  3. Beginner: NDD Version Intermediate: NDD Version Masterclass: NDD Version Today I had some health problems, I'm better now, but I spent most of the day in the ER, and I just came home a couple of hours ago. I haven't had time to test any of the NDD versions, I'm going to see if I can play them now myself, but I'm not sure if I will be able to do it, so please let me know if there's something wrong with any of them. Thanks
  4. I hope you guys don't mind, but I decided to post 2 of the 7 videos I recorded today on this thread, although none of the songs are the ones we're playing this week. Since I'm having a blast playing all this songs with the bass, I decided to post 2 very different songs, I hope you guys enjoy the videos Rocksmith 2014 Custom - Steve Vai - For The Love Of God (Bass - SA 100%) 11-14-2014 Rocksmith 2014 Custom - Metallica - Ecstasy of Gold (Bass - SA 100%) 11-14-2014

  6. Today I played for 3h, recording a bunch of customs that I had videos playing emulated, I wanted to see if I could get the same scores with a real bass.... to my surprised I even managed to get 2 scores higher than what I had with emulated.... fuck, I'm loving playing with this bass, it's truly AWESOME :D Before quitting the game, I played the BG, ADV and MC bass arrangements. Here are the screenshots... 9. I've been following the thread, but as most of you might have noticed, I haven't been posting any scores lately. The reason is because I've been in terrible pain for the past 2 weeks, today was the 1st day that I woke up without the fucking toothache and I just came home from the dentist. I've been to 3 dentist appointments in this 2 weeks and the damn tooth is still not totally fixed, I'll have to go back on the 21st to finish the treatment, but according to the dentist I shouldn't have any more pain. If I do, I think I'm gonna extract the damn thing myself with some pliers  Hopefully I'll be able to play again today and post some scores, will see.... I tried the Alice in Chains (got something like 87% first go) but I have no desire to play that bass line again! lol Sorry, I didn't mean to come on here and whinge… I do like Junge - never heard it before. :) Oh, and the Metallica one won't convert to Mac for me - it's probably the version of the toolkit I'm using? Not to worry. Here's the link to the mac file @@missis sumner, I haven't tested since I don't have a mac and that version has a different bass tone, since the "original" tone had too much distortion and I didn't like it, so I changed it. Let me know if the file works and if you don't like the tone, I can convert the original file and post the link for it.
  10. I have the same feeling towards the bass tone @@MilkmanDan, I'll probably pack the song with a new one tonight myself (I already have the tone "in my mind"). If the tone suits the song, I can upload it and post the link, just let me know. :)
  11. of course it's not intended. If I do some changes in eof it creates new xml dokuments which I load in the toolkit. With this new xml docs created CDLCs always the stats are resetted. I just don't know how do avoid this. If I do any changes just in Toolkit I use the same xmls than before nothing will be reset. Any idea how to save the old stats on new xml? You can make the changes you want in EoF @, they have nothing to do with the toolkit and they don't affect the stats at all in the game, no matter how many changes you do.... I can create 2 versions of the same song in the toolkit, 1 with all the notes, another with just 1 note and as far as the game is concerned, it's always the same song, so no stats are reset. What causes the stats to be reset is the fact that each file you create in the toolkit has a different GUID, so as far RS is concerned, each version you do it's a different song, not a different version of the same song. (btw, you can open several instances of the toolkit, which I do when I want to create a new version of a file maintaining the same info about the song, but resetting the stats in the game) For example, the NDD versions I create always have the same GUID has the DD version, so the stats are not lost/reset. How to accomplish this? Every time you want to change a custom, instead of creating a new file from scratch in the toolkit (adding tones, .xml files, album art & wem file(s)), open the toolkit, select "Import Package", choose the "old" .psarc file and the destination folder where you want the toolkit to unpack the custom. (don't forget to go to the configuration of the toolkit and deselect "Imported Structured Packages"). 1 or 2 seconds later you'll see all the information in the toolkit, song info, arrangements, tones, album art, etc.... and the GUID is the same. (The GUID is and it looks something like this.... 4B4252190D824E2B9F12FCEAE6421770.... each arrangement has a different GUID, which you can see on the bottom of the arrangement properties window... oh, don't ever change that number manually) Now, just edit each arrangement/tone you want to change (double click it or select the arrangement and click "Edit"), select the new .xml(s) file(s), click generate and you'll have a new version of the same custom with the same GUID. If you're working on a custom that you need to generate several versions, instead of importing the package every time, the 1st time you import it you'll find a .xml file in the root folder where you unpacked the custom. That .xml file is created by the toolkit and it has all the information about that particular custom, including the same GUIDs. To open that file, instead of choosing the "Import Package" option, click on "Load Package" and all the info will be there (don't forget that using this method you'll need to have the image file for the album art and the wem files for the sound in the same folder where the package was extracted the 1st time when the .xml of the imported package was created by the toolkit.)... you can also use the "Save Package" option to create that specific .xml file. Let me know if you need anything else about the toolkit, since I've been working with it before RS2014 and after that, I was a tester of the new RS2014 version, where the new features were being developed and implemented, so I've been working with it for more than 1 year and a half. :)

