  1. I've noticed recently that commas in lyrics in EoF don't show up in RS. Songs I've done in the past have the commas in them. I'm not sure if this applies to just commas or all punctuation, only noticed commas so far. Not a big deal. Just something I noticed. Thanks for all the hard work guys, much appreciated by us! Edit: Might be all punctuation: ( ) ? ! also not showing up.
  2. @@avdocatwork Whatever you're happy doing, I support you. I only play the songs you guys and I make anyways. Playing songs from the database is often a disappointment. I don't think most people even play their stuff before posting it.
  3. Just spittin' these songs out now. This one is redone from scratch. Used new tabs, tones, etc. The bass now has something to do with the song. One of my first customs, much better now. Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes v2.0 - L, L+, R, B Lead is a combo of two electric tracks. Bonus lead is just the secondary electric track (bit of dead air on this one). Rhythm is acoustic. Next: redoing Joe Walsh's Life's Been Good and taking a shot at ELO's Do Ya.
  4. @@avdocatwork I agree about UFO - Love to Love having a lot of dead air in there. There's an acoustic track that plays through most of the song and has some really critical parts as far as the overall makeup of the song. Ultimately, I would like to chart that track, but there are no accurate tabs that I can find and the acoustic can be difficult to hear over all the other noise in that song. I used Jamvox to isolate it the best I could, and it's a little easier to hear, but still far beyond my playing level to be able to chart. It sounds like there's finger picking going on. If I tried charting it note by note, I'd turn to dust before it got done with my playing skill. I'm gonna leave it the way it is for now and hope in the future I can get it done. I think the hardcore UFO fans will enjoy playing just the electric part, but more will complain, of course.
  5. @@RSBass Jingo - Great Santana song. I would agree with avdoc about using a more distorted tone for the solos. The second tone that plays through the fast chord sections has too much distortion. It should be more of that classic muted Strat blues sound. I would speed up the lead track to at least 1.5. That way the chord panes won't overlap during the fast sections. Also, the note tails on the bends should be be shortened. They can overlap the next note making it hard to see. In the intro, the first bend on the 12th fret, e string sounds like a bend and rebend, rather than two separate bends. Found these "broken" notes where bends and notes don't match. I think they just need bends added in "tech view": http://i.imgur.com/xQFkIDd.png http://i.imgur.com/lAs7nFN.png http://i.imgur.com/mr6p86g.png http://i.imgur.com/WjDnrFF.png http://i.imgur.com/wEZn4Vp.png
  6. @@avdocatwork I noticed when playing UFO - Out in the Street, RS says I miss most of the slides even when I hit them, and there's lots of slides. That's why the scores look low. I was playing the rhythm for that song and thought I was killing it, but my score ended up in the 60's. Still fun. Rainbow - Stone Cold - This is classic early 80's rock. Sounds like one of those early 80's songs that would be on a Stallone movie soundtrack, maybe when he walked into an arm wrestling match or something like that. All the charting looks really good and volumes are good. The main tone w/the Orange amp is a little hot for the softer parts of the songs like the intro and verse. That tone almost sounds like a muted, bluesy tone. The chorus, fills, and solos all have that heavier distortion sound, so they sound good. I like the Orange tone a little better than the solo/fill tone, but that's just from how it sounds on my end.
  7. @@avdocatwork Actually, a lot of the Santana stuff isn't too hard. You can actually play many of the riffs and solos because he's got a slower, bluesy style. I enjoy playing this one, even though it's a sappy love song featuring Michelle Branch. Okay, I admit it, I like the song, too. Santana - Game of Love
  8. @@jhespada Just went to the local Guitar Center yesterday as well looking for a Dean V, but no dice. They had a lower end Jackson Rhoads 2/3 V, which actually felt really nice just screwing around. Apparently, none of the Guitar Centers in Chicago has a Schenker Dean in stock. Sam Ash carries the Mustaine V and some others, but no Schenker model.
  9. @@avdocatwork If I redo an old custom, I don't even look at the original. I just start all over from the beginning. It saves me the frustration of trying to fix the shit I screwed up the first time. And it is amazing how bad the old ones are compared to what you can come up with now. I wish my guitar playing had come that far.
  10. I've got a nice program that comes with the Vox amp I just got called Jamvox. It does a really good job at isolating guitar tracks from .mp3s. It works best with singling out the rhythm guitar stuff due to the solos and higher notes being cut out because they're in the same range as the vocals. A bunch of songs I was positive I had right, were off, sometimes way off. Really helps when you've got a lot of distortion and can't tell when the individual strums are coming. I'd give you guys the verification code, but it will only allow one user, tried already. If anyone would like me to run a track they're having trouble with through it or just want to see what it sounds like, let me know. I'll record it in an .mp3 and send it back. http://www.voxamps.com/jamvox
  11. @@TheDeathryder Yeah, I'm down from three guitars to one. I need another for low strings. I can't play any Dethklok now, except for the Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle because that's in Drop D, I think. I've found spending the extra bucks to get a little better model is worth it, especially with the pickups, and if you can get it set up just the way you want. I'm trying to find the best bang for the buck in the mid-price range, which I still can't afford. I think I spend more time looking at guitars than playing them. A burnt lawn means more time in the A/C playing guitar. Everybody wins.
