  1.

No extra load on he mods when we go 4 classes / 2 weeks

Personally I find the competition to be fantastic, when I'm busy or tired I just play RS like Rock Band, pick a song, play it, move on to another song. I never really concentrate on learning properly and as such my skills probably suffer for it.

The competition gives me a goal, a song to concentrate on for a good reason, thus improving my ability to learn and my accuracy and clarity. Making customs is also a good way to learn too. When you're looking at the same notes for hours it really drills it into you.

Same situation here - gives me a so needed goal to improve on one or two specific given songs .

For me the extra week would be a clear benefit to push the score and my skills further instead of starting over again.

  2. +1 both votes...

    - 2 weeks:

Oh i wish i was back @ university or school :) - just wait till you got a time consuming job, family with 2 kids and then you look back and compare the spare time for hobbies ;)

For me, and i am a bloody beginner one week is quite unsatifying most of the time. Though having stopped all other activities aside and thus getting 60-90 mins 3-4 times a week aint enough to master my classes song, absolutely no time to really learn the next classes song.

And i think i am not alone...

I have checked the leaderboard from the beginnings yesterday and if you look back only a few months lets say to week 15 about all the competitors have left (!) - so why is it. Not enough challenge? - probably not! No motivation - i dont think so... I fear it´s the no time to get it done in a proper way situation which could be solved by doubling the time.

Right now 2nd week ´tallica still heavy competition going on.

For the question if any class should be held for 2 weeks or only mc - from a beginners pov i gotta say who is gonna need more time to get their song straight and make it sound good (even on a real amp (which you should)) a master or a beginner, besides and for me that is really important - if there was more time we would have the opportunity to play a bit of our purchased DLC and all the other gr8 songs we wanna learn...

For the argument you might be stuck in a song you hate for 2 weeks - well 4 classes will give you like always a second song at least playable for your suitings...

    - 4 classes:

From a beginners pov who will most probably never reach mc 2 classes in between would be wonderful - if there is enough competition!

    - more players:

...does not mean we have to do massive propaganda, players are joining every week. What is needed to be done is keep them competing by as stated above maybe giving them more time, and i really think the badges in the avatar region Joey was talking about to the board admins would be a huge motivation - showing gold, silver, bronce for each class/arangement for the reigning champs.

@Motive@Mortalo maybe you could ask again if there is a chance to get those... besides the motivation would be an excellent advertisment for the contest to every active forum member.

  3. For me moving from Black Sheep to Aids & Armageddon (beginner to intermediate) the difficulty increase was noticeable but not unrealistic and probably at the right level to push my skills farther so if there a class between Intermediate and Masterclass I think it would solve the huge gap and cause a more natural progression.

I think 5 classes would be unrealistic and would cause fragmentation but would 4 but a huge problem? Something to think about definitely.

Right - there is probaly no need and space for a class between beg and int, i rather thought about a class between int and mc and maybe an additional "insane" or for the Quake people amongst us "nightmare" class for the cracy guys aroud getting 97%+ on their first tries on mc songs...

@@MaZtoR Yes, song harder than it seemed. I every evening play lead more 3 hours and have very slow improve, above 90% and more. The  song between MC and Intermediate class.

See I've been thinking about that myself, it's a shame we don't have more players because three classes really is a bit too restrictive. Maybe Bachsmith will cause a classical custom revolution which makes loads of players come to Customsforge :)

Totally agreed, 5 Classes would surely be wonderful but as long as we don´t have at least 10 active players in each class per week that would be rather counterproductive...

So what we have to do is spread the word, gather some competitors

  5. i don't get why you say that it is a pitty that Ubisoft is in charge of Publishing and Promotion of this game, when i've seen the conference about their new Dance game at E3 i thought it was really cool and almost make me wanna buy the game while other casual game presented at E3 wasn't that well showed to the public.

I would really love to know what are the signs that indicate that this IP is going against the wall, looking how good they do with AC or Rayman to make live those IP through time compared to other game publishers i don't really see on what you base yourself to say that this one will go down at the moment.

Even though i have to admit that any IP at one point will always go down even for a short period of time but Ubisoft doesn't seems like a publisher that just stop something while their is a lot of potential behind.

Thx for the reply, the slight signs they might not be pushing this series too much for me is that first there is about no Advertising for RS in europe which is really strange

    - german Amazon Ranking in Games atm steam #449, PS3 #1424 XBox #1148

and second the official Statements for a Sequel are that there is no Sequel planed atm, they are gonna concentrate on DLC for the title ...

Does anyone know if there is any Promotion in asia?

  6. Well, i think there are at least 2 reasons they HAD TO PROMOTE IT AS A GAME, not a musicians tool...

First the Gamers market is a huge one, the guitarist market is close to non existent when it comes to "search for expensive Software that makes me better", besides there are a lot of tools that promise that.

Second gamers like to game and are willing to donate their time into practise. Close to everyone knows someone with a guitar and if you are a Rockband/Guitar Hero gamer and see the first time how well the recognition of RS works you are in... As a matter of fact i showed RS to a close friend of mine (massive PC and PS3 gamer) - after trying his first song he told me to order a guitar of my choice rightaway for him :) and he is playing at least an hour a day for 2 months now....

I for myself am extremely happy to have stumbled over RS for it made me pick up my go Gibson SG after 10 years again :) and i am spreading the word...

I hate to have to say it but it´s a true pitty it´s Ubisoft for the Publishing and Promotion... and there are signs this one is gonna be driven agaist the wall, too ( though unthinkable at the Moment regarding the sell and dlc numbers )...

How ever it may be - we have that great Piece of Software in the curent state and if it is not gonna be "improved" by more Features like Drum/Keyboard/Vocal Support or at least local 4Player MP, Online MP - so be it, most of us guitarists wont give a damn.
