@diceslinger- oh my... what a challenge. After your last week vid of course i had to go for vocals and guitar at the same time. Warning: not a singer, never sang my whole life, just talkin my way through the song. It might hurt a bit. I must say it didn´t go bad with the coordination playing and vocals but that lifts the thing on another diff level. As i try to really learn and memorize the songs, the vocals are somehow needed anyway. Let´s see how often i´ll make use of that in the future.... However for the arrangement. First i produced a Trio+ track played along and recorded the vocals. Then i deleted the whole thing and focused on a very plain campfire version without help from the back recorded on the bad cellpjone mic.

That is so awesome! I totally got a Bob Dylan vibe coming from that performance. I am so glad you and dice are pushing your limits beyond the championship as well 🙂

He appears to be strumming with all 4 fingers. Is that...normal?

Well, it is japanese metal, so nothing about that is ever normal 😂

I mean it's possible that he's doing 4-finger technique, but looks like 3-finger running man technique to me. Pinky just moves uncontrollably with rest of the fingers. I'm doing the same technique there.

  3. Fast fingered bass? Count me in!

I was going to make a playthrough video of the sightread, but I forgot to enable my bass amp's mic in obs settings and my phone cut the video short in the middle of the song due to energy saving 😅

So here is a short clip of me getting attacked by my chair at the middle of the solo. (Warning, audio is from phone mic only, so it is a bit boomy.)

I find that you need to pull off the tapped note distinctively, the rest can be played legato. I do not think active pickups would make a difference, I have passive ones too.

As long as you have calibrated your rocksmith and your pickups aren't super low output to begin with, you should be able to get decent note recognition for tapping. The most important thing to notice is how cleanly yout tap the note and do the follow ups with pull offs and hammer ons. If your muting and/or fingering technique is poor, you will easily get accidentals from other strings and even sympathic harmonies from open strings, if you don't cover them while tapping. The accidentals and feedbacks are only more and more audible with active pickups.

The best thing you can do is play with a distorted amp (preferrably outside of rocksmith, due to its noise gate) to see how clean your single string tapping and legato techniques really are. if you are constantly in a situation where your signal distorts heavily, then it means you are doing a poor job muting the strings. If you don't have access to a dirty amp, then tone designer from rocksmith is your friend.

I made some improvement on Algorhithm:

I can't get above 98.91% for bass on Angel because the song ends with 3 or 4 notes left in the tab?

Rhythm also ends with some notes left in the tab but i managed to get 100% anyway.  Haven't tried bass yet tho.

The Angel file has some issues, it gets better if you repair it also with overwriting the DD.

Still Bass and rhy end in the last phrase.

I felt it was just good enough that we could be using it for the week.

That is oddly broken, I don't think I've seen that kind of breakage before. That must have been recommended by me a long time ago. I didn't even have the file anymore. I downloaded, tested and confirmed that it's broken. Sorry about that.

@@diceslinger - i always start my work on fridays with listening to my own personal "band of the week"........

To make it short, shall we not be chosing "I can see clearly now" by the great Johnny Nash for next week acoustic educational session.

I know it´s not my turn, hit me if you already have one in the bag, but sometimes songs try to force their way through

    Rock!

Nice choice, very fitting.  Let's do it!

Great ... so looking 4ward to that

As the site was down, and i was done with selection for next week i forced a lil Every breath with my Trio+ Pedal:

That is pretty cool!  I hadn't heard of that kind of pedal before.  What kind of guitar?  A PRS?

    Schecter C6 Solo.

I am also responsible for Roddyboi buying a trio+ pedal. I was excited about that pedal and roddy jumped the gun before me. He liked it so much that I had to buy one as well, but I just suck at playing with it  It's your very own session mode pedal + looper.

You seem to be a bad influence :)

I do my best! I enjoy watching the world burn and I only wish the suffering of others.

@@diceslinger - here is a lil stalking song the way it is in my brain now.

I have to say, I'm outclassed here.  You played this song so well.  I only got the first part where I could play it reliably (this was take 38, so reliably is a stretch!)  I started playing around with playing it differently, and ran across this legato sound that sounds good on its own, so this is my submission.

I take full responsibility for this week's breathing challenge! It all started with my little audio clip that I sent to rod and he got super excited
