Once again I'm out. Beginner song too difficult for me on lead and has no rhythm section. Think I might be out for good this time, don't think I'm cut out for guitar. Good luck guys.
-
D standard tuning for the beginner song again! Are there no beginner songs in E standard anymore? Looks like I'm giving it a miss this week.
-
@ It's not a bad song, but the lack of sections makes it hard to learn the parts you are not getting right. I've played it half a dozen times and I got a pretty good score but I don't want to play through the whole song at 70 or 80% speed just to nail it! http://s2.postimg.org/5ft3nvsyh/rocksmith.jpg I wont make a new suggestion for a song because I'm a beginner. I think it would be more beneficial if intermediate or advanced players suggested the songs for beginners :)
-
Yes, no sections in the beginner song, you have to RR the whole song :( (I agree about the tone also).
-
My first time out of beginner section, I would of liked to make it past 90% but the cold beers on a warm night might prevent that :) http://s14.postimg.org/gmkp7nu9d/rocksmith1.jpg

@@Smile Get well soon too my friend...I wondered where you were this week :) @ take it easy for a while and allow your body to repair itself! I took your advice and have been trying intermediate this week but it isn't going well :( If I achieve over 85% I will post a score :)

Once again beginner song is not for me this week for 2 reasons: 1. D Standard Tuning. You can't do anything else in Rocksmith without tuning back to E. I (like most beginners probably) only have 1 guitar and constantly retuning is a real pain.2. I've played through the lead and rhythm a couple of times and I already hate this song :)Suppose I better post my score for the week because I don't want to come back to this song. http://s29.postimg.org/rnrd4mcqv/rocksmith1.jpg I know...if I put as much effort in to playing as I did to complaining I would be in masterclass by now :)
-
Very difficult song for me this one, I had to try rhythm this week. http://s29.postimg.org/4dwlbussn/rocksmith1.jpg
-
Is this really a beginner song or do I have no hope with guitar? Nobody else has posted a score! Maybe I should have stuck to power chords :) Lead http://s30.postimg.org/my58vidwh/rocksmith.jpg Rhythm http://s27.postimg.org/dbeidd283/rocksmith1.jpg
-
I'm not going to learn anything new as a beginner with another week of power chords, I got to 98% doing that last week (even though the leaderboard wasn't updated :) ) I'll try and find something I like to play for this week :)
-
@@Smile If I can get out of going shopping I might be able to have another try tomorrow :) @ I do that finger stretch right after those harmonics too,I guess rocksmith isn't detecting mine or I'd be on 100% too ;)
-
Some good scores for beginners song, I'm getting there :) My fingers are cramping up really fast tonight, probably because I haven't played for a few days! http://s7.postimg.org/q0grcvv57/rocksmith.jpg

You guys in the beginner section better slow down lol....I'm working till 10pm every night this week so doubt I can contribute much. It's looking like I'll have to make 100% on Saturday to keep up :D
-
A little improvement on percentage but not getting a good streak like yesterday (maybe that was down to the beer lol). I only realised tonight that the notes on the 5th and 7th fret on d and g string are harmonics, I'd never came across these before, something new to learn! http://s23.postimg.org/52m11s8nf/rocksmith.jpg @@diddie17 It's good to know that I'm not the only old fart on here trying to learn :) It's all about fun at our age right, we've already done all the hard work ;) @@Smile Nice video, how did you record that? You play really smooth, I would like to record myself playing to see how I look...I think I am a lot more tense!
-
@@diddie17 I've only played for 4 months so I really am a beginner. At 43 years old I think I have lost most of the dexterity in my left hand which is why I prefer songs without solos :) Doubt I could give you any tips :) @ I always keep playing previous weeks songs, I've had 100% on working class hero and today I got 43 streak on Sgt Pepper but when I look at intermediate songs they always look far too difficult for me! One week I might take the armbands off and jump in the deep end :)
-
I know I'm usually the first person to spit the dummy because the beginners songs are too hard :) .... but after a few plays I actually believe this week I could get 100% (work permitting). http://s29.postimg.org/u10knrlp3/rocksmith.jpg And before anybody suggests it, no I won't be trying The Wind Cries Mary. My fingers will not go that fast :)

I decided to follow this guide from http://www.justinguitar.com in the end. Seemed to make sense and was very easy to follow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgVAhI8PqPU

@@Collision - So close though! Come on, you can do it  Which bit are you struggling with? It's the last 4 notes on the e string that get me every time! I've managed a 41 streak a few times today but those bends just don't register for me :) @ I've heard enough of this song to last me a lifetime, I don't want to try learning the rhythm section on it :) Maybe next week I'll try rhythm section also.

90th play through this song and still can't put it all together...maybe by Friday!!! http://imageshack.com/a/img811/4240/qad6.jpg

I'm about to re-string my guitar for the first time and as a beginner I was going to follow the video that is in Rocksmith 2014. However, after looking on youtube there seems to be more than one way to re-string a guitar! So my question is how do you do yours? If possible an instructional video would be welcomed :) Thanks.
-
Maybe if I re-string it wrong my playing would sound a whole lot better :D I was going to follow the guide in Rocksmith 2014, or is there a better way? After a quick look on youtube there are loads of videos showing different ways which makes it more confusing lol. Think I'll start a new topic about this and see what the general consensus is.
-
Finally cracked the 90% mark, might make it to 100% by the weekend !!! Going to change the strings on my guitar tomorrow as it still has the original ones that came with it and they don't look too good :) Will be my first attempt at changing strings so I might not get to post another score this week :D http://imageshack.com/a/img822/6976/bi4k.jpg

@@diddie17 don't be sorry for finding it easy, I hope to find it easy by the end of the week :) @@natasftw thanks for the tips, I'll definitely take them on board. I also have a problem with bends and RS, when I'm in RR it only registers maybe 1/4 bend even though I'm close to snapping the string! Any tips for the 8-6 hammer ons on the B string part welcomed :) @ "Leaderboard Updated" I hope this score is high enough to go on the leader board seeing as my previous attempts weren't logged ;) http://imageshack.com/a/img713/2548/5m55.jpg

http://imageshack.com/a/img19/5784/juiv.jpg Thanks for the encouragement @ but after another hour I don't improve much! Guess I should quit this competition until I can actually play. I guess I am too much of a beginner to compete with the "beginners" here!

Well that's it....I'm off to buy a tambourine!
