ah that blows, you used to be able to  windows R and record rocksmith thats how i did the majority of my playthroughs on yt.

so if your phone doesnt pick up good by your speaker, although it should, just connect the rocksmith cable and set it up in audacity here:

you wont be getting the rocksmith tones so dont have rocksmith open, but you will get a decent clean signal.

Also if you arent getting a signal with the rocksmith cable might be that you need to play around with your cable/ move it around  (atleast that happened to me)

make sure when you record an play you dont go red or the audio file will distort and be squarish like the one in the pic (unless thaats what you are going for)

i also opened up bandlab which might be more userfriendly than reaper or audacity just to get a feel for a daw

it has its own library of instruments (albeit not the best) but it might be an easier stepping zone). You can use it with your phone aswell which is pretty neat. And it has its own walkthrough simple tutorial of the software

Since it is its own software the limitation is you can only use their synths and vsts. Which is why reaper or another daw would be more suitable but once you learn one daw most daws become a bit similar (they all have their own advantage/disavantage).

Maybe i am overwhelming you with options xD but yea just not a fan of audacity (although it does have its uses just like any software). I personally use ableton which there is a free trial...however it does cost alot so i wouldnt reccomend it. fl studio offers free time updates which is good. anyways going off topic just pick a daw and stick with it

When I try to use Audacity (it detects the Rocksmith USB guitar as a microphone) to record and Rocksmith is running I get error (only if Rocksmith is running): -9985 Device unavailable

 

I found this configuration in Rocksmith (so it wasn't a problem with updates, permissions on the microphone or other configurations):

 

I still have the problem in Audacity, but Windows recording now works 🥳

Right, as far as i am aware of, with audacity or any daw you wont be able to record Rocksmiths audio. (hence you are getting the error because you can only use it with one daw or only rocksmith not both at the same time.

The cable and daw is just so you dont have to buy an interface to record your guitar outside of rocksmith for your own song /a cover.

By windows working do you mean you can record a video with audio? If so, some daws allow you to import a video to the daw. Else you can always just use vlc (a free software similar to itunes) and convert the mp4 to mp3 and use it in a daw...or just use the mp4 in like clip champ (the video software editor that comes with windows 11)  and paste the original audio

Just depends how much you want to change the song or add to the cover ig? unless im understanding the word cover wrong.

@ drand  Really good scores, congrats! It would be hard for me to achieve more, and one chord transition in the rhythm is almost at an advanced level.

I know that says "Championship" in the title @ drand  but using a glue? THAT"S A DOPING! I request to disqualify @ drand ! 🤣  I remember back in the days I start playing RS I also used something to protect my fingers. But now I can't say what it was. Like sewing strings maybe or duck tape.

I think I done with the song, I feel it's getting a little better but I'm tired. I know myself and my hands and I will not try to get higher. It will a lie because I can't play it as good as numbers says. And I will let lead path untouched now. Let it stay as it is.

Here's the championship' magic. I would never play this song. But I passed through all the stages from rage and depression to acceptance. Today I really enjoyed it even with misses and broken streaks.
