  1. Music is a blessing. Being able to play music is divine

  2. Even thou I liked that funny porn things, I would like to give a serious answer to this issue, as it occurred also to me and got pretty bad. I always dreamed to learn to play guitar but until RS my life always pulled me away from it. (you'll see why I say this). Than, at the age of 34 I started to invest more time in guitar as music became as a soul saver for me (on some other personal issues). So I just found myself many times trying to play and at a moment I just started to feel pain in my hand and I was even unable to move my fingers properly when I stopped playing. I could not accept the idea of taking a break, so when the pain became more and more present I had to go to see a doctor. The remedy? One month of hand rest and we'll see....The moment I stepped out of his office I was thinking only to go and play, so I went to see someone else, to get a second opinion. There, I got some massages and something as an order: "you started playing at 34, your body is not so young anymore you cannot rush it into things. You need to train your muscles and you need to do that gradually. Pay attention to your body needs and he will be your friend. Otherwise you'll just end up quitting." Three months ago, my hand was swollen at the wrist. So I started to exercises...some from RS (already mentioned by Attitude) and some I did for myself to repeat things that I was unable to play comfortably in songs. Now, my hand is normal, the pain went away, there is not one day when I'm not playing and sometimes when I have time I just find myself playing for hours and my mind and concentration loses focus before my hand. So, I just laid out a story, a real event which I have experienced, but the idea is this: warm up, exercise and build your own exercises focusing on what you cannot play properly. Do it alone, to be able to allow your body to set the pace, but no matter how slow you go do it correctly and in time you'll just see that in songs your hand will respond naturally. Cheers Calin
  3. I wanted to start this topic, because I couldn't find one (by searching and scrolling around) so, if there is one just excuse my ignorance. So, my problem, which I think that many will share. I did amazing progresses with Rocksmith, and now I can play close to 100% songs that I would not even dare to dream about one year ago.... BUT.... I feel that at a point my hands are limited in speed and I have no clue how to properly improve my technique. I'm not interested in going faster than Petrucci ( :P ) but I want to improve a little bit. For example: I can play at 100% difficulty the Iron Maiden pack except the solos where I'm absolutely overwhelmed. I practice each day as much as I can, but I could use some guidance, and hopefully if one of you which do those amazing play-through videos would be kind to put in some ideas, thoughts and recommendations, many beginners from the RS community will be more than happy. So thanks and I really hope that this thread will help many in becoming better guitar players. Calin
  4. I know that nowadays DD is under a big debate being either good or bad, but for people like me going directly to the full version of songs like this is way too much. I'd love to be able to play without, but I still need a few years of experience (which I will gain in time). I'm working on phrases, I'm maximizing the levels where I can (manually), but there are solos which cannot be played (at my current level of practice). I envy all of you guys which state that DD is useless, because it means that you can play the songs almost as lead guitarists in bands.\ But, as many more before me stated, the first RS brought me in front of my (newly bought) electric guitar for the first time. How could I have learned to play without DD? I think that in RS the most amazing and motivating thing is that you can actually play and feel that you are part of the band, of the song and when you know the song and you don't play it with full notes then you always want to improve and you'll do it. I have gained a lot of experience since my first song played, but I still cannot manage the hard solos without DD. When i try a new song I play it once how it is to get familiar with the music. Then, I check it in the riff repeater and I try to maximize all that I can and resume playing. There are many songs which I can play now >90% with all maximized levels but I still need a lot of practice and learning to do (and sadly I also have to work :P so my guitar practice hours are limited). So, for all of you which are so good that you can create amazing CDLC please add the DD to allow newbies to taste the experience and the feeling of playing the song without the frustration of seeing tens of notes rushing.... Remember one thing: everyone which wants DD would gladly trade this for the capability of playing without it. Regarding the repeating of phrases in RR, you can do it up to a point. Me, as a Pink Floyd fan, I dream about playing Comfortably Numb. I studied it in RS1 (when I was a real newb) and here also. Now, I can do the first solo with maybe 2-3 missed notes but the second still troubles me. I've been practicing these solos in RR for many hours, and this is only one song and I still cannot master it. Just imagine a normal person, which can dedicate 1 hour per day for playing guitar, to get stuck for 20 hours (3 weeks) with just one song in RR. The fun to play goes away. So I vote yes for DD but I hope that I will master my guitar technique to be able to play without DD one day. Calin
