  1. It's easy to block the bridge (and probably recommended if you're a beginner.)  It's mostly a matter of fitting a wedge of wood behind it.

The worst part of the Fender trem is when you break a string while you're onstage and playing that awesome solo you've worked your butt off trying to learn... keeps life interesting, I guess.....

  2. I always delete the existing file before generating it again (or choose another filename).

I have no freeze issues since I am doing like this.

I've had the freeze with both overwriting the old version or writing a newly named version. I always test the .psarc before uploading it.

(PS: I don't keep all of my CDLCs in the DLC folder -- that's only for songs I'm actually playing at the moment. I keep a separate folder for my customs archives.)

  3. Maybe GP6 is changing the file? EOF can't read .gpx files. You could try saving the file as .Gp5 files in Tuxguitar.

Does the GP file use repeats? This doesn't always work well when importing into EOF, from what I've seen. You might have to make the repeats yourself.

  4. Here's my latest frustration... I've been working on a song for a while now, had to fix the guitarpro tab since it was prepared by a guy wearing earplugs. I thought I'd done really well, in fact I was ready to post it to the database this evening... when I finally got around to watching the band playing the song... and discovered I'd placed a whole section of it in the wrong position. And then I dug around and found some outtakes of the song where the guitar comes through more clearly... found a couple of other things I'd missed...

  5. I'm playing RS2014 on a Samsung laptop with an AMD-E6 processor (1.5ghz) with integrated Radeon graphics.6 GM of RAM.  I've turned off all of the visual effects (which don't do a whole lot, in my opinion) and I also turned off the venue/crowd bit -- I used to have that turned on, and it ran, but not as smoothly. with the crowd turned off, playback is quite smooth. This computer's a couple years old already, so I'd have to assume more recent models will handle it better.

It seems to me people with intel/Nvdia combinations have more trouble with Rocksmith. At least, it seems to me most of the performance complaints came from people using these.

I'd definitely look for a laptop with more memory -- not easy to find them with more than 4 GB.

  6. There's buzzing and then there's buzzing... Does this happen ONLY when you're playing hammer-ons and pulls-offs? If so, it might be a question of technique. It can take a while to get these.

It's possible you're not fretting properly -- you might not be getting enough downward pressure on the hammer. Do the strings buzz when you're fretting a normal note?

Do you get this buzz everywhere on the neck, or only a specific note? Fret buzz could be a sign that the neck doesn't have enough relief, meaning it's too straight -- a guitar neck normally needs a slight amount of bow in it to allow the strings to clear all the frets. Since this is a Starcaster, there's a chance the neck has moved -- a change in humidity levels and temperature would be enough to do it.

Here's a test: take a capo, place it on various frets up the neck, see if you're still getting a buzz when you're playing hammerons. Or any fret buzz. .

Hum is something much different, but that wouldn't have anything to do with hammerons/ frets, that's an issue with the pickups not being properly grounded. Has nothing to do with the speakers you're using either.

  7. Try CTL M'ing the words? This will add that blue bar that groups them into one line.

Yes, I've done that, but for some reason it doesn't seem to work.

If you still wanted to empty the vocal track, the "Track>Erase track" function should get the job done.

Ah, okay, didn't see this function. Still discovering this program after all these weeks!

  8. I don't know why but everytime that I start rocksmith my mic volume reset to 17

This is a bug that's been there since the game came out. They weren't able to fix this. Instead, they added a gain setting in the options menu. This will allow you to boost your guitar's signal -- it'll have you recalibrate after that.

  9. Well, resnapping didn't help.

I think the problem is that I tried importing the vocals tracks from another custom of the same song (the original custom wasn't accurate, so the original charter agreed to let me take a crack at it). I thought it would save me the effort of having to retype the lyrics -- I'd just fix what was there. But obviously it didn't work!

So is there a way to completely erase the vocal track -- not just the notes, but the entire track -- and start all over again? What would happen if I erased the real_vocals.xml file?

  10. EOF shouldn't care about whether the lyrics are grid snapped, but if the lyrics and lyric lines are enough out of sync (ie. lyrics are outside of the correct lyric line markers) it could cause some problems.

I haven't tested it yet, so I don't know for sure if it was that. Also, when checking the events, I found a note listed (don't remember which note, believe it was an E6?) that shouldn't have been there. I deleted it, since it wasn't supposed to be there.

  11. How to get a better guitar sound in Rocksmith 2014? Is there a way because frankly the modelisation is meh.

Some people are splitting the signal and running the guitar into their amp -- sounds like you might prefer that.

I'm not really bothered by the sound in Rocksmith. First of all because I'm using headphones, so it's going to sound like shite anyway. And second of all because I'm only using it as a learning tool.

  12. That happened to me when I did the lines by hand in EOF instead of using Ultra Star Creator, as I should've :) It's actually less work, you just load a text file with the lyrics and sync it to the music. Much easier than it sounds. And you don't have to enter the text by hand! the added bonus is that (for me at least) it doesn't throw everything together like you described.

Yeah, I'm going to have to give Ultrastar a try finally... when I started making customs, it was just one app to learn too many...

Edit: I think I figured it out -- the lyric lines hadn't been gridsnapped, but the markers were, which was throwing things off.

  13. I'm working on a vocal track -- I've been through it twice, making sure the each line is marked separately. Everything looks fine in the EOF preview pane. But in Rocksmith, at lot of the lines are showing up grouped together as single lines stretching across the entire window.

    Anyone have a clue why?

  14. Hi, I just downloaded yesterday the custom song toolkit for mac, but still didn't find a tutorial on how to import and convert dat to psarc.

Could you be kind enough to point me to tehe right place if you know where or how?

I want soooooooo much to have the two door cinema "what you know", you cannot imagine...

P.S.: i'm running a Mac version and in despite of adding mono framework and X developers kit, it's been a quite unstable program.

@Pilo  Heh, I really enjoyed the video for that song.

You're going to need EOF. The toolkit allows you to unpack the dat -- you'll use the files in there to make the conversion. Have a look at the basic tutorial for how to setup EOF.

Converting a .dat to .psarc is pretty much the same process, except most of the work has been done for you.

Look for a .dds file -- that's the artwork.

Look for the larger .wem file -- use the toolkit's converter (OGG tab) to convert that to an .ogg. Use the .ogg to start a new project in EOF. (Start a new folder for it)

Look for the .xml files -- the ones labeled "Real_Guitar", "Real_Bass" etc. are the ones you'll import into EOF. (There should be other .xml files for the custom tones too)

Once you've imported the tracks, make sure the beats have been synced to the song, check the notes for accuracy, add techniques where necessary. EOF will generate new .xml files, which you'll use to repack as an RS2014 .psarc.

It may seem quite complicated to do this at first -- it all depends on how comfortable you are learning software.

  15. First off, have you set the beatmap? If so, lock it down. If you haven't, set the beatmap first.

Then, don't drag the notes. Instead, copy all of them (select-all and copy), then delete them. Now, move the cursor to the beat where the part starts and paste there. This should line everything up (if the GP file is accurate).