  14. This week is gonna be a "nightmare" to play this songs, all different tuning, I'll probably only do a couple of runs on them, my gio already has enough intonation problems in E standard  But I'll sure play the hell out of the Metallica song... it's funny that until ~6 months ago I only knew a couple of songs (Battery, Nothing Else Matters) from them and now it's the songs I most like to play, although I still suck at it :P I was trying some new recording settings today with exclusivity on, to see if I could lower the latency of my RS and still be able to record. I was doing a 2nd run of the MC song while making a test that was the final and I now it works :D.... much lower latency (from 80ms to 40ms) and the game performs like I'm not even recording.... I don't know how I would be able to do the videos I do without Open Broadcaster, freeware and the best recording software I've ever used. Oh, the screenshot... 16. No need to apologize for anything @@Gamut, it's perfectly normal the question(s) you asked, many members have asked them before. Back in the day I always said that I didn't believe that people would cheat to post better scores, I just mentioned that because it's a fact and it's possible to do it. You might have noticed that I didn't describe how you can cheat, since it's not just using RR, you need to know how to properly "trick" the game in order to get a "false" score in LAS. That being said, and knowing the members that play in the CS, I stick with my belief and I don't think anyone do it here, I just wanted to explain why I made the statements on my post. It took me a while to get used to SA mode, even after turning off the SFX, but since I got used to it, it's the mode I prefer to play now. I only play in LAS on the 1st runs I do on a song I never played before, just to get acquainted with the chart and in the case of NDD customs, I'll know after the 1st run if I'm able to play SA in easy, medium or hard (I don't like to get X's when playing in SA :P). The notifications in the middle of the screen used to annoy me a little too, but I managed to focus just on the note highway and now I don't even notice them, imo it's a matter of getting used to that mode, I hope the same happens with you. :) I apologize if I gave the wrong impression on the previous post, I was just trying to explain this matter and not criticize you in any way, since I've been there myself, so I totally understand what you're saying. :)
  17. No worries~ We use accuracy. Score Attack always gives two points of accuracy, so it's technically a little better. That doesn't make me like it, though! I just tried it for Ca and I hate all the arcade noises and all the dumb irrelevant shit flying across my screen every time I play a note. PERFECT! GOOD! PERFECT! FANTASTIC! KEEP GOING! I way prefer Learn a Song. Rodman made me work hard. I did really well on the solo this attempt, but I fumbled some chords I definitely shouldn't have. You know... because beep boop boop beep PERFECT! PERFECT! WOW! EPIC! If we make sure to turn off Master Mode every time, is it okay to use the decimal point in Learn a Song for accuracy? I don't have the annoying sounds in SA mode, you just go to the options of the game, set the game effects to 0 and they're gone. About the info on the screen, SA is much more accurate and much less forgiving than LAS, plus the words are a good way for you to know if you're playing every note perfectly, with delay or too early, not to mention the multiplier, which allows you to see when you miss a note, etc. In LAS, even with MM turned off, the number shown does not reflect the accuracy at all. It varies from a wide range of reasons, specially with songs that have DD, that number is not accurate at all, with or without decimal point, plus, it's very easy to cheat in LAS using RR.... when the RS2014 CS began back in Smithy Anvil, the organizers had extensive discussions about accepting LAS scores, from the 2 organizers 1 of them didn't even want to accept the LAS screenshot as a valid entry for the CS. Although a lot of time has passed, this issue persists and that's the reason why almost everybody plays in SA mode for the CS. I don't mean to "interfere", but since I was 1 of the 2 initial organizers (not the one that didn't want to accept LAS screenshots as valid CS entries, I was the other), I just thought I should give my opinion about this, since there was a lot of discussion back in the day and as far as valid screenshots, the same rules that applied back then still are 100% valid now. @CS Organizers: If I stepped the line, I apologize, just wanted to make this clear since me and domsch1988 (the organizer from Smithy's that didn't want to accept LAS screenshots as valid entries) had extensive discussions about this and I think we covered all the possibilities... I know that some members don't like much to play in SA mode (I was one of them because of the annoying sounds and I only like it now cause I don't hear them anymore), but this was the best method we found to be fair to everybody.