  5. I kindly thank all of you for you for your ideas and recommendations. I've drawn some ideas from all your posts and I will act accordingly. :) Cheers
  6. Thanks Olorin. So regarding the diameter of the strings, its all about personal comfort? I was told that thinner strings are for beginners and after some time and practice one should try thicker ones. I'll try to practice the bends more and see if not my hand is really the issue here :)
  7. I have three at the moment. 2 Electric guitars: 1 Fender Stratocaster - which I play with daily on Rocksmith 1 Cheap Squire Bullet Strat - which I use to practice only, to improve my technique 1 Acoustic guitar: A 40 years old guitar which I got from my uncle (produced in Romania) and which has an amazing sound due to the age of the wood When I'll feel that my talent deserve more I'll buy another one to add to my collection Cheers everyone
  8. Hello everyone. I found a way to manage my time in a way to put a constant effort in my guitar play, of course, with Rocksmith. I have a Fender Stratocaster and I'm using (recommended in the guitar shop) Fender strings 250L Light (nickel-plated steel). While I still consider myself a beginner I saw some improvements in my guitar play but sometimes it feels that these strings are not the best, especially for bends. So I have two questions. How often do you need to change the strings? Should I change my strings with some other model? Thanks everyone Calin
  9. hehe did it. This email confirms that you have donated Mark Beeson $25.00 USD using PayPal. Currency Conversion: L86.75 RON = $25.00 USD
  10. Hi there The customs I found here are all awesome and even though I'm not a good player I really enjoy working on them. I wanted to donate some more money but I do not have a paypal account. Earlier there were additional payment methods which I cannot find atm. Please let me know how can I send the money in another way? I would donate around 20 Eur (25 USD - sorry I cannot give more but the wages in Romania s**k) and I would also agree to send them directly to the admin or anybody else, officially in charge with the Customsforge site. Please let me know and I'll comply :) Cheers and keep up the wonderful job you guys are doing
  11. One more solution. Check your download folder (maybe you had a default one, or one you have specified) and there you should have the files before moving them into dlc folder in Rocksmith....If you didn't, I highly recommend that you do now such a folder. I always keep a copy of the files as you can have total control on them and you are always able to make changes in the game without losing everything. Cheers and good luck
  12. Hmmm, this idea about blocking the bridge is really interesting. I will give it a try. Well, about getting on a stage ... I never dream about it, but to be able to do a great solo would be really great (I would really love to manage one day the ones in Comfortably Numb) I never thought that this construction of the guitar could lead to such a mess in tuning it. Thank you everyone :)
  13. Hello everyone. I have a small problem with my guitar. I have a Fender Stratocaster with Fender 250L strings. It's the one made is Mexico (unfortunately I cannot afford the US ones), and when I retune my guitar, I have to do it several times until the new tuning is right, so switching from one tuning to another is very very annoying. Maybe the strings are not the best but as I am a novice I just went in the shop and asked the people in there to recommend me the best ones. So, everyone has the same problem, should I try to use first an external tuner of is there an autotuning option in Rocksmith so that I do not have to retune the strings? This makes it almost impossible for me to try and play songs with other tunings and every time I switch I spent an awful lot of time to adjust the strings properly. Thank you in advance, looking forward for positive advice :) Calin
  14. Well guys, thank you all. As I am learning and thinking (reading) what you all said I incline to consider everything to be true. Yeah, sometimes when the DD level changes you have to rethink everything, hand position and so on. I always used the Riff Repeater but not with the speed, settings but as I think about this, you seem to be right and this option seems to be a lot better. I'll give it a try. Many thanks. Calin
  15. Hi there I'm one of the guys who discovered the pleasure of learning to play the guitar later when the job and family really limits the time... Now for the question: Can I add in any way Dynamic Difficulty to the CDLC that don't have it? I really want to play some songs but in full it is much too hard and with all those notes coming I have no chance in learning the song.... Thanks and I hope I'll get a positive answer Cheers, Calin
  16. Sent 20$ away earlier today. I will try to make a habbit out of this, as the thinks (mainly songs) that can be found here are priceless. Hoppefully in the summer I will have more time to learn to play.
