I'm sitting trying to figure out the solo as we speak.  I'm trying to just an Am pentatonic scale, but for some reason it just doesn't sound right some times!  I'm afraid I am not rocking "Rockin Around the Christmas Tree."

The key is D major!!!!

If you'go pentatonic you can go Dmaj or Bmin !!!!

I think I grabbed my tabs from the Rocksmith version, so I think it is in C.  This is the scale I found worked

 

This is good for me to learn, but man I feel like I'm beating my head against the wall.

@Rodman Ok, Now that I got something resembling a solo figured out, here is my effort.  This was harder than I thought it was going to be!  I ended up playing Let it Snow with my son on bass for our family Zoom get together, then Good King Wenceslas with my daughter on violin.  I love these times, though I fear they are fleeting.