  18. Here are the 2 custom note inlays, for guitar and bass... be aware that there are errors on both of them, specially in the guitar one, which has the notes from the D and G strings "swapped" Bass notes inlay Guitar notes inlay
  19. Thanks @@NoonyDeloony, I wish that would be possible, but my time "has passed". I've had to leave the DJ business because it forced me to be away from Portugal most of the time and that meant I wouldn't be present for my son and although music is a passion in my life, there's nothing that I can put "ahead" of him, so I'm happier this way, plus I wouldn't ever get to start to play an instrument(s) and know all the people I've met since I started, all amazing people... I can't say the same about the DJ business.... lots of jealousy and back stabbing, it's much better this way, only friendly and respectful competition :)
  20. And I forgot to post a few updates... I'm still with a terrible toothache, which doesn't allow me to concentrate on anything, but I can't stay more than 1 or 2 days without playing, it feels like there's always something missing... hopefully I will be able to post better scores in the next few days... I can't even think about playing emulated again.... tbh I don't know how the hell I managed to play like that for so long, recently I've watched a few videos playing emulated... the sound is just terrible  and the feeling of playing with a real bass, well, I can't even describe the difference in words, so get yourself a bass and start posting bass scores, I'm sure you'll love it :D
  21. Thanks for the compliment @@NoonyDeloony. I was a Hardtechno DJ for 15 years, performed several times with crowds with more than 1000 people in the dance floor, so, I got used to perform under pressure. I always played my sets at ~160BPM's and I couldn't stay still while I was performing, so it comes sort of natural to me to be moving around when I'm playing, specially if I know and like the song a lot, plus the video I posted playing bass of "AC/DC - The Jack" was a bit different than my usual recordings..... the happiness and excitement were through the roof, the adrenalin was pumping high which sort of made me even sing while playing, something I'm terrible at and I'm glad there's no microphone recording my voice, or it would be a terrible video to watch... in other words, I can't sing at all, my voice sucks  That being said, imho the most important thing is that you have pleasure and enjoy when you are playing, either if you just stand still or you move like a hurricane, as long as you are having lots of fun, that's what counts. Another thing I've learned while a DJ is that if you dwell on what the others think about you when you are performing, being it on stage or recording a video, you'll have too much stress in you and you can't perform as well as your abilities allow you to without that kind of pressure. When I was starting DJ'ing about 20 years ago, a fellow DJ told me this: "When you get on stage, you look to the crowd and your 1st reaction is to panic, specially with big crowds, you think "omg, what if I start to screw up all over the place, I'm gonna get "thrown" away from the stage or worse"... there's 1 very easy "solution" to avoid this.... close your eyes, pretend that you are at home alone, just practicing and the pressure and stress vanishes in a blink of an eye". It took me a couple of gigs to be able to do this, specially since at the time I was half the age I'm now (36), but I followed his advice to the letter and after a few months I was able to get on stage and I was only nervous for the 1st 5-10 minutes of a 2-3h set. After a couple of years, that awkward tingling in the stomach that you get when you are starting a gig was always present, but it never "interfered" with my performances and getting better and more experience started to make that tingling in the stomach in the beginning, something that I actually enjoyed, in fact, I miss it a lot.... I was very good as a DJ and I was "forced" to leave my career when I was getting an average of 8-10 gigs/month, so it's kind of something I will always treasure and miss a lot. I can't live without music, that's why I started to play guitar and now bass too, although being a single father I only do this for pure pleasure, never with the intention of playing in a band or anything like that, it's just a hobby I "need" to have.... my life without music just isn't the same. Sorry for the long post, but when I start talking about this, it's kind of hard to stop, since it's what I most like to do in my life. :)
