  1. The Secret Agent Man has recovered from the neck extension surgery of a few weeks past.  Now it is up to me to adjust to the Bass VI configuration (30" scale, 6 string spacing, E-e tuning one octave below standard).  My playing has felt like a two week long train wreck, but I'm just getting the hang of it.

    Heartbreaker on bass > 99%

As for The Scream. gNat has it at school for music class.

  2. The Scream has the new neck installed and the set-up had been done.  It's ready for gNat to take it to school.

I'd like some Championship player opinions on Secret Agent Man.  The old neck had an overhang over the body at the heel.  The new neck does not, leaving an unsightly gap between pickguard and neck.  What should I do?

    1) hide it with something black

    2) cover the gap with a contrasting shiny thing

    3) replace the pickguard with another 45 (e.g. Louie Louie)

    4) make a larger pickguard out of a suitable LP (e.g. The Surfaris - Wipe Out)

    5) leave it

    Edit

    6) laminate the old 45 on top of a black LP and re-cut to match the neck heel B)

  3. @@2groggy - goddammit, cool!

Aren´t the necks a lil close to each other? Enough space to use the whole scale?

And - you use 2 sixstringnecks - what is the use gonna be - different tunings?

Maybe the pic gives you the wrong impression.  The 25.5" scale necks get removed,  The 30.35" scale necks go in the same neck pocket with little or no carpentry.  The string gauges, e to E, are 0.024" to 0.084".

C'mon people, what am I building?

    Edit - Hint

  4. Scene: FreeBird Police Headquarters - two portly officers sit in a dull room eating stale donuts

Rookie FBP Officer: Things have been really calm and restful here recently.  All the rock 'n rollers are behaving like good little rock 'n rollers.  Aren't you glad that that wonky FreeBird 2Groggy hasn't been around much?

Old FBP Officer: DON'T SAY THAT NAME OUT LOUD!

    Rookie: What?? 2Groggy ??? Don't be superstitious.  2Groggy, 2Groggy, 2Groggy!

    Old Fat FBP Officer: NOOOOOOOOO!

Meanwhile, in the sub-terrainian FreeBird workshop, 2Groggy and his minion gNat have meticulously assembled the required parts to give their respective garden variety partscasters "Secret Agent Man" and "The Scream", insidiously excruciating neck extensions.  What are they building?

,,, but I won't go back and clean up the few misses because I want to focus on Intervals for the rest of the week.  Keep an eye out for FreeBird droppings in the Masterclass Bass club house and watch where you step. ;)

  6.

It’s a bit unfortunate that I won’t get any scores this week as I have been sent to Portland Oregon at very short notice.

Hopefully I’ll get back on Saturday to get a quick go but I doubt it :-(

Jet lagged and pissed off but found a bar.

Next time you travel, try to stay at a Hard Rock they will lend you a guitar and an amp. Take your laptop with RS and some headphones and you'll never miss a beat.

    Two words... travel bass
