An uptick on Beatles SLY Bass
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=402268483
98.72% Accuracy
181 Note streak
I'll put some more work into it tomorrow. Time for a little break and then train-wreck time (i.e Eat The Rich)

It's a start
Now my Aerosmith Bass sounds like a train wreck. There are a lot of open Es to give me a chance at keeping up. But there are a bunch on sections where I'm lucky to get every second note. The decode algorithm for base must be overly forgiving.

I always seem to miss one note or another, or at least RS thinks so. And I've been spending all of the song looking at my fingers anyway, so I tried it in master mode. It took a few tries, but I worked my way up to every note except one. It least I'm consistent.
Master Mode, 99.45% accuracy, longest streak = 192

BTW, off topic newb question...how do I include photos from my hard disk in a post?
Edit - I uploaded it to Steam as an "artwork". Is there a more direct approach?

Working on Left Hands Free. After an hour yesterday and an hour today...

My bass really doesn't like Devin Townsend...

Join the club! My bass just doesn't like the tuning - nothing against the artist.

So I RR'd Life a few times, then gave it a shot in SA. The score was overly forgiving. Even if the down-tuned strings weren't flopping against the fingerboard, I just can't keep even timing on loooooong strings of eighth notes. I guess that if the string and fret are correct, and the first and last notes are in time, the rest of the mush between them is good enough tor the decode algorithm. I do need to work on my streams of 8th notes. I'll just do in on songs in standard (or less unstandard) tuning.
Take this with a grain of salt but accuracy = 97.61%, longest streak = 142

I've already tuned back to standard to start working on Left Hand's Free

Thanks @@MilkmanDan. I'll just do the best I can with what I have today and then work on the advanced song over the rest of the week.

I'm not used to the CGCG bass tuning in Life. The low C string is constantly flapping around against the frets. I really don't want to tinker with the truss rod or raise the action for one song. What changes to my technique can I do to improve on this song?

It may look like I've only played the song 4 times, but RS locked a couple of times and this song lost the history. I had both v1.3 and v1.4 in the DLC folder. I've since deleted the older version and it didn't lock this time. I also ran through the song lots or times at 90% speed in RR, which doesn't show in the count.
BTW, is there some setting in Score Attack that adjusts the tolerance to errors? I thought that I had one or two of flubs in the song and still scored 100%.
I still won't play Canon Rock. As brilliant as the guitar playing is, it just seems so self-indulgent that it would actually repel members of the opposite sex. :P

Newb wants to play too.
I've only been playing RS for just over a year, and bass for only half of that. I've been working on Stir It Up for a few weeks, so I might have to jump up a level from beginner

Welcome aboard and that's a hell of a first entry! 100% Master Mode B) /stylin'
Thanks. I've been working on that song anyways so I had a head start. I think I'm going to jump to Exo Politics because Canon Rock is just "not to my liking" (meaning "I just can't stand it" but personal taste is entirely personal). I'll decide on whether to focus on intermediate or advanced next week.

There are a few websites that help guitar builders
www.tdpri.com has a section called "home depot"
www.talkbass.com has "luthiers' corner"
and www.projectguitar.com is all about building
If you search around those sites, you can probably download standard plans for Telecasters, Strats and many other shapes. Ignore the outlines, but use the rest of the dimensions for neck pocket, pick-up cavities, electronics cavities, etc.

I built this from kit parts. The kit had everything except the body and pick guard. I had a nice piece of wood around but it took some creative cutting. The only shape that would fit was a cross between a Tele and a Jag.

I had to improvise a pick guard, so I sacrificed and old 45.
I've only been playing the bass for the last several months. I don't like the body that I made. I'll make another body before I post a picture of it.
