My advice would be to ALWAYS set the levels so that you can hear yourself, and use a tone that you can differentiate from the recording. When you can hear yourself it builds up different parts of the nervous system (like the speech/language part of the brain), instead of just hand-eye coordination and reflex. DISCLAIMER: I'm not a neurologist, it's just stuff I read that correlates well with my experience. What I do is I use a custom tone that cuts well through most mixes, so I can hear myself 90% of the time without fiddling with the settings. ymmv

From what I gather learn a song scores where always allowed. At least since I've been here (Week 412). It's explicitly mentioned in the rules.

After slowing it down it turns out that the solo part of the chart bears little relation to the notes you hear. I'm not saying we should switch it out or anything, just be aware.

Well, it looks like the rhythm part has the harder solo. Sorry I didn't mention that in the selection list notes, must've missed it somehow. It might be prudent to switch 'em around.

Final guitar sight-read of the week, since (obviously) I already played the mc track before. I must've caught some kind of brain disease, because I can see myself making mistakes that I know I wouldn't make normally. Hopefully it'll pass soon, I want to win this year. Well, this song totally not my style of playing, and I don't have the patience to RR it, so this is it. Maybe I can give it a couple of tries tomorrow, but I don't expect much improvement.

More suckage: The weird open string double stops should've been charted as normal power chords. It'd be way more fun that way, also easier I think.

Bring it, and let most persistent win! Well, it's a longer story. I had a much grander idea, of which the OCR was just a part. The web scraper part seemed kinda trivial so I focused mostly on other stuff. I you want I can write you a python script for scraping by the end of next week (I think). The forum looks kinda machine readable as is to me. I'm curious about what you have in mind, but let's move this discussion to the DMs or a new thread or something so we don't spam this thread.
