  1. You're welcome.

While I was at it, I added 2 tracks by The Beat.  How T.F. did I miss them?  I had The English Beat, but not The Beat. (Same band, different name in North America for legal reasons).  I guess that that tells you where I'm from.

Edit - Added several UB40 tracks

  2. Being a FreeBird,  The recycling of week 250 isn't a big deal.  If I like a week's song selection, I make submissions.  If you notice my absence, the selected songs are probably not to my personal taste.

I will use this week as an opportunity try out a more guitar like finger picking style.  I normally use the floating thumb technique, where the thumb rests on the next lower pitch unplucked string and pluck with my index and middle fingers.  I'm going to try plucking with thumb and two fingers to see how that works for me.  I'll have to dust off the exercises and post any resulting train wreck.

  3. Yes. The jump from A3, D3, G5 to G10 when you can do E8, A8, D10 to G10. There are a few other (to me) nonsensical fingerings that I would adjust if I were allowed to do so (open strings when a 5th fret would be easier, for example). It doesn't change anything to the note that is played, but make the chart easier to play. To be honest, I could have just recharted it and not said anything, but that's not my style. :)

Whenever I post about "transcribing on the fly", I really mean playing my preferred fingerings with the same notes, but not adjusting the charts.  I did this all the time, even before building the Bass VI.  So I don't even bother recharting it.

  4. Still Take Yo Home on bass 100%

I might not get a try on Gods of Whatever this week because I am rebuilding my headless 34" scale bass into a headless bass VI.  It will be tuned to D standard, so that with a Capo on the second fret, it will have the same scale and tuning as a "normal" bass VI.  Whenever a song needs me to downtune to Eb or D, I will just move the capo.

  5. After a few passes in RR, I scored 99.2% on bass on Du Nich.  Unfortunately, the screen shot didn't upload to Steam properly, so no link.  Rather than just play the track again and take another screen shot, I choose to blame the FreeBird Police and vow revenge.  The FreeBirds have been complacent for too long.

So thus follows, my diabolical plan:  The weapons at my disposal are my "Secret Agent Man" bass-VI, tuned EADGCF, one octave below guitar tuning, and the DLC for Gangsters, which I have played on bass about 168 times. I played it today for yet another 100%.  Hint to beginners - this track is trickier than it looks because most of the bass is played behind the beat.

Now I bet that you are all asking yourselves, "OMG, will he play it in Master Mode?". NOOOO! far too predictable!

This week, I will play the guitar part above the 12th fret on the Secret Agent Man.  The plan is still in need of a few last details - Will I capo the 12th fret?  Will I tune to EADGBE??  Why???  Stay tuned for updates.
