    1. How was the lag situation on linux?

Lag war virtually non-existent. I could run Jack with a buffer of 64 samples on 48KHz. That's around 4ms lag (roundtrip). But it was tricky. Started directly from Steam, RS14 would not find the Wine Asio device, you needed to start it via Proton commandline, with Steam running in the background. After the update, RS14 refuses to run outside of Steam.

    2. If you paste a direct link to an image (as in the url ends in .jpg or similar) it should inline the pic automatically. Works with most filehosts.

Thank you. Ok, imgur gave me a link without extension, that's probably why it didn't work.

  2. Hello,

new year, hopefully more time to participate again. I actually wanted to play the christmas songs last year but the long delayed Rocksmith update broke my Linux install of Rocksmith. I had such a nice working install, with RSasio, jack and wineasio. I just wanted to be able to start Steam in online mode again, and finally updated RS. I knew that this would be trouble, I can not get it to work anymore.

Now I'm back on Windows again. Well, RS is helping to justify the space reserved for my windows partition.

Hmm, I do not remember anymore how to embed external images, can someone help me out?

    Directly uploaded for now:

  3. @Rodman I was about to complain, that I totally rocked the the Adv. Rhythm too, with a superb score of 98.9, but then double checked and realized I had uploaded the wrong screenshot. 🤦‍♂️

Too late is too late. You are the well earned rhythm winner!

... but just for proof and that everyone can see the magnitude of my failure:

Am I allowed to resubmit? I can do it tonight after work if so

You can post your results as often as you like. It is no problem to post iterative improvements. Look how others do it, it is most entertaining if others can follow your development and you share  some of your thoughts about quality or difficulty of the song. I tend to post my first complete playthrough, my first Score-Attack and the best result at the end of the week (if time permitted me to improve on my first tries).

  5. Interesting discussion going on here. I stand with @ Rodman , purely on the basis of him not liking Simply Red. 😀

I did play some stuff this week (I should be tracking guitar for a song of my band...) and noticed I can not sight-read anymore, even with stuff that is mainly cords like this, I get thrown out whenever a lick comes up.

Next one is slightly above my speed limit (again the licks):

As long as you have calibrated your rocksmith and your pickups aren't super low output to begin with, you should be able to get decent note recognition for tapping.

Besides playing technique and good muting of ringing open strings, I noticed that the note recognition improved when I started to use RS-ASIO. Low latency helps.

Any tips for note recognition during the tapping? I'm hitting the notes but it seems like there is a lot more missed notes than there should be. Maybe I need to tap and pull off harder. Maybe active pick ups would work better. Or maybe I'm not playing it as well as I think I am, lol.

I find that you need to pull off the tapped note distinctively, the rest can be played legato. I do not think active pickups would make a difference, I have passive ones too.
