list. I'd rather work on other musicals instead. Not sure what though. :/ I'm quite intrigued to do something from Chicago or Book Of Mormons, so I'll probably start there. I also thought about making a single custom of the Complete Symphonic Recording of Les Miserables (3+ hours) but that would be quite some work and it would probably be bass only. Still, it would be totally awesome and like being part of the orchestra during a life performance. :D Atm I'm finishing up another big transcription project of mine which I hope to release by sunday and then there's still some other stuff to do before starting anything new. If you manage to learn making customs then I'll gladly help you out with some sheet music for the musicals on my list. Otherwise you'll have to wait a bit.

I have little experience with five string basses, but my Dad is a bassist and has been playing for 40+ years. He made the switch to five-string a few years back and says he'd never go back to four now. He likes it because the fifth string allows him to hit lower notes, play alternate tunings more easily, and stay in one position on the bass longer instead of travelling up and down the neck as much. He also likes not having to hit the open E string to get that low E note like you do on a four string. That might just be more of a benefit for him since he tries to never use an open string...says that fretted notes are easier to control and just sound better, but YMMV.sleepyI'll second that, although I don't use the low B-string as often as I probably should (because most of the songs I play in RS are intended for four strings only), but at least it gives me a resting place for my thumb, no matter where I want to fret the other strings. ;) And when I start recording my own songs again, I'll definitely make use of it.

Atm the best way to search for genres is via tags. I always tag my releases with genre info and I guess many others will too.