  12. @@TheDeathryder Thanks for the info. Nice pawn shop deal. My Epi Les Paul is similar, made in Korea and set up and inspected in US. If April showers bring May flowers, what the hell does snow, hail, and 40mph winds bring? http://i.imgur.com/vhP2BVq.jpg
  13. So, you're happy with the Quality of the Dean? Where was yours made? I think some are made in China, some in Korea, and the US (which I could never afford). Just wondering if there is a quality difference between countries. That Dimebag guitar is wicked, with some awesome screamers for pickups. I would probably poke my eye out or stab the dog with all those pointy bits, though. Dean Zelinsky, the guy who started Dean in his garage is from around here and has his own private shop where he is making beautiful custom guitars for sale only on the web. Not really the traditional heavy metal guitars Dean makes, but there pretty to look at and are very reasonably priced. You can actually walk into the shop and have a conversation with him, which is rare today. https://deanzelinsky.com/
  14. @@avdocatwork 60's is shorts, t-shirt, and windows down weather here. When I lived in L.A. and it got down into the 60's, people would wear knit hats, mittens, and big puffy ski coats. Soon it will be 90 with 95% humidity, so I won't complain. My old customs are really bad. I have a bassline on All the Young Dudes that has nothing to do with that song. I have four GP tabs, a bass tab, and a lead tab all working on the song now. It was so much easier when I didn't know what I was doing. Could always feign stupidity.
  15. Finished up another UFO tune and made a few changes on Love to Love. I'm vowing not to do any new UFO songs until I've redone some old songs that desperately need it. Going to start with Mott the Hoople and Joe Walsh then move on to old UFO. UFO - Out in the Street - L, R, B UFO - Love to Love - L, B Hope everybody has a good weekend. Might get snow here.
  16. Agree, make sure you are using a custom tone for each of your tracks. The 'default' tone will definitely freeze up Rocksmith right after tuning screen.
  17. @@jhespada The Gibson V starts out at $1300, $1650 with hotter pickups. Both Dean and Gibson made of mahogany with set mahogany neck, Grover tuners, etc. Both have same dimensions as far as I can tell. The Dean I would like is called the 2004 model. It comes with the better Schenker Lights Out pickups in neck and bridge, rather than the stock Dean pickups of the lower priced models. The Schenker 2004 model goes for $750, and the Yin-Yang model goes for $660 and is the same as the 2004 but different paint job. Both have ebony fretboard and pearl inlays. I'm not a huge fan of the Dean headstock, but what can you do. I've played the Yin-Yang at the store (they didn't have a 2004) and liked it. I know a lot of people hate playing the V, especially while sitting. I play classical style rather than on my right leg. I'm 6", 290 and playing on my leg just doesn't work for me. I blame genetics, pizza, and cheeseburgers. Anyways, the the V sits nice in classical style. When I play my Les Paul, the butt end is pushing my right leg to the right becuase I want the guitar more centered on my body, rather than sticking too far out to my left, leaving me "reaching" for those chords on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd frets, which tires your arm and hands out fast. With the V, it feels like the fretboard is right in front of me and my left arm is relaxed. And unlike the LP, playing above the 15th fret doesn't make you do origami with your left hand. You've got ultimate access to those high frets which Schenker et al. use often. Dean also had C neck which is a little fatter than the Gibson tapered D, so less hand fatigue when your fingering power chords, etc. Here's a video of Dean rep playing the Yin-Yang. Know you haven't heard any UFO, but when he starts playing Rock Bottom, I get giddy.
  18. Here's UFO's Love to Love, if anyone would like to give it a shot. I didn't chart the acoustic/clean electric rhythm track. I didn't have a good tab and often can't hear the acoustic under everything else, so I just scrapped it. But all the cool distorted guitar parts and bass are still there. Did a lot of the bass by ear, but I think it turned out pretty good. UFO - Love to Love - L & B
  19. @@avdocatwork I'd be happy with just one of those axes. Second from the right, if I had my choice. Honestly, I like the look of the Gibson Flying V much better, but you can get double the guitar from Dean for less than half the price of the Gibson, plus better pickups on the Dean. Played both SRV and Twisted Sister. Everything looks and sounds good. Finally, an SRV song I can play. Twisted Sister is just pure happiness when you hit those chords, feel like doing some Pete Townshend windmills on this one, but looks quite tiring.
  20. @@avdocatwork Sorry, been slacking. Will play Twisted Sister and SRV tomorrow. Got caught up working on more UFO. I think it's becoming a sickness. I keep looking at Schenker's signature Dean guitar on Amazon and some uncontrollable force wants me to hit "add to cart" so bad. Must resist ...
  21. Welcome @@TheDeathryder Like the Capt. Spaulding, aka the creepy avatar.
  22. Looked up the Bass Tab White Pages. Here's the songlist: http://www.halleonard.com/product/viewproduct.action?itemid=690508&lid=690508&subsiteid=7&&viewtype=songlist
  23. @@avdocatwork As far as I know, there is no way to chart the whammy. From what I remember, people were using the slides like you said in their place.
  24. @@avdocatwork Thanks, man. I figure it's something on my end. Now I have to play detective to figure this out.
