  1. @ ricky_s6ixx No worries, you're not being stupid---plenty of people have issues, and when I first started I had to think on it hard a few times too!

So, as my colleague mentioned, I have a video for Mac, here:

(Just in case that's not the one you watched.)

On Windows, you no longer need Cherub Rock, but on Mac, the system still checks the app ID of CDLC to see that they match at least one ODLC app ID; the maintainer of the Mac patch doesn't know how to get around that.

So, as he mentioned, use the RSConvert utility to replace the app IDs of all your CDLC to match an ODLC you have. There are several ways to find the app ID of an ODLC; if it's still available for download you can just check the URL, the app ID shows up there.... Example: https://store.steampowered.com/app/294990/Rocksmith_2014__Bachsmith/

Let us know if you're still stuck. Oh, also: most of the real experts are on our Discord in the #mac-os channel. If we can't help you here, they can for sure.

  2. Not sure I can help you with that, but for someone else's benefit, you might want to add a bit more information, for example, where do you have it installed? Ordinarily, the location is pretty standard. So, are you saying that it's elsewhere, or are you saying that it's in the usual place but somehow isn't being picked up....

In other words, give as much useful context as you can to help someone offer a potential practical solution.

  3. @ Sandyclawz yes, you can get the DLL alone… I saw a reference to that the other day on Discord. (Earlier in this thread there is a link to a DLL on my NAS, you can use that unless you have that souped up CPU, it requires that you have Cherub Rock as DOC or you can use CustomsForge So g Manager to change to a different ODLC. If you want it, search the thread, link starts with os5.

The Discord group has the link, to the newer one which requires no ODLC let me see whether I can dig it up for you.

  4. @ Sniper Reload3d Yeah, I just had a chat with the patch author. She wasn't aware that the PC patch had removed the need to have a DLC, and didn't know how they did it. Also, according to her anyone who bought the game 'recently' would have some ODLC so it's not a big deal....

Anyway, situation not too likely to change anytime soon, so, for your reference, on Mac the SOP is to run the CDLC through the RSConvert per the link I shared above, after applying the Sonoma patch.

Btw, I tried to DM you on Discord but for whatever reason you didn't come up. Maybe I just don't know what I'm doing... 🙂

  5. @ Finex If you go to Use CDLC at the top of the page you get a link to all the information you need.

I'm on a Mac at the moment, but check: C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Rocksmith2014 (you should see the .exe, assuming PC, and the .dll).

In any case, make sure you have your CDLC somewhere safe; you can use Steam to uninstall RS, go there, make sure it's all gone if you like, then reinstal it. Put your CDLC back if they aren't in the dlc directory of Rocksmith or a subdirectory of that.

After that, you can get the link to the CDLC Enabler in the Use CDLC explanation, and it will instal the new .dll in the right place.

  6. @ Sniper Reload3d Ok, folks, from the Discord announcement:

A breakthrough in CDLC has been released. The new version of the fix no longer requires a DLC to be purchased to play CDLC. This includes the multicore fix as well for 13900K and other high core count CPUs. You can grab the latest here https://ignition4.customsforge.com/tools/cdlcenabler Additionally, Chainbrain released a video explaining it all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67ugO3Ut4P8

The .dll is also available separately here: https://discord.com/channels/133319143339327488/288838977190887424/1176591746084393001

  7. @ zanzibarnights Two things:

    1. I assume the main change was to the DLC enabler? (which, by the way, says November 23 version, but it's only November 22 at present... unless someone did it in another time zone, maybe...) There is other outdated stuff on the first post by Izzy, like references to buying the game, etc.

    2. There was some discussion on Discord about the new enabler doing something different due to the defunct nature of Cherub Rock, but it wasn't too clear to follow. I'm wondering whether the new reality (if I understood any of it correctly) is clearly outlined somewhere?

I ask because @ Sniper Reload3d and I have been helping folk out here, and we don't want to lead anyone astray....

    Tks

  8. @ Spartacus GR77 I sent a reply last night, but somehow, it's not here. Replying from iPhone is a real pain....

In any case: as @ Sniper Reload3d says, this is a separate issue. What the .dll does (whichever version) is to match the ID of CDLC to the internal list of purchased DLCs, so as long as you have a match in there, you should be good to go.

If not, then presumably either the ID of CDLCs does not match (Cherub Rock is the default, but you can change this with CustomsForge Song Manager (see tools in the menu)), or the CDLC aren't in the right place.

Someone just a few days ago had the same issue (look up a bit) and I sent a screenshot of my PC folder structure. When he set himself up the same way, the problem went away. You might try that.
